I can't front party people. Last week I caught myself glued to watching "Trading Spouses," "Wife Swapping" & "Home Delivery!" I think I'm becoming a reality TV addict!!!... Ok back to biz. Back in 1985, Los Angeles debuted the nation's first ever 24 hour, 7 days a week all rap radio station with 1580 AM Stereo, KDAY! KDAY is back on L.A.'s 93.5FM... The Rock Steady Crew will be celebrating their 20th anniversary of "Beat Street" this coming October 30th at The Point C.D.C. (940 Garrison Ave., Bronx, NY). Hosted By Crazy Legs, RSC, DJ Slynkee, Forrest Getemgump and more TBA. Admission is $10.00 & here's a rundown of the activities for "Beat Street":

Panel Discussions
12:00 PM – 1:30 PM “Don’t Judge Me”
This topic will cover how judges pick and choose winners as well as what they’re looking for in battles. What is a fair judging system? And what qualifications should a judge have?
Panelist: TBA

1:45 PM – 2:45 PM “The Art Of the Jam”.
Promoters will discuss what goes on behind the scenes when preparing for a jam and what it takes to throw a big event. This panel will try to give the consumer of these events and future promoters a better idea on how to throw their own events. As well as ask questions about past events and what went wrong or right?
Panelist: Crazy Legs , Cros 1, Forrest Getemgump, Keebla and more TBA.

3:00 PM- 4:00 PM “Soled Out!!” (Who’s Gone Hollywood?) Discussing who is and what is selling out in the breaking world”. Is doing what you love to make money really selling out? And how b-boys & b-girls sell themselves short just to be a part of a project. Why it is important to set a standard for getting paid in videos, commercials etc.
Panelist: Lady Jules, Moy and more TBA

Screening Of Beat Street 4:15 – 6:PM
FRIENEMIES JAM 7:00 – 2:00 AM Until. It's all about representing in the circles. Every b-boy and b-girl for himself or herself! No preset set battles. Back in the early eighties breaking was at an all time high through out the world. Crews were rolling thick and a lot of them got along. The only time they didn't get along was when they hit the club. I remember RSC and NYCB rolling to Places like Negril, The Roxy, Kennedy High School and other places where jams were going down. No one was worried about hurting any ones feelings or concerned with battling their own friends with a fierce will to win. We were all "FRIENEMIES". This is the place to battle that person that you chill with on a regular basis and show him that he's not as good as he brags about all the time. After that you jump on the train together and go to the next spot and have a laugh. We just want to keep the essence alive.

You can peep them out live at this years "H.U.S.T.L.E. 2004" event at club Opaline on October 14th...

ATTENTION LABELS & ARTISTS: Former Rap Attack reporter & no doubt a family friend fo' life, Maximus Clean (see photo above) formerly with Vancouver's CFRO has relocated to the Bay area but still keeps his ties with CFRO strong. I caught up with Maximus recently & here's what's upper with our homeboy; " It's hard to believe, but I started my radio show in Vancouver on CFRO 102.7FM exactly TEN years ago in October, 1994. During that time, the show has had many milestones including being Vancouver's first 24 hour Hip Hop radio marathons. Vancouver then, as it is again now, had no urban music stations so all of Vancouver's hip hop radio audience became affixed to the radio whenever the show aired. Celebrity guests included Daz, Del, Cocoa Brovas, WC, Grandmaster Flash, KRS One, Too Short, Raekwon, DJ Honda, X-ecutioners, and Tribe. Now, since I left the show at the end of 2002, I left my Angels in Charge. They are Katrina "D'Vyne" Abella and Dimitra "Deez" Bocolas. I retain my title as creator and executive producer of the show. If anyone other than these two people contact you with playlists, they are not doing so on my authority. For our 10th year anniversary show, there will be outakes from the past 10 years as well as call-in appearances from myself and my previous co-hosts Tru Luv, Spesxial Kay, Ryan, Roc-L and Rhythm. What I would love to get is a few artists drops congratulating the show on it's 10th year in Vancouver (that's a milestone for any urban radio show in that city). It should go something like:

"Peace to the Hip-Hop nation! This is (name) and I wanna congratulate Maximus Clean and "Beats To Tha Rhyme" for it's 10th Year Anniversary. Big shouts to D'Vyne, Deez, Charlie and Tito for holding it down on the number one hip hop show in Vancouver!"

