Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:
Karam
(CKRK-Canada):
" I just got back from a family reunion/vacation to the
Canadian East Coast (Fredericton, NB). The airport was
stupid. Luckily my flight was only delayed by 30 mins,
it was packed and they actually let me on (the flight
was over booked, fucking bastards). Anyways, there are a
lot of people that got fucked cuz of the latest plane
accident. You can see it peoples faces walking through
the terminal. And the announcements over the P.A. system
are pretty crazy, here’s sample “Those of you who flew
in yesterday from Jamaica…” , and I’m thinking “Shit,
they’re still here.” Bumped into my cousin who had to
come back to get her baggage cuz they wouldn’t let
anyone out on the tarmac to get them out of the plane
yesterday due to the bad weather…she also sat on the
airplane for an extra four hours. Other than that,
everything’s normal….sort of…It’s not always easy to
tell if things are normal. At this reunion, My
Grandfather told me a story of how he got high once cuz
he was in charge of guarding the hashish plants in his
village when he was a teenager. Also, I finally believe
my uncle, he was a huge player. He used to brag a lot to
me when I was a kid. He claims at the height of his game
he was averaging 2 new girls a week. And I always
thought he was full of shit until he picked up 2 girls
at the ice cream shop in front of us. “you know if my
wife and kid weren’t there we could’ve had ice cream
with those 2…” with his infamous smirk. Fucking
hilarious. Thanks for letting me share!"...
Shinyo
(WNHU-CT):
" Caught John Cena out in
New
Haven
(I missed 7L & Esoteric cause I was working).
Gotta say, I may not be feeling dude's shit too much,
but he puts on a pretty good show. Doesn't hurt that the
150-200 people there were hype as fuck and louder than
any crowd I've witnessed in Toad's Place. And peace to
Cena bringing Bumpy Knuckles on tour with him.
From what my man told me, he brings out 7L and Eso to
each of his shows as well. Chant of the night (he is a
pro wrestler, right?) goes to the over 21 side yelling
"WE DRINK BEER!" when Cena was comparing the two
sides"...
Edgie
Kokoski
(WUNH-NH):
"Well I had to dust off my most G’d up gear this past
weekend to attend a wedding for a family friend. I
rarely have to go to weddings, because most of my
friends are scared of long term commitment, and most of
their parents are scared of letting a known drunk like
me in the building. That being said, I had to outline
the things that bothered me most about this wedding:
Dork
Ushers
- No
sooner do my family and I arrive at the church, when we
are greeted by the band geek squad who are guarding the
church pews like they are Harry Potter first
editions. When we tell them that we are with the bride’s
party, they obnoxiously tell us that the bride “has too
many friends” and that we have to sit on the very vacant
groom’s side amongst their fellow Dungeons & Dragons
enthusiasts.
Bad
DJ
- I
knew I was in trouble when the DJ was a 50-something old
man in a bad suit. A placard reading “Music by John
Cox” adorned his pathetic excuse for a DJ set up.
Mr. Cox certainly lived up to his name. As if the tired
70’s tunes weren’t bad enough, his microphone system was
so distorted that every announcement sounded like the
teacher from the “Peanuts” cartoon.
Incompetent Bartenders
- I
don’t know how much training is required to bartend at a
wedding, but with 5 beers to choose from and a modest 25
liquor bottle array, it shouldn’t be hard. You know you
are in deep shit when the bartender asks you how to make
the drink you order. Thank God for that flask of
Hennessey VSOP in my jacket.
Small
Drinks
- As
a corollary to #3, I would love it if when the drink was
poured, it was in a cup bigger than the ones that I use
at the dentist to rinse my mouth out.
Tool
Groom
- So I had never met the groom before the wedding, but I
thought that I would be the “friendly guy” and go up
right away and introduce myself. On the way out of the
wedding, I again stick out my hand and say “Nice to meet
you, Congratulations, thanks for having me, etc.”. The
guy gives me a look like “Who the fuck are you, and why
are you talking to me?”. Hmm, real nice. Maybe I’ll
rifle through that pile of envelopes on the table on my
way out looking for loose cash. Or maybe I’ll just find
the car in the parking lot with cans tied to it and
leave a condom wrapper on the passenger seat. That
should make for a nice start to the honeymoon…
On to
hip hop madness. I heard this week that Big Pun’s
family is launching a clothing line. Considering Big
Pun’s size, wouldn’t they be better off launching a line
of Big Pun camping tents, or Big Pun car covers, or Big
Pun drapes? Just a thought.
The
city of Long Beach, California declared this week “Warren
G.” week. It must be a pretty slow week in Long
Beach to stoop to that level. Does Warren G. really need
a whole week? If I were the Mayor, I might allow for the
“Warren G. Memorial Dumpster”. I think a whole week is
pretty excessive for a man who sold 4 million records
once, and then 1 record on four million subsequent
tries. And if Warren G. gets a whole week, does that
mean that The Doveshack at least get their own
day? That’s when you know the world is coming to an
end"...
Bri-G
(Mixtape-NY):
"The Power Summit website is up and fully
functional.
WWW.THEPOWERSUMMIT.INFO If you know
anybody with a label who’d like to be a sponsor, tell em
to hit up Jermaine over here. He’s handling all
the music label sponsors. If you’re trying to get
through to me or Radio this time of year, don’t get
pissed if it takes a minute. I’m your favorite Dj’s
favorite promoter right now. So I’m tied up all day. Day
5 of diet, sobriety, and running after work….no progress
to report. Jason Giambi is obviously back on
steroids. Does anybody know what happened to the white
dude with dreds from Young Black Teenagers? Just
a thought" HOLLA AT CHA BOY,

(WMSE-WI): "
Friends, fam, and music constituates.... thought I'd
throw you all the link to an article about our radio
show that is in this week's Shepherd Express
here in Milwaukee (Milwaukee's newspaper with the
2nd largest circulation). I'm very proud to be a part of
this and thought I'd share it with those of you who I
thought would be interested... this is the most shine
our show has ever gotten in Milwaukee, and we are very
humbled. I want to note that there mistakenly is no
mention in the article of one of the show's co-founders
(Jay Bee) who did the show from 98-'01. He should
have been acknowledged. He was instrumental. Outside of
that, it's a cool interview. Here is the link:
