BATTLE ON WAX |
|

[[ May 24, 2004 ]] |

What's
upper! Last Thursday night, the place to be here in L.A.
was at the Avalon for the "National DJ Search Finale-The
Battle On Wax" (see flyer photo above)sponsored by
Gen Art & SoBe Adrenaline Rush. Battling on
the wheels to win $5000 cash were DJ's: Daddy Dog
(NY), Domination (FL), Esquire (NY) &
Turbulence (CA). Hosting the event were King Tech
& our own, DJ Revolution both reppin' the
Sway & Tech show. I saw some crazy ish on stage as
these dj's were beat juggling to a "Planet Rock" beat,
layin' down endless vinyls one after another droppin'
vocals to various breaks & beats to standing upside down
on the table & cuttin' with your mouth! It was close &
to my disagreement, DJ Esquire outta Brooklyn, NY took
1st place with my pare', DJ Turbulence reppin' us
filipinos &
Southern Cali
coming in 2nd. TIR's DJ Buddhabong (SolOfHipHop.com),
DJ CrazyAse (Universal Records) & yours
truly had a blast screaming our lungs out!... Over the
weekend, I had a chance for the very first time to
experience XM Satellite radio in my homies car.
Honestly, I'm still not convinced on this yet but after
spending about 2 hours on the road & peeping out all the
various commercial free music formats & the clear
quality of satellite radio, I'm a lil' more for this
than I was before... There's a phat new Joey Chavez
12" vinyl floatin' around on Beatdown Recordings!
Yup, I've got the vinyl with the A Side, "Fingerprints"
featuring Evidence & Phil The Agony b/w
the B Side, "Interstate Five" featuring Raaka &
Encore. A big thumbs up with my seal of approval
for the real Hip-Hop heads! If you'd like to get laced
with the vinyl, please holla at my O.G. dawg,
Adrian
"A-Love"

xyioninc@aol.com & tell him Rap Attack sent ya' &
you'll be good to go, fa' sho'... Our own, DJ

heat & pure fiya goin' on with his artist, Mighty
Mystic. Be sure to peep both tracks "Off Da Dro" b/w
"Black People Anthem" off of Label One Records.

Attack now takes a "What's Upper" look this week
with: DJ A-Beats (WGMU in Washington, DC),
" I want to give big shouts to everybody I kicked it
with in LA (Jessica at Spectre, Nasty
Nes, ID, Amen and DJ Honeycut).
My girl and I had a blast, I can see why people go out
there and never come back to the east coast. The
shopping out there is def on point. If u ever out there,
LA Sportie and Ameoba Records have to be
two of my favorite stores of all time. Anyways. I'm
headed to Mexico now for 10 days"... DJ Honeycut
(KPSU in Portland, OR.), " Big shout outs to
everyone I saw in Los Angeles! That night at the Temple
bar was fun even though it took Nes, Serena and I
about two hours to get there due to some directional
disfunction on all our parts. What up Nes! I will always
remeber that car ride. Jessica it was cool to finally
meet you. Sorry it was so short. If your going to LA buy
a map or two and watch out for shady car rental
companies!!!"... Conrad "DJ RADD1"
Tatnall (WDBM in East Lansing, MI), " I will
be representing at the 2nd Annual Detroit Hip Hop
Summit. I am staying at the Atheneum Hotel in Greek
Town. Please let me know if you will be in town, and
whether you are sponsoring any events (suite parties,
clubs, dinners, showcases, etc.). Also, just like every
Friday, I will be DJ'ing @ Gregory's in Lansing, MI on
Friday Nite. Let me know if you are interested in coming
VIP style.Holla back…thanks!!!" (you can reach RADD1 on
his cell (517) 749-3685 or online at:
djradd1@sbcglobal.net)... DJ Meddafore (MixTape
Reporter in Philadelphia, PA.), " If any of our
RapAttack fam wants to check out Trini from
Wyclef's new label Clef Records, they can
use this link to hear "Get Em" at:
http://meddafore.com/Trini-GetEm.mp3"...
Edgie Kokoski (WUNH in Durham, NH), " I've
got lot's of interesting hip hop tidbits worth mocking
this week startin' at number one:
1. P. Diddy spares us all by declaring "Da
Band" defunct. Talentless troublemaker Dylan
lashes out at Diddy claiming that he was unfairly
portrayed on the show. He's readying a new mix cd that
I'm sure will be about as hot as an igloo with an air
conditioner.
2. Talk about shittin on the game: Twista is
busted after his tour bus dumps 200 gallons of sewage on
a city street! It must be hard to convince the groupies
to come back to your bus and bone when your last 25
dumps are strewn outside the vehicle.
3. Ma$e is back on the scene with a new single
that plays off the "Welcome Back Kotter" theme song.
Great idea Ma$e! I loved it when AZ and Onyx
did that exact same thing 2 years ago.
4. Ras Kass filed suit against Priority
for $5 million and release from his recording contract.
Hey Ras, how about you get released from prison first,
then worry about your record deal?
5. Method Man further lowers the bar for
Wu-Tang albums with the release of "Tical 0: The
Prequel". Since it's a prequel, I guess it must have
been recorded before he was making dope records. Because
I could fit all the hot tracks on this album on my
answering machine tape. And still have some room left.
Okay, enough sh*t talking from me. I'm going to the bank
to close on a loan so that I can put some gas in my
car!"...
Start
checkin' your mail this week for our debut "Rock The
Beat Volume One" double vinyl promo featuring exclusive
& new tracks from Strange Fruit, Hill-B,
Specifics, NSS16 & J-Bully! The
deadline for "Rock The Beat Volume Two" has passed &
