What's upper? Happy belated Mothers Day. Yo, I had a
great weekend. My pinoy brotha from anotha moutha, Ty-C
aka Ty Campbell from Delicious Vinyl &
his wife, Lilyan celebrated their wedding here in
Riverside, CA over the weekend. They both met in
Thailand back in 2001 & got married overseas. It was so
nice that they decided to celebrate their marriage here
in the states with their closest families & friends. I
happened to be in the house as his emcee & dj for the
event & yo, I felt like at home cause his mom & dad went
all out with a huge buffet of filipino food, free
drinks, a band playing Skaa music, guest dj Bearman
from L.A.'s Power 106, & several Hawaiian
dance shows featuring his nieces & a cool filipino
tribal dance by the Bibak Experience dance troop
(see photos above). I've known Ty since his early days
at Red Ant, to MCA & now still doing his
thing over at Delicious Vinyl. Congrats to you & yours
pare' & thank you for making me & my lady feel at home &
feel like we are a part of your family! You can email Ty
& congratulate him online at:

You
will soon be hearing a lot about an upcoming Bay area
emcee by the name of Flii Stylz. This kat is
gonna kill it on the mic. His debut joint will be "Rize"
(Social Capitol) & it's also off the soundtrack
of this years hottest new motion picture "Rize."
"Rize" reveals a groundbreaking dance phenomenon that’s
exploding on the streets of South Central, Los Angeles.
Taking advantage of unprecedented access, this
documentary film brings to first light a revolutionary
form of artistic expression borne from oppression. The
aggressive and visually stunning dance modernizes moves
indigenous to African tribal rituals and features
mind-blowing, athletic movement sped up to impossible
speeds. “Rize” tracks the fascinating evolution of the
dance: we meet Tommy Johnson (Tommy the Clown),
who first created the style as a response to the 1992
Rodney King riots and named it “Clowning”, as well
as the kids who developed the movement into what they
now call Krumping. The kids use dance as an
alternative to gangs and hustling: they form their own
troupes and paint their faces like warriors, meeting to
outperform rival gangs of dancers or just to hone their
skills. For the dancers, Krumping becomes a way of life
- and, because it’s authentic expression (in complete
opposition to the bling-bling Hip-Hop culture), the
dance becomes a vital part of who they are. Like “Paris
is Burning” or “Style Wars” before it, “Rize”
illuminates an entire community by focusing on an
artform as a movement that the disenfranchised have
created. But the true stars of the film are the dancers
themselves: surrounded by drug addiction, gang activity,
and impoverishment, they have managed to somehow rise
above. The film offers an intimate, completely fresh
portrayal of kids in South Central as they reveal their
spirit and creativity. These kids have created art - and
often family - where before there was none...

"What's up guys! I hope everyone is doing well. We're
approaching the homestretch with the school year, and
I've been in the library so much, that my girlfriend is
starting to get jealous...;) Even ough the school year
is nearly done, I'm still going to be reporting for WMHB
during the summer, cause Hip Hop doesn't take a break
for the summer! I'll be down doing work in Boston, and
will pop up to Colby to handle the station biz. Hit me
up if I can do anything for you!
"Diggin' In The Crates" News:
The boys of Time Machine called in Monday
night to give an update about what they're up to. Big
shout ot to TM for givin' me a little of their
time and I wish them good luck on their World Tour!
Technically, this week's show was the last of the
season, but I'm gonna keep going until they haul me out
of the studio!("Diggin' In The Crates, Monday 10pm-12am,
www.colby.edu/wmhb)
P.S. I also gotta give a big shout out to The New York
Times for doing some solid expose's on Hip Hop recently.
They've had a great article article on The Game a
while back, and they just has an extensive on the recent
rise of Houston Hip Hop. You usually only see rappers in
the news when they've gotten in trouble with the law, so
I'm always happy when they present Hip Hop fairly
presented in a good light"...

(WZND-IL): "It has been another GREAT "non-calender"
year working with you all in this hip-hop game. As sad
as it might be, -slight sarcasm- the school term is over
next week. WZND stays on during the summer, but goes off
air for one full month until June 10th. The summer MD
and beyond to next year is my man Javier Evelyn.
All inquiries to spins go to him. I am taking off for
the summer session and working up in Chicago. You can
reach me at the usual
brian.zisook@gmail.com e-mail
address and on my cell at 847.373.4013. I will be back
at WZND in early August and we start charting material
again the second weekend of that month. Music during the
summer is still charted, however because of month
separations between sessions, it is not reported. During
the summer I will be looking for artist drops, interview
possibilities for the Fall term, performance interests,
etc... Keep up with both Javier and I so you stay at the
top of our list comes the big push a few months down the
line in August. It has been an absolute pleasure and I
look forward to nothing but continued good times next
year. If you still would like a copy of the Saturday
Night Party Mixtape Vol. 2, hit me back with a mailing
address and we'll send you out some copies.
Below is just the final TOP 40 for the this next week.

