What's upper! Did anyone catch the final episode of
HBO's "Sex In The City?" Tito, get me a
tissue... J-Tyme is back in the mix at Seattle's
X-104 as he replaces DJ R-Sin who's now
makin' noise on KUBE 93's "Saturday Night
Hotmix" show. Here's what J-Tyme had to say, "I wanted
to inform you all that as of this past Wednesday, I am
now back on the radio airwaves. After spending 5 years
at KUGS in Bellingham and about a year back home
in Seattle doing clubs, I have landed a mixshow spot on
KMIH-X104.5FM here in Seattle (Saturday night
street party airing every Saturday night from 7pm-3am).
I would truly appreciate it if you could update your
records with my current contact and mailing information.

Welcome back to Rap Attack pare'...
Lord Finesse will update his classic 1989 album,
"Funky Technician." "Funky Technician – The Remix
Project" is a double album that has been remastered and
features production from Pete Rock, DJ Premier,
Madlib, Kenny Dope, Buck Wild, DJ
Spinna, Large Professor and Lord
Finesse. The album comes with instrumentals and hits
stores in March...
The
Urban Network conference is just around
the corner. I'd love to know if you're gonna be there.
This weeks b'day boy, Jason D from KHDC in
Salinas, CA had this to say, " Can we just cut the shit?
Cut through the BS that is? We could blah, blah, blah
about the NBA All Star weekend or Janet
Jackson's boobies or whatever tabloid
bullshit but can we get real for a minute? Who is coming
out for Urban Network? Shit is in 3 months people.
Everyone I speak with is on some mumbling... maybe, sort
of, if my boss lets me... type shit. Grow a pair or
borrow some. Dayum. Cali djs flew the fuck out to
CMJ without even being CMJ reporters. I don't
know anyone that even went to the CMJ conference.
MEANWHILE, the Urban Network conference is May 5-8, 2004
in Palm Springs, Cali. Christina Alonzo is
keeping shit really REAL and people are all
non-committal. Hip-Hop where you at? I'm confused. We
support indie rock conventions in NY that NO ONE attends
for the CONVENTION but we front on conventions that deal
with URBAN music. Hope to see you fuckers there." In
response to that, here's what one of our dj's had to say
but wanted to keep his/her identity anonymous, "As far
as Urban Network, I'm interested as a dj/reporter, a
record promoter and as someone with a record label, but
the shear cost of it would be huge for me. I don't mind
paying for flights and hotels (especially if it's to
sunny Cali) but to then have to dish up a few more
hundred bucks to attend the conference makes it tough,
especially when the conference usually consists of all
us college djs etc. hanging out together and not going
to the panels etc. CMJ is cool in the way that people
can just come to NYC , hang out with the djs/promoters,
go to 100 events that are related to the conference but
never have to actually register for the conference! No
one can just go to Palm Springs and get into whatever
hotel it's at without registering. I't ain't gonna
happen. I would go if there was a huge discount on the
fee etc. or if there was a great movement for college
radio happening out there but there just isn't. I dunno
if that makes sense but that's my take on it"...
My
dawg, Charlie Gambetta is back to make some noise
in 2004 with Jambetta Music. Droppin' soon is The
Last Poets featuring Dead Prez & Common
"Panther" (Jambetta Music). Dj's who've been diggin'
in the crates will know that the Last Poets put the
spoken word on the map back in the 70's. "The Last Poets
did what spoken word was supposed to do," says
Russell Simmons. "I do my shit like the Last Poets,"
Tupac. "They're the original hip-hop artists,"
Doug E. Fresh. "One of the fundamental building
blocks of rap," David Bowie. So get your
turntables as these O.G. cats spit some militant lyrics
for 2004... Rap Attack takes a reality look on
what's up with IN's DJ Solo at WECI & NH's
Edgie Kokowski at WUNH; "Well American
Idol 3 sucked tonight. Only a few contestants had my
attention. I must thank Nasty Nes for getting me
hooked on reality tv shows! Some of these are in insane,
like the fat guy torturing a pretty rich girl to the
fullest in hopes of gettin' married with her parents
approval & winning a million bucks. Funny ish. Is that
nice? Who cares. She agreed to the terms for a million
dollars. Dayum I need a life. We at WECI are under
review for FCC renewal. Every station goes
through this eventually. Should be a lot of fun. They
are working on a lot of things here, so stay tuned." DJ
Solo; "Go Yanks, Colts, Raiders and
every other team I support & fuk the Pacers, just
kidding! So apparently Hip-Hop trash
Trina is making a
new record called "Big Ol D*ck" where she chronicles the
endowments that several big name rappers have been
blessed with. Although, my name didn't make the cut on
the A-Side, I was pleased that Trina included my name on
the B-Side "AAA Battery!" Lastly, I didn't think it was
possible, but reality TV has sunk to a new low. One
night I see this show where
Vanilla Ice, Erik
Estrada and Ron
Jeremy are all living in a house together,
and then the next night there is some midget "Joe
Millionaire" on FOX. What's next? A show where a
guy dates hermaphrodites? A house where cops and
criminals are roommates? A show where DJ's and promoters
cast their computers aside and talk on the phone? Now
that would be strange." Edgie Kokoski...
After
a successful run on J Records, word is out that
Busta Rhymes is moving to his new home at Dr.
Dre's Aftermath Records... On the J Records
tip, that new joint by Ruben Studdard "I'm Sorry"
is really startin' to grow on me until last week. I got
an MP3 in my email from this cat Bobby Fisher
reppin' One Pham Entertainment. Yo, this
remix they did which is produced by Samir on
Ruben Studdard's "I'm Sorry" is blazin' hot & will take
this single to the top of the charts in a quickness &
heat up the dance floor nationwide! There's also this
rap artist featured on the remix & nope, it's not
Jay-Z. One Pham's been around with doing work for
G-Unit, Monica, Big Sty & Alicia
Keys to name a few. Their budget is kinda tight
right now so I'm not sure if they're gonna drop some
promo vinyl on it unless J Records releases it. For now
you can hit em' up for more info by calling (410)
428-4440 or by email at:
CRIPBLOOD@AOL.COM.

LA...DANGERMOUSE'S interpretation of JAY-Z's
"BLACK" album is out there makin a lot of noise...the
"GREY ALBUM" is an experiment in music that uses the
full vocal content of Jay-Z¹s Black Album, recorded over
new beats and production created using the Beatles
White Album as the sole source material...all the
music on the Grey Album can be traced back to the White
Album, every single kick, snare, and chord is taken from
an original Beatles recording...unfortunately, since
EMI has ordered a cease and desist you can no longer
buy the record at your local hiphop shop...but turn up
your radios because clean edits should be landing at a
station near you this week..."What More Can I Say" and
"Dec 4th" have already been getting burn on LA's own
Power 106, other GREY appearances include
commercial stations in key markets such as New York City
(Hot 97), Seattle, and San Francisco...anyone who
needs more information on the GREY ALBUM please reach
out!...
