What's upper! This weeks NASTY NEWS is
comin' at cha' from the new home of Rap Attack!
I'm finally 80% all settled into my new pad & my
computer is now running through a fast speed cable
connection! It's been a grueling 6 weeks (living outta
my luggage & using a phone connection for my comp) but I
made it through all the changes of adjusting to a new
spot along with moving endless amounts of crates of
vinyl dating back to my mid 70's. Yes, I have moved
outta the burbs & moved on up to the upper class & phat
flossin' streets of Sherman Oaks! Hey, didn't I once
work in that neighborhood 2 years ago? So here is the
official new mailing address to send your latest vinyl,
cd's, mixtapes, dvd's, t-shirts, bootleg movies &
magazines for review to:
RapAttackLives.com
4750
Kester Avenue, Ste. 20
Sherman Oaks, CA 91403
attn: Nasty-Nes
Make
sure you update your files with that info so you can be
guaranteed to get a write up here on NASTY NEWS &
on the site that gets an average of over 120,000 hits a
month! I want to thank DJ Creativity for lettin'
me & my cat, Snuggles crash and work outta his
crib, I also want to give another phat thanks to
Kazzeo for locking down my column & to the
Madoyan family for the great hospitality & for the
best Armenian food that kept my stomach satisfied
24/7!... Aiight, check your mail & get ready to warm up
your one's & two's with The Havnots from Queens.
Their debut single is "How We Roll" & The Wonder
Twinz are looking for your support to breaking this
joint & adding it on October 15th... Looks like Bow
Wow has been hittin' up King Shameek with
some paperwork about signing Ms. Nana to his
production company for distribution. Stay tuned as we
may be seeing a new female emcee on the come up... My
dawg4life, Sam Figueroa (aka DJ Sammy Figgs)
reppin' Jersey's WRSU rocked the party with his
wheels at Club Platinum in New Brunswick, NJ last week!
This will hopefully be a weekly gig for Sam so if you're
in his hood & would like more info regarding future club
dates, holla at my dawg at
fviag6@aol.com
or call him at 908-397-9109... "EQ here from
SPARX ENT., INC. Some of you might know me from my
hip-hop MD & Promotions Director duties
over at WBCR (Brooklyn College Radio). Well, I'm
officially taking that next step into the wonderful
world of Independent Radio Promotions. I have a
few dope projects that I will be taking care of in the
next couple of weeks, but for now my main priority is
getting
JERU
THE DAMAJA'S album "DEVINE DESIGN"
(available 9.23.03) and the album's lead single "WAR"
out and available to the masses. So if you didn't get
laced in the past month feel free to drop me an email w/
all of your info. to:

. I will be going for ADDS on both the album and
single real soon, so please make sure to hold me
down. JERU is also available for interviews and drops,
so get at me and I'll do my best to set it up. Peace, EQ"...
I know it’s still a little bit off but if you wanna
start the new year off correct, you can’t miss if you
reserve your copy now of the new album from the
Visionairies entitled “Pangaea” on Up Above
Records. It drops Jan. 2004 and the first single
will be the title track produced by Life Rexall
of the Shapeshifters with a b-side called
“Strike” produced by DJ Babu. Special guests
include Living Legends and Melo-D of the
Beat Junkies along with production by Evidence
of Dilated Peoples, Oh No of Kali
Wild, KanKick, J-Rocc, Key Kool,
and DJ Rhettmatic. Guaranteed heat… Live and
direct in the Windy City. That’s right, Chicago will be
the “Hip Hop & Social Change” conference on October 3rd
& 4th at the Field Museum. Among the
panelists at various discussions will be Mos Def,
Talib Kweli, pioneering grafitti artist Zephyr,
Triple Blak, and Jeff Chang and many more.
For more info you can log on to
www.fieldmuseum.com/hiphop or call
Yasmeen Basheeruddin at 312.665.7481…Speaking of
Chicago, I just got my hands on a copy of the new
Daily Plannet album “Team Daily” on All Natural
music. With production from Dug Infinite,
J Rawls, Madd Crates, and Molemen
along with guests such as Wildchild, Medaphore,
Capital D, and El Da Sensei this is a
great example of underground hip-hop. If you want to get
laced, reach out to Kevynn Global at
kevynnglobal@msn.com or 312.409.4754 and
tell’em RapAttack sent ya…Why is no one pointing
out that the reason De La Hoya is trying to get
investigation into his recent loss to Mosley is
because he made the claim prior to the fight that if he
lost, he would retire. He’s trying to deflect the focus.
You lost kid. Live up to your word and retire vato… For
those dj’s in need of an inside contact at Priority
/ Capitol Records, here’s what you need to
know. Kaos Brought is now handling promotions.
You can reach him at 310.686.0860 or
sacoffonk@aol.com
. Get ready because dropping in February will be
“Neighborhood Watch” from Dilated Peoples. Also, around
Christmas time, get ready for Westside Connections'
new track “Terrorist Threat” to hit your mailbox…
Returning to the scene is MF Doom with the new
single “Yee Haw” on Molemen Records. Don’t be
fooled, this isn’t a 2003 remake of “Square Dance Rap”.
This is some straight b-boy ish that MF is known for. To
get your hands on this, hit up Chase Killz at
chase_killz@yahoo.com … Arriving any day
now in your mail should be the latest offering from
Top Shelf Music entitled “2003 Summer Sampler”.
Topshelf is based in Asheville, NC and this cd features
tracks from Madd Rabbi, Simple Mathematics,
DJ DQ, Murs, Scienz Of Life, and
Grand Agent. Holla at Brycon @ 828.254.5949 /
hbrycon@aol.com
for more insight… Soon to be in your hands (if not
already) will be the latest from Obie Trice
entitled “Oh” on Shady / Interscope Records.
It features Busta Rhymes so prepare yourself for
the heat. Obie’s album “Cheers” hit stores on September
23… It’s being termed a “Gangstorious Classic”. Yes you
read that right. Produced by Eminem, “Running” is
a collaboration from 2Pac and Biggie. It’s
the first single from the soundtrack to the movie
“Resurrection”. The soundtrack will be in stores Nov 4th
and the movie hits screens on Nov 14th… I've
been knowing DJ J-Tyme (see photo above)
for nearly 7 years now dating back to my days livin' in
the "206." Word is that he is leaving KUGS but
you can count on J-Tyme to reappear back in the mix & on
the mic as he takes his career to the next level! Here's
what our pinoy pare' had to say, " Due to circumstances
beyond my control, I will no longer being doing my show
on KUGS at Western Washington University. My last show
aired on Friday September 19th, 2003. I have held down
the college airwaves there since 1998. I want to express
thanks to everyone who has supported me and given me
guidance and knowledge along the way. I've built many
friendships and relationships since then and have
learned a lot. I feel that I have accomplished all that
I could while being there and it's now time for me to
move on. I have had doors open up for me and
oppurtunities presented to me that I thought would never
happen and for that, I am grateful. I will not
completely disappear as I will explore other options
within the DJ realm. I will continue to work the club
circuit out here in the Pacific Northwest as well as
dabbling in the mixtape game. Thanks and peace and
blessings & R.I.P to my fam, Tom Craven aka DJ
Crave., Jason Guerrero/ J-Tyme." Please keep
J-Tyme on your mailing list & most important, keep in
touch with him. I see a lot of dj's who after they exit
the station they've been dj'ing on, a lot of you forget
about these people who was there for you when you needed
that radio airplay & chart support. So here's his info;
