Give her a shout & let her know we sent ya'! Also peep out Barak's website at: www.barakrecords.com... Babygrande Records is proud to announce it has entered into a partnership with Viper Records to release the next album from one of the hottest and most important artists in Hip-Hop, Immortal Technique. "After considering the many major label and independent offers I received for the distribution of the next record I decided on Babygrande for many reasons: I saw their distribution power through Koch, their solid reputation at retail, and their promotional capabilities as an asset to the team that I had built up. I received contractual agreements that were the most financially stable in the long run for the situation I am setting up. This album is going to be different from the Revolutionary series. Whereas "Revolutionary Vol.2" was a response to the government influenced media coverage of terrorism and the addressing of several industry and hood issues, "The Middle Passage" is a more broad and more harsh approach. It is an album that will bring Technique back to the streets on which he started hustling and will have a wider variety of subject matter for people to feel," explained Immortal Technique from his Harlem, NY headquarters. In these trying times of war, terrorism, and world-wide instability, Immortal Technique is an important artist not only for Hip-Hop fans, but for the world," said Babygrande CEO, Chuck Wilson.Immortal Technique's "Middle Passage" LP will be released world-wide some time in 2005. Babygrande and Viper are also discussing the release of a DVD documentary about Immortal Technique's life and experiences as a hip-hop artist. Davey-D (KPFA-CA) laced me with a phat MP3 of Immortal Technique featuring Mos Def & Eminem with a cut called "Bin Laden" which will make heads turn & ears listen once you peep it! For more on Immortal Technique log on to: www.babygrande.com or www.viperrecords.com... My boy, Marcus Morton (Exec Producer) of the new docuimentary film by Jason Moriarty called "Prison Ball" was featured at the Hollywood Film Festival. Narrated by Ice-T, here's the 411 on "Prison Ball": " Deep in the heart of America's murder capital; young males are habitually filtered into one of its most lucrative industries: The industry of prison. In the projects, Basketball is one of the few opportunities kids have to  escape the hopeless environment of the ghetto.  In Prison, Basketball becomes a temporary escape from the hardships of being incarcerated. Prison Ball revolves around the first ever basketball tournament between four Louisiana State Prisons, and the lives of the players involved in the tournament. Through interviews with the players as well as a State Senator, Correctional Officers, Wardens and a School Superintendent the film exposes the truth about a $60 billion a year business that benefits from the warehousing of America's poor.  Four prisons compete to be #1 in something besides crime. About the Executive Producer: Marcus Morton is a pioneer in the world of Hip-Hop/Urban music and films. Most recently he developed and produced Sony/Screen Gems film “You Got Served”, which in its first week opened as the #1 film in America, Released Jan 30, 2004.  He also has a host of films in development at various studios. Mr. Morton was recently re-appointed to his second term as a Member of the California Film Commission. The “Prison Ball” trailer can be viewed at www.prisonballthemovie.com... Anthony B is about to release his new joint featuring Wyclef & Bone Crusher "Lighter (Remix) on Pyramid/Universal Records. This track has got some heat. Stay tuned... We know St Louis is in the World Series & reppin' the Golden Arch city is the group, The AllStars with "Do Whatcha Do" (BOBQP Ent.). Make sure you peep this mid-west banger & if you need vinyl, please holla at Alice Prince at (314) 533-6100 or online at: alicemprince@yahoo.com. On a similar tip, my former potnah in rhyme, Sir Mix-A-Lot recently recorded a new joint with the Ying Yang Twins "Until The Sun Cums Up" taking the beats from "What's Happnin" & Mix-A-Lot flippin' the lyrics! Song is tight & I'll let you know if & when he's gonna release it...

