Miami-bred bilingual rapper Pitbull's
debut album, "M. I. A. M.I. (Money Is A Major Issue) on
TVT Records" will be dropping this week!. There's
plenty to appreciate on his debut. The 23-year-old Cuban
American verbalist has more hardcore lyrics, diverse
cultural influences and freestyle skills than most
artists would not know what to do with. With that much
in his corner, success is a given. On the album's lead
single "Culo," produced by and features multi-platinum
producer Lil Jon, Pitbull unleashes a Latin-laced
track inspired by a woman¹s backside. The feel-good
track sends a sonic rush of adrenaline and the video
that has become a staple on MTV. Lil Jon
also serves as co-executive producer of "M. I. A. M. I.
(Money Is A Major Issue)." The 16-track disc lives up to
Pitbull's moniker, once you grab hold of his CD its
gonna be hard to let go. "Pit bulls are outlawed in Dade
County, so I'm the only Pitbull allowed there," says
Pitbull. "I want my album to reflect my passion and
drive to reach the top." Stand-out tracks on the album
include "Toma" featuring Lil Jon, "Dammit Man," a
certified street anthem and "Get On The Floor,"
featuring Crunk n¹ B singer Oobie. "M. I. A. M.
I. (Money Is A Major Issue)" promises to break new
ground for Florida Hip-Hop. "Crunk really got started in
Miami with bass music," he said. "Crunk ain't nothin'
but bass music slowed down. And bass music got started
here in
Miami,
with Luke, Poison Clan and people like
that.
Miami
is the
New
York
of the South. And even after all that success we still
get slept on, but that¹s about to change."Expected to
hit stores this year on TVT Records: Hip-Hop
super-group, 213 (comprised of Snoop Dogg,
Warren G & Nate Dogg), highly touted
female emcee Jacki-O, Hip-Hop soul songstress
Teedra Moses and a new album from multi-platinum
group Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz. Upcoming
urban releases for 2005 include the first R&B Crunk
artist Oobie and Lil¹ Jon-protégé Chyna Whyte, a
female rapper with vicious rhymes and incredible lyrical
dexterity... You got mixtape

track. For more info, you can log on to:

"DJ IMPERIAL" Lawson (KSMU-MO):

here's his new email address effective now:
djaaronwade@wi.rr.com... Jon? Doe (KCPR-San
Luis Obispo): " Please peep out a complaint letter from
a listener of my show on Monday 8-16. Subject: KCPR
Broadcast Decency; Dear Dean Halisky, Dean Currier,
Dr.Ramos, Ms.Bienenfeld and Mr.Johnson, I am writing to
express my sincere concern about the appropriateness of
a recent KCPR broadcast. On Tuesday, August 17th at
about 7:00 pm I was listening to the campus station and
was shocked to hear JON?DOE play the song "Bush Killa"
by Paris. The song describes the singers desire to
assassinate the President while enroute in a parade.
Lyrics include: I'm looking for a way to make a play
and keep it neat And check it out and make a route and
pick a rooftop Get a spot where the view's hot Set up
shop 'cause all I wanna see is (expletive) brains
hanging' ... So don't be telling me to get the
non-violent spirit 'Cause when I'm violent is the only
time the devils hear it Rat-a-tat go the gat to his
devil face I hope he thinks of how he done us when he
lay to waste ... The song ends with a Bush speech
halted by gunfire. Although the song was written in 1992
and in reference to George Bush, Sr., listeners like
myself would likely assume the song is directed at our
current President. Shortly before playing the song your
DJ was encouraging listeners to attend an upcoming
political event which he termed a "Hate Bush" rally. Of
course we are all entitled to our political opinions,
however, aren't we crossing the line when broadcasting a
song that advocates assassination of our President? As
an alumni of the College of Liberal Arts, as a former
KCPR DJ, as a former CLA Advisory Board Member, as a
donor and as a taxpayer I am very interested in whether
you condone the broadcast of this and similar material.
