Rap
Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:
Big
Rube
(KOOP-Austin,
TX): "The Urban Assault Show is one of
Austin's
longest running non-commercial hip-hop radio programs.
For over 9 years, a collection of local, and now
nationally recognized, hip-hop enthusiasts have take the
helm behind KOOP's boards, giving central Texas a truely
one of a kind experience. This year the Urban Assault
Show has been passed on to a collection of highly
motivated individuals who have been and are heavily
dedicated to
Austin's
extraordinary local Hip-Hop scene. Upon this transfer,
some problems have developed. Due to a technicality in
procedure, KOOP has removed one hour of the Urban
Assault's two hour show. The Urban Assault staff was
stunned - to say the least - to hear of this decision.
However, they have granted us a meeting to
re-discuss this issue and the life of this program. We,
as the staff for the Urban Assault, have decided to not
just sit around waiting for someone to decide our fate.
We know the importance of this show, and we truely
understand its accomplished history. From the countless
national spotlight features including recent and past
interviews with Hip-Hop legends (ie. De La Soul,
Talib Kweli), to the spotlight of incredible
local talented artists (ie. Bavu, Tee,
Element, Mirage, NickNack), to the
dedication that goes on behind the scenes in the
production phases...the Urban Assault has done its best
job to give listeners an unbelieveable - not to mention,
unique - experience that you will not be able to find
anywhere. We believe the Urban Assault is necessary.
It's not a desire or a
meaningless voice, but rather its a movement that
defines many of our musical passions. Now it's time that
this passion reflects action. We have created an online
petition to keep Urban Assault on air Sundays from 6 to
8pm on 91.7FM KOOP. Please sign up and help
support the Urban Assault. You can sign the online
petition by visiting this address:

(WOWL-FL):
"I have recently signed a contract to do a video show
out of Miami, where I'm gonna be on of the hosts, we
will be starting
production shortly, so I would like to know if I can get
videos of your artists to play on the show, as it will
be a countdown oriented show. Please let me know if you
can send me videos or direct me to somebody who can help
me. Mail your videos to:

Chela
(WXDU-NC):
"Chela 4 President" has been reviewed in the February
issue of The Source! I still haven't seen the review,
but from what I hear it's a good review and Phife
Dawg and Immortal Technique get a shout. Also
check out AKIR in the Unsigned Hype column in the
same issue--it's the Ludacris cover. Good lookin
out to Tory and Gotti for making that
happen. It's a good way to start out the year. Embedded
Reporter dropping soon! I had the opportunity to hear
Angela Davis speak at Duke on Monday for
MLK Day which was amazing...
DJ
Toast (WRPI-NY): "The 16 Year Radio
Anniversary Celebration for DJ Toast is scheduled for
March 12, 2005! Last year's show made the "Best Of 2004"
lists here by many music critics and publications...
DJ Graffiti (Mixtapes-MI): "Aiight ya'll. I'm
already slipping! My mind is gone at the moment because
I've been out in Detroit for the past week managing an
exhibit for Scion at the North American
International Auto Show. I'm sure many of you have seen
the Scion xB modified by Five Axis with
the turntables in the back? Well, if you haven't then
you should. We have it set up down at the auto show and
it's getting ALL of the attention. You can see an
article about it here:
