I love receiving indy releases from groups that are
hungry in Hip-Hop & I found this joint by a Lix
based outta NY with a phat A-side track "Raincheck" (LT
PRoductions). This single's got an awesome hook to
it, great lyrics & phat production which all adds up to
a potential hit record! Peepin' out Lix's resume', he's
appeared on BET's "106 & Park" & has been gettin'
some early airplay love on my boys The Wonder Twinz
show on the Sirius Satellite Network & even
on my former hometown radio station I used to dj on,
Seattle's KUBE 93! Being that they're an indy &
still seeking distribution, I urge you to hit up
Tyrone for copies at (631) 258-3452 & tell him
Nes sent ya! Good luck Lix... On the
Seattle tip, I'm headin' back home on Sept 3rd-6th to be
a guest judge at the upcoming Brain Storm Emcee
Battle being held at the Bumpershoot Festival.
I can't wait to see my Seatown family, friends & fans
again. This is gonna be a big Hip-Hop event with Nas
& Public Enemy headlining a couple of the
live shows featured that 3 day weekend! For more info,

skills to both artists in the past. And now he’s
concentrating on his latest LP titled, "11 Steps Down" (Beats

Rap
Attack
takes
a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with Mike Jax
(WKPS-PA): "I hope they haven’t finally
decided to make Fabolous’ new single "Breathe"
because it has been out there way too long and I think
most folks agree that the song is not that fresh. The
new Beatnuts record "Find Us" featuring Akon
is fire!!!! Understand that and spin away. We had
Masta Ace call in to the show last week. Ace is
always a good interview. It was my second time having
him on the show and surely a pleasure. You gotta love
the single and look for the new album "Long Hot Summer."
Why isn’t the first song on KRS One’s new album
"Keep Right" the first single? It is definitely hotter
than the "Illegal Biz/My Mind is Racing" single. My pick
for the next single is for "Are You Ready For This."
I got the chance to check out
The Procussions, Time Machine, Insight
& Encore on tour in
Harrisburg last week. All the groups did their thing to
the fullest. If the tour is coming to your area you
should definitely check them out. All of the groups have
mad energy and have put together dope stage shows. Their
shows have made me more of a fan of their records and
vice versa. Asheru’s song with The Sound
Providers, "Old Time’s Sake" is straight up the new
anthem for quality Hip-Hop. The beat is crazy with mad
energy and Ash kills it with hip hop conscious rhymes. I
am proud to spin this one.Who the F&$K is
Houston???
I can’t front Usher’s
"Confessions Pt 3" is crazy fire. Shyne from the
clink, Twista and Kanye "To-da" all
deliver their signature flows on this one"... DJ
Buddhabong (TIR-CA): " I'm putting
this together while I am in NYC. Let me know if you or
any one you know might be interested. Project: New York:
The Essence of… Photo sessions/ installments documenting
urban/hip hop culture in NYC, captured in a week by
observations of everyday lifestyle/ environment – by
photographer “Buddhabong” (Natural/ Everyday lifestyle:
Studio, home, etc shots) Time Frame: Aug – 14-22,
Format: Black and White, Camera: 35mm & Location: NYC.
If you or your artists would like to be involved or is
available: please contact Buddhabong at
djbuddhabong@aol.com - (818) 947.9428 pgr"... DJ
Solo (WECI-IN): " Big week for me. I will be
deejaying a hella of a reunion party and guess who it
is, the Johnson's, kinda like the movie! People
from the dirty of Texas, Georgia, and all over will be
there to eat on some bar-b que and listen to some mixing
by yours truly. So please if want something special
leaked, now is the time to get it to me. I have about 8
hours to represent. I am done with the talk on
Interscope so that's in the gutter, I don't blame
anyone, so Chunk no disrespect to you, you can
only do your job as your told. Nes I know you
have looked out for the panel as we have looked out for
you, thanks playa & peace"... Karam (CKRK-Toronto):
" The Kanye West and Usher show was cool. Kanye
West, John Legend and A-Trak did a really
tight show. 16,000+ people screaming "Jesus Walks" was
really weird. Between dancing, ripping his shirt off and
sticking his hands down his pants (oh ya, and singing),
Usher lectured the crowd on the importance of voting in
the upcoming elections. It can be hard to tell sometimes
cause we're not that different, but Canadians don't vote
for the President of the USA. It's a different country,
dude. Hilarious. I'm not convinced that entertainers are
the right people to deliver this message to the public,
but I could be wrong. My retirement ends temporarily on
Monday. Holla back for details on why I voluntarily
ended my early retirement and accidentally got a J.O.B"...
Darin Gloe (TheHipHopShow.com-see photo
above): " After 2 long years of trying to get on a
monitored commercial station this weekend marks the
fruits of that labor. Starting every Saturday Night I
will be on from 10pm – 1am on KOMG Mix 92.9 (Mediabase
monitored POP). (if SBC gets DSL in by this
weekend) This will be live from the club over the
airwaves; more moves are in the works so stay tuned. So
if you want records played get at me and make sure we
are straight with service. Secondly, my other station
WCZQ is going through some retooling, I have been
helping the jock set up interviews and different things,
but it should be going back to the mixshow format very
soon, it is also being monitored (Mediabase CHR
Rhythmic). I am helping Yatti set up an FTP to
make getting mixes to WBFZ easier, so more news
on that later. The Primo exclusive mix cd is
nearing completion after a year and half of hard work,
some emcees have been on it from day one and I want to
thank them from the bottom of my heart and everybody who
got down on this project, thanks a lot. We are hoping to
have sponsorship and release dates for you shortly.I was
hoping to make it to the Core DJ Retreat on August 20th,
but my boy DJ Ataxic is getting married that
weekend so unfortunately I will not be attending"...
Edgie Kokoski (WUNH-NH): "Another summer
weekend slips buy as I invaded my parents' vacant home
to join forces with my little brother Mook to
host the "Kokoski Bros. Annual BBQ/Beiruit
Bender". One keg and about a million hamburgers and hot
dogs later, I woke up Sunday morning with all the lights
on in my bedroom, fully dressed and wearing my winter
jacket. Now explain that one. One thing that I can't
explain is how Nelly thinks that we are a bunch
of morons. He announced this week that he is forming the
"P.I.M.P. Scholars Program". But "P.I.M.P" doesn't have
the connotation that you think. Oh no. It stands for "Positive
Intellectual Motivated Person" according to Nelly.
Okay Nelly, whatever you say. In a totally unrelated
story, this week I founded a Hip-Hop youth action group
at the University of New Hampshire called "Beatmakers,
Lyricists, Orators & Wordsmiths
Motivating Education". For short, we will be known
by the acronym "B.L.O.W.
M.E."
Absurd Line of the week: "I walk through the shadow
of death/holding my dick, pissing" - Shyne from "Martyr"
on the "Godfather Buried Alive" album.I'm not sure which
puzzles me more: the ridiculousness of this boast or the
fact that Shyne is able to walk and piss at the same
time. That's pretty tough to do, even for a guy!"...
SHOUT OUT TIZIME:
Happy
Birthday this week to my comadre', L.A. Nevins
from Lady Luck Mngt. who's celebrating her b'day
on August 18th (I love you girl-in a mono tone voice) &