If not what course of action will you take?
Respectfully, Todd Kennedy"... Chela (WKNC-NC):
" By the time you read this, I'll be in Nicaragua. I
will be there for 2 weeks. I hear that Tego will
be in the country, so hopefully I can catch his show! I
will be DJ'ing two parties while I'm there. Pics and
stories to follow. I have to send big shouts to OP
at Studio Distribution, it turns out he is
the same OP that used to tear down parties at my house
in Oberlin, OH! His sets were legendary! Everybody needs
to get really excited about Rap Attack's "
H.U.S.T.L.E. 2004" to jump off in NYC this Oct!"...
Brian Coulombe (WBRS-MA): " Hi doods. Hope
all is w/ everyone. Busy as usual here. Just a heads up
that my show is now on Friday nights from 9pm-2am (est).
Pretty much kills the ole' social life but having a full
5 hrs on air each week should be a blast"... David
Muhammad (WSUM-WI): " Short and sweet this
week. This fall is shaping up nicely for WSUM 91.7FM's
fall Hip-Hop line up with close to 6 Hip-Hop shows.
Monday night we did the a straight 2 hour throw down
with close to 70 tracks in 2 hours. We got a gang of
phone calls so we might make that a monthly staple on my
show. I'm expanding my residency at Club Majestic from
Thursdays to Friday 18+ night, so I guess I can't play
any old school anymore since it's for the under 21 set,
oh well I'll see what I can get away with. For labels
not sending me music, think twice about
that----According to the Princeton Review, the
University of Wisconsin-Madison is the 3rd largest Party
School in the country, This is the crowd that tunes in
to WSUM 91.7 and the people I spin for. Don't get it
twisted, I do radio and close to 3 gigs a week, I'm
worth the price of postage and at least one piece of
vinyl. Much love to Nes, Courtney, Papa D,
Alma, Jessica, Shaw, Eq,
Enzo, Nash, Splif, Justin Boyd,
JJ & ESP, Sean from Koch,
Chase, Jo Jo, Triple X and ST
from 105.9, Greg DL and Josh P,
Chela, Nick Nice, Mike and the staff at
MC Audio!"... Jason-D (KHDC #2-CA): "
Who's going to be in NY for the RapAttackLives.com "H.U.S.T.L.E.
2004"? Hope to see all of you there"... Raw B (KUSF-SF):
"What up? I just returned from my brief tour of Asia.
I'm a little jet-lagged, but it was well worth it. Tokyo
is officially my favorite city. It's a d.j.'s dream. Big
shouts to DJ Yoshito, Muro & crew, and
Sounds of Blackness in Tokyo for hooking me up. I
also went to the Philippines and I heard the Black
Eyed Peas everywhere I went. Thanks to the folks at
the Dream Bar for their hostpitality. (yo Nes, I
tried finding you a bride & I even looked at the Hobbit
House in Palate but all the ladies are jocking the half-Fillipino
dude from B.E.P.'s)! Props and thank you's to DJ
B-Cause (Http://www.fourOnefunk.com)
and DJ Tomas (http://www.xlr8r.com)
for holding down the mix in my abscence. Check the write
up in the San Francisco Bay Guardian naming my
show "Beatsauce" the "Best Hip-Hop Alternative" in their
annual Best of the Bay issue. http://www.bestofthebay.com/2004/nightlife.html.
Finally, I just want to remind folks that I'm now
working at download.com as a Hip-Hop/r&b editor.