If you can get the drops for me and have them sent or emailed to me, that would be great. My mailing address is: 3701 Lakeshore Ave., Oakland, CA 94610, Attention: Maximus Clean , Tel: (415)756-7744.  I would love both artists from the past or present and if they have a song to push, we will play it on that show as well. The deadline will be the 3rd week of October, or October 18th. Please let me know if you can help and I would be honored if you would add your voice to the celebrity drops for me since you are well-known in the northwest. Thanks again! Maximus Clean." You can log onto his site for more of the clean one at: www.maximusclean.com

DJ Toast
(WRPI-NY): " No chart email last week since I had a last minute business trip to Brussels, Belgium. That's Europe for you GED heads. If you ever get to go, here are some pointers.
Belgium chocolate is the best in the world.
Belgium beer is twice the alcohol of US beer.
Belgium strip clubs suck.
Drunk Belgium woman love to show you their thongs.
Everyone hates Americans thanks to idiot Bush.
Thanks to Wordsworth for the phone interview. Go buy his album. Here is the weekly rap chart for WRPI, 91.5fm Troy (Albany) NY that is reported to all the trades. Below the chart are 2 recent show playlists. My show is "The Main Event" on friday nights from 9pm to Midnight on 91.5fm Troy, NY! 10,000 Watts, and is also heard live on the internet at www.DJToast.com and www.WRPI.org. Please contact me with any questions or concerns. Check out my site at http://www.djtoast.com"... DJ Raw-B (KUSF-SF)    Big thanks to DJ's Yoshito and Kento of the Fresco crew. My Japanese compadres got deep crates and solid skills. They're having DJ Mitsu make his first U.S. appearance at their party this Friday @ Milk on Haight St. For more info about these cats hit up http://www.fresco-style.com... Milena "JazzyBell" Pastore (KCSU-CO): " How’s it going? F.C is excellent! I had two exams on Monday and a paper due yesterday so now I’m home free! Now I’ll definitely get to check out the dope shows coming through this week: 7L, Esoteric, Outerspace, Jedi Mind Tricks, Tre Hardson, Accumen and the 2 Live Crew - craziness, I say! PLEASE HELP!!! Colorado State’s Hip-Hop Culture Club needs help! We’re planning a huge event set to take place on October 23. It will consist of a $1,000 2 on 2 B-boy battle, $250 1 on 1 B-girl battle, emcee battle, urban fashion show and a performance by The Procussions as well as other CO artists. It’s gonna be dope, but unfortunately funds are a bit short right now. Has anybody had any success with fund-raising strategies on a college campus in the past? If so, lemme know! The club has been working so hard on this event and it's really coming together - any advice will be greatly appreciated!"... Kazzeo (KHDC-CA): " So this past weekend was an interesting one to say the least. My sister works with the aunt of the runner up in this past years American Idol show and the tour was in town (San Jose) this past Sunday. So my sister and I got invited to the special "Meet & Greet" the afternoon of the show at the hotel. So, obviously, this was a great photo op. You know how I love those. See the fruits of my labor below in the attachment as I mingled with my island princess, Jasmine Trias (see photo above). Feel free to comment. LOL....So the H.U.S.T.L.E. 2004 and CMJ conferences are just around the corner and yes, Jason D and myself will both be invaded the Big Apple once again. So be warned. There will be a shortage of Heinekins. So word is circulating that there is another Paris Hilton video floating around. This one features her in a 3 way situation with the guy from the Backstreet Boys and some other guy. Man this chick is a party. I don't find her good looking but damn if she doesn't know how to get down. What do you guys think of the show "Lost" on ABC? I thought it was very interesting. I really like the premise and it's well written. Peace"... Jason D (KHDC #2-CA): " Thanks to everyone who responded to my email last week about record shelving. Hands down, the majority of you are using Ikea's EXPEDIT shelving (www.ikea.com) which is probably the best value for your buck, comes in different colors, and looks good in the crib. I've attempted to add a picture of it below my playlist. For a few more bucks, I was really impressed with the looks of the dj stands from Sefour. They have the futuristic jetson's dj joints (http://www.sefour.com/indexnew1.htm) and although they are a UK company, I found their products all over the web here in the US. They just aren't that practical for storing thousands of records. So what did I do? With no Ikea for hundreds of miles, I had to go low budget, heavy duty and ended up with some shelving racks (small version of what you see at costco) so I could go floor to ceiling. Found 'em at Lowes but Home Depot sells similar joints. Let me know if you need details. Heavy Rotation: The new Alchemist cd is the shit. I am really feeling the kid. With Game, Mobb Deep, Lloyd Banks, The LOX, MOP, etc on vocals, this is the street banger for sure. In my top 5 releases for this year no question. Cop that"... Nesto (WODU-VA): " What's good people? Please take note of the new address because some of you are still sending stuff to the old address. H.U.S.T.L.E. 2004/CMJ is right around the corner and I am seriously looking forward to the festivities. Thanks for the help on the bus situation from the airport. It looks like I will have to wait for the station to drive up on Wed. night because my ass waited too long on booking tickets for a flight. So needless to say I will be missing the festivities on Wed. Let's just hope the fool that's driving doesn't get us lost, or hurt since we will be leaving for NYC at midnight on WED. Sounds illminded I know"...