Kazzeo
(KHDC-CA):
" It was revealed this past weekend that the defense
lawyers in the Michael Jackson case plan to call,
as a witness, Stevie Wonder. What the f*ck? How
is he a witness to anything? The guy is BLIND! Even if
he wanted to, he can't see anything. The saga continues
between Foxy Brown and Jacki O.
Foxy claims there was never any sort of physical
altercation while Jackie O has responded with a "dis"
track entitled "T.K.O." where she paints a different
picture. In the song, she talks about "chin checking"
Foxy at a club in Miami.
I'd like to thank Cinemax for it's nightly
routine showings of "Busty Cops", "Sapphire Girls", and
"Bikini Cavegirl". LOL. Speaking of cable, I had a
chance to catch "Baadassss" the other night. For those
who don't know, it's a semi documentary about the trials
and tribulation behind the making of the classic "Sweet
Sweetbacks Baadasssss Song". The original was directed
by Melvin Van Peebles and this was directed by
his son, Mario. It's a really good movie and I
would definitely suggest it. So who heard Bizzy Bone
going off the deep end? If you haven't heard it,
here's the link. This guy should change his name to
Loco Bone. The madness starts around 2 minutes at:
http://www.damagecontrolradio.org/mp3/042805BIZZY.mp3
Can someone expain to me how the hell you can be
engaged to a chick, have her leave you at the alter, and
then find her a week later and still want to be married
to her? Is that dude retarded or what? I mean how much
more obvious is it that she don't want you.But then
again this is the same world where Ying Yang Twins
go platinum while Gang Starr struggles for 15
years to barely reach gold. Granted I amy bit a bit late
on this, but I just read that Pharoahe Monche has
signed to Shady Records. Now I've been a fan of
his since Organized Konfusion dropped in 91. And
despite a couple misses, I have stayed a fan. However,
if my concerns become reality and he begins screaming "GGGGGGGG
G-Unit" on his tracks, I will greatly lose faith in
Hip Hop.
Before I bounce, let me wish all the mothers out there a
belated happy Mothers Day. Especially to my "lil sis"
Baby C. By the way, welcome back to the industry"...
Edgie
Kokoski
(WUNH-NH):
"I had the pleasure this past week of interviewing
Dre Robinson of Mass Appeal/Pollymore Music
on my radio program. Aside from being a gracious and
talkative guest, this guy spit one of the most
remarkable live freestyles that I have ever witnessed in
7 years of radio. Almost 3 minutes in length, the flow
was curse free and had only one awkward pause. Keep an
eye on this guy. Big shout to my fam at Foundation Media
for hooking up the session. Greeting cards pretty much
suck in general, as they are always way too sappy or
feature jokes that are about as funny as a funeral. I
found this sentiment to ring true this past weekend as I
shopped for a Mother’s Day card. You can imagine my
disgust when I came across one card with a backer
hawking the scenario “Mother from Cat”. Indeed, the card
was designed to be given from a cat to the human
“Mother” that takes care of it. So how does the cat buy
this card? Obviously, an accomplice must be enlisted to
purchase the card on behalf of the cat. Which leads us
to the moral of the story: if you are buying a card to
give to your girlfriend/wife/grandmother in proxy from
her cat, do us all a favor and take a nap in your closed
garage with the car running. I read this week that
Lil Kim is being sued by two guys who claim that
they were never paid $100,000 for writing songs on her
“La Bella Mafia” LP. I’m not sure which is worse, that
Kim ganked them on the money, or that these guys had to
publicly admit to writing songs on “La Bella Mafia”. I
think I’d prefer the ganking.I don’t know when “Screwed
& Chopped” songs became the hottest music video trend,
but if I wanted to listen to slow and unintelligible
music, I’d put a few near-dead batteries in my walkman.
Screwed & Chopped songs sound like listening to someone
who has cerebral palsy trying to read aloud. No
thanks!(And yes, I know that I’m going to hell for that
cerebral palsy comment. Rest assured, the one way ticket
was purchased long ago!)"...