Rap Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with: Wildman Steve (BringTheNoise.com): " There was a WildMan Steve sighting at H.U.S.T.L.E. 2004 .Big up and much respect to Nasty Nes. I had a great time at the Fri. panel at Baruch. Also, respect goes out to Bella from WBBM for a gracious and down to earth hostess you are very sweet. I finally met Jessica from Spectre. Big up to my man Davey D thanks for the advice and info. Peace to David Muhammad. I also spoke briefly to Nathan Sheard, DJ Splif, Dru Ha & EQ. Peace to GURU and Ernie Paniccioli you did your thing on the panel. Much respect to Baruch College and security.I had a great time. Once again Nes "You did the damn thing"... Craig Arthur aka C-Sharp (WUVT-VA): "Got damn HUSTLE was a good time. Thank you to everyone that helped make it happen. EQ, NES, and everybody behind the scenes...good sh!t and I've got a feeling  its only going to get better. Personal highlights was seeing the Boot Camp Clik rock nearly crew deep at the HUSTLE showcase Thursday, the abbreviated Beat Seminar with Kev Brown and Illmind and also the TDHarry/VintageMusic/ TrilogyOnWax showcase.Peace to everybody I caught up with...Sean, Sum, Nes, Badtouch, ABeats, JJ, Doujah, PMD, Jess, Bumrush, Quartermaine, Nzinga, Angie, Amen and the list goes on. Definitely had a good time and already looking forward to next year"... Resident (WKNC-NC): "What up Nes? Just wanted to thank you for putting on the event. Hopefully this can happen more and more! We need things like this nowadays. Like me and Kristlyes said, "maybe more than once a year...good looking out homie...PEACE!!!!"...  DJ A-Beats (WGMU-Wash.DC): "CMJ/HUSTLE was amazing. To me the best 2 shows where Thursday and Saturday night. On Thursday BCC was doing a dope ass set then Rok came out and did some joints with Ruck. It was beautiful to see both of them back on stage together. Saturday was hands down the best all around show from the conference. Every single act held it down, but I have to say the highlight came at the end of the show when Kev Brown made a beat from scratch and had everybody up on stage freestyling. Shit was hot. Shouts to everybody I got to chill with and all the people I finally put a face to their name. There are too many people to list, but I do have to give a special thanks to Double J and Doujah for their hospitality"... Storm The Unpredictable (Ty-She Entertainment): " Peace Nes. Again I just wanted to really say thank you for having me as a part of your show last Thursday. It was greatly appreciated and everyone says that the conference was a big success. If there is ever anything I can do for you please do not hesitate to let me know. God bless"... Dan Shores (WHRW-NY): "Aight, so after the cmj / hustle joint , a lot of emails go around with shout outs and such. so ,its only appropriate i add my two cents. Hustle 2004 proved to be some really positive stuff for all those involved. Big up to Nasty Nes, Eq and everyone else involved. It was good to see the rapattacklives.com panel out there on Friday at the showcase. My deepest apologies for missing the panels, my travel situation was all jammed up.thanks for understanding. Big up to everyone i saw out there.. not going to list them individually, too long to name. Some Highlights include seeing Jean Grae on Saturday night out at Southpaw in BK and the Bumrush Meet N Greet ( This guy is really doin his thing year after year with these ! ) . And meeting Guru and seeing him rock at Hustle 2004 at Shelter. Also meeting up w/ Courtney from Def Jam, thanks for all the product. I've got some lessons I've learned also this time around...

 1. Never stay out in Jersey during CMJ / HUSTLE . you miss alot of panels and shows. and end up waiting for trains and buses until 7am.

 2. Always have that extra dough on you , NYC vacuums up your cash with a quickness.

2.5. Drink in your hotel room, or link up w/ someone w/ drink tickets. a 12 dollar drink is just not worth it .

 3. This ones a little hard to grasp, travel light.. but pack a lot. you gotta have your cds, and promotional material on you, but you're going to be receiving a lot too , so come equipt.

Splif (WKRB-NY): "Due to conflicts in time, your SONY Music New York Urban College Marketing Rep will longer be a part of the Urban Sales Division.

I have to truly say it was my absolute pleasure working with you ALL over the years. I've witnessed tremendous growth and development of you all and I'm confident you will be the NEW wave that will give the music industry a face lift it desperately needs. However, there are opportunities in place that I cannot speak on at the moment, that will be revealed in due time. I will be working closely with the NEW Rep to ensure you all are being taken care of in a timely fashion. I will also continue my role at Keen Management Group,LLC. in the Artist Development Division.