It's a great opportunity for artists to promote their
music for free. Check it out
Http://music.download.com I'LL TAKE CARE OF
YOU!!!"... Primetime (WRFT-NY): " Check
out the "RAPGAME" track on the Viktor Vaughn 2
album, as it is produced by my crew Sesion31.Last
Sunday, we did a 2 HOUR tribute radio show to Masta
Ace which featured an appearance from the music man
himself"... Toast (WRPI-NY): " Well the
trip to Scribble Jam was successful. I flew out there
and established the home base for the 518 Pitch
Control Collective which drove the 11 hours in a 5
vehicle convoy. This included Shyste, Dez,
Sween, Sev Statik, JB!, Atypical,
DJ Gyro, White Lotus, Harm, Rick
Whispers and others. Thursday night opening show was
crazy in a nice spot. My man Sev Statik (518) ripped the
stage along with Mars Ill and others.Friday was
the Scribble opening. Annie's is a dope spot for such an
event. I picked up El Gant from the airport and
then we established the Pitch Control booth (www.PitchControlMusic.net)
for merch and music sales. Great performances by Sage
Francis with Joey Beats, Wordsworth
and Brother Ali. I don't care for Eyedea
but like Abilities.Saturday was bonk bonk as
well. Me and El Gant hit the casino in Indiana and took
them for some loot, then caught the battles at the
event. The graf was incredible. Peace to all I ran into:
Sage Francis (I am now a fan), Joey Beats,
Pumpkinhead, Tone Deff, Pack FM,
LoDeck, Alaska, Oktober, Poison Pen,
Wordsworth, Brother Ali (incredible set),
Finger Print Records collective (www.fingerprint-records.com),
Scribbling Idiots, Ambidex & Main Flow"...
DJ A-Beats (WGMU-Wash.DC): " What a busy
week. 9-5 is killing me right now. I hope everybody that
was hit by the hurricane is OK. My thoughts go out to
everybody affected. Make sure you keep your ear to the
streets as I have a mix dropping next week with DJ
JS-1 (Rocksteady Crew) hosted by Doujah
Raze. Register to vote!!!!
https://www.workingforchange.com/vote/ "... DJ
Solo (WECI-IN): " Fam I ask that you take
time and pray for my grandfather who is in the hospital.
They are doing tests on him so I will just pray for the
best. On a better note, my dj set last Sat. went well. I
earned some more listeners and some pay, not bad! Thats
it, peace"... Brett "OB1" Johnson (WUPX-MI):
"As most of you out there who are real close to me know
by now, I lost my cousin in a bizarre train accident. I
was attending his funeral last Wednesday. Thank you for
all who reached out with your support. It was well
received.Peace and RIP Josh Hall"... DJ Yoshi (Mixtape-NJ):
"Before we get into it, every1 please pray for those
affected by Hurricane Charlie this past week. I received
a 2way from our good folk DJ Quest whose only
means of communication was his cellphone & Blackberry.
Please reach out to Quest and anyone else you know to
send food, products, donations, and anything else that
you know HE WOULD send over if you needed it!
DJQuest@TMO.Blackberry.Net. Thank you to: Nathan
Sheard. Baby Paul. Chris Green.
Malcolm Miles. James White. Big Rudy.
the x-over dept of Sony for inviting myself and a
few other mixers from across the nation to watch history
this past weekend. Listening to NAS's LP while
vibin with good folk like: Triple X. Marc X. Wicked.
Splif. Warren Peace. Kut.
Reflexx & all the ppl who got down with us at the
club, was definitely an experience. Just for y'all to
know, this LP will NOT dissapoint you. I didn't get the
names of most of the tracks that we heard, but there's 2
joints that really stood out. 1 of em was "Street's
Disciple." Big shouts to our dawg DJ Goldfinger
who had me VIBIN hardcore to his 80's set when we
strolled into the club. Shouts to G-Brown makin
me wanna go home & grab a cup of tea on Sunday after the
NAS Central Park Show. Also thanks to Cleave Shuler
for the invite over to the Fabolous in studio
event. Mase has a feel-good LP, "Welcome Back"
out in stores. By now y'all should have it. My choice
tracks are: "Harlem Lullaby," "Do You Remember," "I
Wanna Go," "Gotta Survive," "Keep It On" & "Why? B/C I'm
a fan"... Meddafore (Mixtape-Philly): " Mark your
calendars cause it's goin down in NYC this October as
Nasty-Nes is gonna blast off with "H.U.S.T.L.E.
