What's upper? I hope you had a very good 3 day Memorial
Day weekend. It was great seeing Rick Betemit
from Atlantic Records in town. We chowed down
over on Sunset Blvd.'s Katana food spot (see photo
above) with nuttin' but first class Japanese food. Rick
is one of the few OG'z in this biz who is still employed
& is still down with RAP ATTACK's
vision! Also in town was my lil' brotha, DJ
R-Sin from Seattle's KUBE 93. This is one kat
who should write a book on "Everything You've Always
Wanted To Know About Serato But Were To Ask!" And
remember Mr Pete? He too was in town chillin' &
he laced me with a video copy of his Tucson video TV
show, "NXT LEVEL." He really has a tight video show out
in AZ & if you've got a new video that needs exposure,
holla at Mr Pete for the hook up at:
mrpete@tmail.com
or call him at (520) 270-2095...
Big
ups to our own L Precise outta Canada's KVRI.
He MP3'd me a new cut from the Black Eyed Peas
new album, "Bebot!" What's so dope about this cut is
it's all in Tagalog (filipino) & da ish is bangin'. Our
pare Apl D. Ap is truly representin'... Peep out
this weeks "What's Upper" section below as
BringTheNoise.com's own, Wildman Steve gives
us a heads up on the new Public Enemy tracks.
Eighteen years ago, 1987, PE made their mark upon the
Euro-UK as part of the Def Jam '87 tour. Back in
those days, Thatcher was Prime Minister,
Nelson Mandela was still in South Africa prison &
Reagan was our U.S. President. The dvd, "It Takes A
Nation: The First London Invasion 1987" (MVD Music
Video) takes you back in time visually with Public
Enemy. This dvd is TIGHT featuring live footage of PE
performing their classics, "Bring The Noise," Rebel
Without A Pause," Public Enemy Number 1," "Too Much
Posse" & more! A must for your Hip-Hop collection. For
more info contact Clint Weiler at MVD online at:
clint@musicvideodistributors.com or call (800)
888-0486 ext: 115... My boy Sleep from

Sleep's album "Christopher" by giving my girl Sam
at Up Above a holla at (562) 983-9999 ext: 102 or online
at: sam@upabove.com...
West coasts' own Medaphoar aka MED has
just laced me with his new album "Push Comes To Shove" (Stones
Throw). The album features production by Madlib,
Oh No & J Dilla. Med's subject matter
reflects the struggles & hustles of a young black man
caught between the street life of
Oxnard,
Cali & the nightlife of L.A.. Peep the album & to get
laced, holla at Jessica over at SPECTRE Music
at (213) 368-1600 ext: 17 or online at:
jessica@spectremusic.com... Another west coast
emcee y'all need to lookout for is Blac with his
debut joint "Mardigras"(Real Talk Ent). His ish
will be droppin' real soon. Also outta Jackson, MS is
artist Corleone with "Holla Ooh If You Like That"
(Rich Boy Ent). This kat's ish is like krunk
meets NY beats & it works! Stay tuned... Weeks ago I

& his debut single "Rize" (Social Capital/Forster
Bros./EMI) & this week it debuts OUT THE BOX
at NUMBER ONE on our RAP ATTACK CONFERENCE

Wildman Steve
(BringTheNoise.com): "Peace Nes, I know it's been
a minute since you last heard from me. But I'm not one
talk unless I have something to talk about. Well I have
something to speak about now. The new Public Enemy joint
is hot the single New Whirl Odor produced by the
legendary Johnny Juice and Bring That Beat Back
is crazy sick as well. I'm really excited about this
Chuck and Flav are really bringing that PE
flavor back on these joints. Hopefully, when cats get
this joint they will give these brothers made burn on
the radio, mix tapes, etc. As for me I'm in process of
getting involved with a new internet radio situation
coming to you soon. That's right Strong Island's veteran
radio DJ is about to bring it. I will update you soon
with the info. as soon as I work out a few things. And
as always thank you for your support over the years and
may God continue to bless you and everything you
do"...

(WRUW-OH):
"This past weekend the Cleveland Hip-Hop community
suffered a terrible loss. Reggie Brown aka
Thankgod from State of
Mind
and
Rulership Records was murdered. He was a good
person as well as one of the dopest mc's i've ever came
across. All of us here who have had a chance to build
with him and break bread are torn apart right now. They
still don't have a suspect. I ask that all of you please
take time to visit
www.rulershiprecords.com and check
out some of his music, it needs to be heard. Thank
you"...
Shinyo
(WNHU-New
Haven): "Highlights of the past few days: Seeing GZA
kill it in New Haven along with J Live,
Vast Aire, Vordul & C-Rayz. And also
hearing Chino XL on JAMN 94.5 in Boston
and Gee Spin dropping Enough Beef...and word to the new
Common joint"...
A-Beats
(WGMU-Washington,
DC): "My trip to Bolivia was wonderful, extremely busy,
but great. I am glad I got out of there before all the
strikes and marches began because I hear
La
Paz
is
completely shut down. I hope they resolve that situation
promptly. I hope everybody has gone out and gotten the
Common LP. Im loving it!!! My only complaint is
that I wish it was longer, but that isn’t a bad
complaint at all. Good to see Common back!!!!! Get at me
if you need anything. Holla"...