Chela (WXDU-NC): "CMJ/ HUSTLE this year was so much fun, my only complaint was there was way too much going on! This first HUSTLE conference has hopefully started an annual trend--congratulations to Nasty Nes, EQ and my homie David Muhammad for their hard work. My favorite event was the Ernie Pannicolli (the Hip Hop Photographer) presentation at Baruch. He was totally amazing. I enjoyed rocking at the Def Jam College DJ Appreciation Party at Alibi on Thursday, the Showcase at Speed on Friday, and End of the Weak on Sunday. Thanks to Courtney Adams, Mike $, Nasty Nes, EQ, David Muhammad, Justo Faison, & DJ G Brown and shouts to Jessica, Davey D, Alma, DJ Ran, Kate Livingston, Kev Brown, Kuttin Kandi, DJ Kut, DJ Fusion, D, Corporate Ken, Buddha, everybody @ Teflon Muzik, DJ Splif, DJ Bluesteel, Chill Will, Nick Huff, Nathan Sheard, Whutzisnaim, Mii Mii, Supreme, The Wonder Twins, Wayneski, this year's NC contingent--The Butta Team, Resident, Bumrush, Kaze & Forge and everybody else, you know who you are. My favorite performances were definitely Jean Grae, Immortal Technique, Masta Killa (the GZA performed 2 songs from Liquid Swords!), Smif N'Wesson, Comp, The Unusual Suspects, Guru, Jeru and Lord Finesse's hosting skills at SOB's on Wednesday. Unfortunately I missed the Public Enemy performance where Bridget Nielson set White women back 50 years... although I heard about it in graphic detail! "Sound Barrier" by Trini Don on Clef Records is one of the hottest records of the YEAR. You need it in your life. The mixtape "Chela 4 President" is dropping next week. Get ready!"... Raw-B (KUSF-SF): " Big thanks to the lovely Lizz Fields for taking time to stop by the show this past Sunday. She's 100% soul and has the kind of voice that gives you goosebumps. Her new album By Day, By Night is in stores now. If you've been sleeping on one of Philly's best kept secrets, here's your chance to catch up: http://music.download.com/3607-5-0.html qt=Lizz+Fields&searchType=0&genreList=5

I also want to big up Dave Paul, founder and head honcho at S.F.'s own Bomb Records, for stopping by the show with grip of new releases. My man single handidly re-energized the D.J. scene with his Return Of The D.J. records and he's kept busy throughout the years releasing quality music. Nac-One and DJ T-Rock were also in the building melting mics and tearing it up on the turntables. Three new releases from Bomb records dropped this week including Azeem's Show Business, Nac-One's Natural Reaction, and DJ JS-1's Audio Technicians. If you are not aware of these artists, here's some free downloads to get you up to speed:

Jay Butler (KPSU-OR): " Another crazy week for Sox/Yankees fans. Go Sox! Libretto - one of Portland's finest in the studiowith brand new releases off of his "Illoette" LP and an interview to boooot. Stay tuned for performances by Grand Master Flash and Omegha Watts of LightHeaded all in the month of November. Bomb DJ squad (SF) coming through next week.Ra Scion (Seattle) in the place to be. Watch out"... Nesto (WODU-VA): " What's good people? Congrats to NES and everyone else that put in the work for the Hustle Conference. I heard it was a big success, but I was not able to attend. Unfortunately, at the last minute something came up and I had to back out of the trip. Glad I didn't buy that plane ticket now. I will definitely be there next year"... Kristyles (717HipHop.com): " Ok peoples back to business, Shout's to everyone I ran into at Rapattacklives.com/Hustle 2004, I had a ball up in NYC, then reality struck we I got back on the amtrack back to PA and had to get up for work the next day, Let's keep building on this conference, if you missed it, stay tuned for next years line up"... Nate Abney (WKDU-PA): " To everyone I saw at CMJ/H.U.S.T.L.E. 2004,what a great time had by all. I got to know Queens, NY pretty well during my stay but still wound up in Brooklyn before it was all over. Highlights of my NY trip include: Wednesday: Arriving with no place to stay and then having three separate offers now thats love. Seeing Lone Catalysts perform at Joe's Pub where I heard a JA RULE song I actually liked. Seeing BABS and BUCKSHOT brody dude at the door at Joe's Pub. Watching 9th Wonder spin a set of songs he produced at the Scion party. QUEST Love also spun. Me and Semp riding the train everyday. Thursday: Seeing everyone drunk at the meet and greet except me.Taking every piece of music given out(Spectre and Def Jam meet and greets). Seeing Heltah Skeltah perfrom together. Being not so politely frisked by security at the Thursday Scion party.