2004!" My Crazy Hood fam down in the M.I.A. got
some real nice shine this week on MTV.com (click
here) . If you haven't picked up DJ
EFN's most recent CD/DVD yet, you need to make a
trip thru the Crazy Hood site and store to buy at least
two copies (you know how your friends always be stealing
or "borrowing" the hottest ish you have, so be prepared
for that). I'm trying to get vinyl or a contact for
Miss B's "Bottle Action" I think it might be a So
So Def release, I only received an mp3 so I'm not
sure of exact details. The joint is fiiiire and could
easily blow up as a crunk anthem for females. Speaking
of fiiiire, if you're playing in clubs - you need to be
up or start getting more up (right now!) on your
reggaeton. It's been burning for a while and set to
blaze even more, don't be the last one to catch on. I
just saw Tego on MTV, THATS WHATS UP! Elite, the ILLLLLL
producer who cooked up the insane "Shootouts" beat for
Jadakiss & Styles P, as well as other
goodness for Splitt, Drag-On, Jin,
Flashy Freddy, Dip Set, QN5 and
more, has crafted a remix of the New Edition
"Hot2Nite" -- and it is a BANGER!! The original was
solid, but Elite takes to an even higher level. Not sure
if Bad Boy's checkin for it, but they
should put an ear on it. There's also a remix of a
popular anthem thats been very big this summer getting
ready to drop (no, I'm not talking about another Lean
Back remix), it's going to feature a couple of the top
emcees in the game and yep, Elite's handling the
production on that too. If you're not sure what I'm
talking about, hit up my website's message board or I'll
be more clear about it next week. Elite is a mad man and
ain't afraid to put in work. Artists, managers, labels,
whatever - you need to get at the kid like now right now
now. Next week is a real hot week for Hip-Hop album
releases. You got Young Buck dropping with
crazier beats and joints than I expected. Mase's
"Welcome Back" will be in stores, it's seriously like
the dude never left and never lost a step. If you're a
Mase fan, you'r gonna end up rocking this album like
it's your job. It's packed with so much heat, Bad Boy
can't go wrong with single selections. I'm tellin you
though, if they push it - "My Harlem Lullaby" could turn
into a MONSTER! Pitbull's "M.I.A.M.I." hits shelves next
week too and this is an album I've been waiting on for a
whiile and I got a lot of faith that Pit's gonna shine
and come thru with a solid release. There's a lot more
to him than joints like "Culo" - so if you're sleeping -
you're slacking and you're missin out one of the illest
and original cats in the game right now. AND
FINALLY...the album I've been screamin about for months
now will be available next Tuesday. The Foreign
Exchange's "Connected", album on BBE, is
something that everyone needs to pick up and have in
their collection - no matter how you been feeling about
Hip-Hop over the past couple years, this album is for
you! If you've been kind of jaded and disappointed, pick
up this album and be reminded why you fell in love with
Hip-Hop. If you never lost faith in Hip-Hop, pick up
this album and be even more proud. If you've been
involved with Hip-Hop since the 70's or 80's or if you
just started listening when Nelly or Eminem
came out - it doesn't matter! This is an album that
can not only be heard, but it's a project that you will
feel.
http://www.okayplayer.com/nowhearthis/. So when
you hit up wheverer you shop for CDs at next week,
consider Mase, Pitbull and Foreign Exchange and
depending on your tastes, you need to be walking away
with at least 2 of them. If cash is low, go back the
following week and cop it. I'm going back to watching
the Olympics, I usually pass on them but I'm hooked this
this time around. Big shouts to Semp Rok (see
photo above) for being one of the coolest and
hard working cats alive. The site has reached well
OVER A MILLION HITS, keep updated on what I got goin
on at:
