What's
upper? I remember it like it was just yesterday & I was
in Jr. High School in Seattle when I first heard music
from the Chi-Lites "Oh Girl." This single changed
my entire life & heavily influenced me into loving R&B
music forever. Eugene Record, leader of the
1970's vocal group the Chi-Lites, died last Friday in
Chicago at his daughter's south suburban home following
a long battle with cancer. He was 64. (R.I.P.)...

" Whats up fam. I hope Phi has been treating you
well. I've been around just here trying to make more
action happen for our community. So here's the deal. I'm
looking for key people in different cities to be
involved in fan teams. I've been setting up an
infrastructure where I won't be dependant solely on the
individuals working these projects. Each of the projects
I’ll be distributing will have national press, plus
we’ll are working on the national commercials for these
projects on local cable stations across the US. Honestly
I’m just tired of whack music and I’ve been working on
an effective method to get some dope hip-hop out on a
national level. If you feel what I’m talking about and
want to know more about joining, just reply and I’ll
break you off with the info. Here's my info:

" Its hot as all in the Illadelph this week. My squad is
playing like it wants a wildcard and Rocksteady
is just about here and I can't wait.My favorite question
is always will this be the year the Whispers sing
Rocksteady at Rocksteady? I should be in NYC
Thursday-Sunday so I'll try to hit up as many people as
I can. We got a few callers last week on E-Soundbites.
Slowly but surely we're getting our fanbase back I hope.
Kenny Rogers needs a hug and Bernard Hopkins
was robbed (typical things that happen to Philly
athletes). Can anybody help me out with DE LA and
Common tickets on the 23rd. I've seen this show
before but what the heck I'll go see it again. In the
famous words of Harry Kalas I'm Outta Here"...
Jason-D
(KHDC
#2-CA): " Now I know there a lot of you looking
forward to seeing Jessica Simpson in Dukes of
Hazard but what the hell is up with all the throw back
movies? Scooby Doo, Herbie the Luv Bug, on and on with
this crap. Have we as a society just gotten so stupid
that we can't come up with any new shit? I just read
that they are contemplating making a Smurfs movie and
that shit just pushed me over the edge. If you can't
beat em, join em. I got a little song called, "Roxanne,
Roxanne." I'll start the bidding at $100k",,,
Max Brown (WMHB-ME): "What's up all?! I
hope everyone has been well. It's been pretty busy up
here and it's felt like the summer is just flying by!
Before I know it, I'll be back at school! (Senior year,
ahhhh!!) But, it's all good! A new school year means a
whole new "Hip Hop Nation" show and I'm totally psyched
to rock the whole state of Maine with the craziest Hip
Hop! On that note, I'm looking to getting drops for the
show, and if anyone knows artists that would be willing
to contribute some drops, I would be very grateful! Aw
man, I've got to keep this thing short this, so I'ma cut
to the chase and hit you with the hot stuff! Get at me
if there's anything I can do for you! Script For Drops:
(Something like) "Hey, you've touched down in "The
Hip Hop Nation" with DJ Double A on WMHB, central
Maine's #1 source for the hottest in Hip Hop!"...
Edgie
Kokoski
(WUNH-NH):
"I never thought that my home state would resemble the
Amazon Jungle, but here we are. You cannot move a step
outside without breaking into a sticky sweat. When I go
out to my car after work, grabbing the steering wheel is
like plunging your hands into the lava filled pits of
hell. The heat and humidity are so unbearable, that I
finally broke down and bought my first air conditioner.
I thought that it was basically the type of thing that
you tossed in the window and plugged in, but boy was I
wrong. After slicing my hand open, destroying the window
liner, dropping half the screws I needed out of my 2nd
story window, I finally got my apartment down to a
frosty 72 degrees. Now I just sit back and wait for the
outrageous electric bill to roll in…
Some
funny Hip-Hop tidbits that crossed my radar screen this
week:
Big Tigger “I’m Not Gay”-
Big Tigger had to come out this week to make a point of
the fact that he is not gay. I could be wrong, but when
you are holding a press conference to deny being gay,
there’s probably overwhelming evidence that you really
are.
Eminem “I’m Retiring” -
Rumors are floating that “Encore” was the last time that
we will hear Mr. Mathers gracing the microphone in a
long play format. I can understand his desire to focus
on production, but why “retire”. Why do rappers feel the
need to use that term? Can’t they just say, “I’m sick of
making albums right now, and I’m taking a break”. These
artists have to be high school drama queens and say “I
quit” so that all of us hip hop geeks swoon and beg “No,
please don’t leave.” I just hope that Em will stick to
his word like Master P, Jay-Z and Too Short.
When they said “I Quit”, they meant it god damn it!
U-God “I’m Mr. Xcitement” -
Wu-Tang underachiever U-God preps his
sophomore release “Mr. Xcitement”. "Mr. Xcitment
ain't just about partying...I took my time [on this
album], I didn't rush the shit” he beams. If it were
up to me, you could have taken the rest of my natural
life to finish this album. You may not have rushed
U-God, but I guarantee that no one will rush to the
record store if this disc is the crap fest that the last
one was. I had to beg the attendant at my local landfill
to let me dump my copy there.
Well,
I’d better get going. I have to go watch the Red Sox
blow another easy win"...