Friday: Seeing Black Sheep, Comp, Jeru, Lil DAP,and Guru all in one show. Being out with DAN SHORES, BIG DREW,LEGEND (TAKEDOWN) and SEMP and messing with some chick who looked like she wanted to go home with us but then I remembered Tupac and went to MCDONALDS as was the original plan. Saturday: With 20 seconds left finding Todd Pinkston in the end zone to beat JJ BROWN 53-50 in Madden. And last but not least answering for the 500th time where is OPAL and MIKE JAX? BIG UPS: NES, JESSICA, KATE, DOUBLE,J, SEMP, ALMA, COURTNEY ADAMS, LEGEND, SEAN (KOCH), and all the others I came across (there are too many to name)"... Kazzeo (KHDC-CA): " So for the past week I was in NYC for the annual CMJ and H.U.S.T.L.E. conventions and it was non stop. Almost. I arrived at JFK airport on Tuesday night around
5pm and, once I got my bags, jumped on a shuttle bus headed to Port Authority. 2 hours later, I made it. Man, talk about false advertising because those bus rides are supposedly "express" service. Anyway, after arriving at Port Authority, I hopped on the 5 train uptown to meet my homeboy Latif and his girl Angel, the original lead singer of 80's group "The Cover Girls". Once in the Bronx, we posse'd over to City Island for some seafood. Man it tasted great. Once back in Manhattan, I linked up with Nasty Nes and YSL and made our way to Justin's for an event sponsored by Teflon Muzik. Very nice place and a lot of heavy hitters in spot such Jinx Da Juvy, DJ Ran, Kimora and Russell Simmons to name a few. Wednesday I was in BIG TROUBLE. The food from City Island left my insides in shambles and for the next 2 days I was out of commission. No energy, no appetite, etc. It was ugly. Wednesday I did nothing but try to sleep. On Thursday, I began showing signs of life and energy which allowed me to make some appearances. Along with my peoples Nasty Nes, Jason D, Chill Will, J-Tyme, Nick Huff, YSL, and DJ Krystyles, I made it over to Baruch college for a panel discussion on the state of Hip Hop at college radio and such. Half way through it though, I was in need of some rest so I bounced back to the spot to relax. Later that day, around 5pm, I made my way to Table 50 with the same crew to experience the highlight of the week from a b-boy perspective. It was a meet & greet situation with live dj's on the wheels and plenty of industry folk and dj's just networking. As I walked downstairs to the room, I heard the highlight before I actually saw it firsthand. There, right before my eyes, was DJ Jazzy Jay (Zulu Nation) rockin' on the turntables and none other than Grandmaster Caz rockin' the mic. Words can't explain how much of a void was filled for me in seeing this authentic example of Hip Hop as it was meant to be. I'll never forget this.

Later that night, it was a the showcase over at Club Opaline. The stage was packed with performances by Black Moon, Smif & Wessun, Sean Price, Jean Grae, Dirty Rat, Frank White and many more. Friday, Teflon Muzik held a luncheon at
Baruch College which was off the chain. Lots of dj's, lots of music, and lots of food. Later that night was the big bash at Club Shelter featuring Jeru The Damaja, Lil Dap, Guru from Gangstarr, DJ Evil D and many more. Saturday was a day to spend sight seeing and buying some gifts. At night though, it was a scavenger hunt. I spent the majority of the night, along with my man Jason D, trying come up on some bootleg dvd's around Times Square. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful. Oh well. Sunday was my day to pack and get ready to fly out at 6:30pm. However, there was one thing I still needed to do. I made my way downtown to Fat Beats to pick some records. Man, I could have easily dropped a couple hundred in there. They had some real heat. All in all, despite the sickness, I had a great time. I look forward to next years extravaganza. Shouts to everyone I ran into while in NYC. Nasty Nes, YSL, Jason D, Nick Huff, Krystyles, J-Tyme, Chill Will, Edgie Soprano, Angie @ Teflon, Angel & Latif @ www.la-entertainment.com, DJ Ran, Romeo @ Teflon, Jinx Da Juvy, Ike Dirty, Jeru, Lil Dap, DJ Kut from Power 105, Wonder Twinz, Davey D, Lady T, DJ Chela, Eric Parler and the cats at Jive Records, DJ Haze, Jessica from Spectre, Alma @ Room Service, Double J, El Gant, Rick Bettemit & Cleavon at Atlantic, Kevvy Kev, Kate Wolfson, Beni B, Tash from the Alkaholiks, Mike Franco, DJ EQ, and anyone I may have forgotton, sorry. I didn't mean to. Holla back"... Jayforce (WRFG-Atlanta): " Wasup Y'all? It's  been really crazy for me as of late, but I'm starting to get a handle on things a little. It also doesn't help that I don't have reliable people around me to help hold it down. Recent interns have been givin' the boot because they just want to get on the guestlist to shows or free music without puttin' in the work I need them to do. Our radio show has been extended for an additional hour so we hittin' ATL with 4 hours of hiphop instead of our usual 3, but overalll Ain't nothing change with the radio or television shows though. Big ups to my partners on the radio DJ Rastaroot & DJ Legacy. They've both have been very busy lately so much so that they haven't been on the air with me in about 2 months. Rastaroot has been spinning at various gigs around the world (he's leaving
for
Italy) and he's also acting as DJ & manager to Phife Dawg of Tribe Called Quest. DJ Legacy has also been Dj'ing various gigs around the world (He just got back from Finland) and is now on tour with MTV. Hopefully I can get a VJ gig with MTV? Legacy look out for ya bwoy! LOLIt's been a little more difficult without those guys around because I really don't have good help sometimes in the studio....Some interns & stuff just want to get free passes to shows or free gear or music, but don't want to put in the work so I don't show love that often. In the meantime make sure y'all check me out whenever you're in the ATL. One L"... Edgie Kokoski (WUNH-NH): " I'm broke. I'm beat up. I'm overtired. I have a billion records and cds to listen to. It means that I survived H.U.S.T.L.E. 2004/CMJ!

First off, big shout out to my man Nasty Nes for organizing an incredible event that helped to bring us all back together again. Second off, big shout out to my first fam The Double J and Doujah Raze for putting me up at Trilogy HQ for the long weekend. These guys put up with my drunkeness, polarized hip hop rants, bad jokes and general defiling of their home. Honorable mention to my new buddy DJ A-Beats for joining in the fun. Of course, the trip had plenty of high lights and low lights. What are they? Funny you should ask! I have listed the most prominent below:
Highlights:

1. Getting to
New York and back without getting shot, stabbed, or fucked up.
2. Finding out that I was a taller man than Guru.
3. Finding the best digging spot in the world (courtesy of Double J)
4. Going to Fat Beats and leaving without my credit cards maxed out.
5. Seeing Heltah Skeltah perform.
6. Jumping in the booth with Doujah Raze to record a skit for his upcoming album. (I got my 2.5 lines right after about 50 takes.)
7. Seeing Doujah and DJ A-Beats nearly beat down some scraggly hippie that cut us in line for a slice.
8. The outfit that Chase Killz was wearing at the Table 50 meet and greet.
9. The skee ball sized length of drink tickets that Jessica and Shaw gave me at the Table 50 meet and greet.
10. Meeting Davey D, whose website I have visited everyday for like the past 6 years.

Lowlights:
1. Getting to
New York and back. The Greyhound bus with the cesspool bathroom is not traveling in style.
2. The price of drinks. The best was when I bought a $9 drink and some dumb bitch kicked it over 2 seconds later. Trifling whore.
3. Lugging 75 pounds of vinyl in my bursting suitcase thru the subway and Port Authority.
4. Going to Fat Beats and not finding enough vinyl to max my credit cards out.
5. Seeing Jean Grae perform. I know everybody loves her because she is a dope female rapper. But the bottom line is that her bitchiness caused my Trilogy fam to get bumped from the Thursday night line up. Then she got on stage and complained about the crowd and said that "she had better things to do". Maybe I'll have better records to play when her next single comes out. Check yourself Jean. You're not platinum yet baby!
6. Homeless people. The best was when I was on the train and a homeless guy asked me and the crew for change by calling us "caucasians". What an endearing way to panhandle. "Shithead" or "Honkey" would have at least been a more humorous approach...
7. Watching the Red Sox get demolished 19-8 and almost dashing my hopes for this series.
8. Meeting Ali Shaheed Muhammad, who was cool, but told me that the Tribe reunion was a no-go.
9. Not sipping on any "Incredible Hulk"
10. Getting about as much action as a third string quarterback.

Overall though, a great experience with some great people. I want to thank everybody who built with me or gave me records/drinks. I love y'all for that! Here's my random shout out list in no particular order: Double J, Doujah Raze, DJ A-Beats, Nasty Nes, Jessica, Shaw, Chase Killz, Alma, Wes Jackson, Doug Nyce, Guru, Solar, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Statik Selektah, Krumb Snatcha, Kev Brown, Peter Rosenberg, Angie Hunt, K8 Wolfson, DJ Kazzeo, Davey D, Dru Ha, Shucky Ducky, Sean Price, Rock, Rick Betemit, Ice Shuler, Sean @ Koch, Wonder Twinz, Nathan Sheard, Kenn Starr, Kaze, Forge & Amen, Whutsiznaim, Courtney Adams, Dres, Oddisee, Ethan Holban and Semp Rok. If I missed you, except my apologies. I'm still a little hungover"... DJ Yoshi (Mixtapes-NJ): " Congrats to DJ Clinton Sparks for being named Mixshow DJ of the Year @ MPS. There's something that I'd like to bring up now that might upset a few folk, but dude needs to get his shine on. Y'all are well aware that Kevin Lyttle's new single: Drives Me Crazy has a feature of my boy Mr. Easy. Wanna know the sucka s*** though? That joint has always been Easy's cut! Dude's been singing and performing that joint since 2003! I just thought I'd say something to let Easy get his shine on! Shouts to EVERY1 that came thru and supported the CMJ&Hustle Conferences. The highlights on my end definitely had to be:

Z-Trip(always dope). Jazzy Jay&Grandmaster Cas
