What's
upper? Is it just me or whenever you turn on your TV or
change channels, do you see Gary Coleman with
that "Cash Call" commercial? Also props to HBO's
"Entourage" series as artist
Saigon
& his
music made a dope cameo in last weekends episode...
Remember the name & music from Def Jam's
newest signing, Tru-Life! This kat was on our
Conference Call last week & I'm telling you,
it was like witnessing history in the making as a new
star is about to emerge! For real, Tru-Life really
represents his lyrics. He can be comparable to hearing
Tupac spit for the first time. This homeboy is
for real so look out cause he may be the next big thing
in Hip-Hop! The new N.O.R.E. featuring
Pharrell "I'm A G" (Def Jam) is gettin' lots
of early love. Peep it... Remember Suga Free? A
lot of you may remember him off of the old DJ Quik
joints from back in the day. Suga Free is back doin'
his own thing with "You Know My Name" (Bungalo
Records). His music & flows are still tight & after
hearing this single, I felt like I was peepin' out some
original old school Cameo ish for the first time.
Suga Free droppin' soon... Another BIG BUZZ goin' on
with the new Miri Ben-Ari featuring Styles P
"We Gonna Win" (Universal) single. An
OUT THE BOX RAP ATTACK CONFERENCE CALL PICK,
this joint sounds like a fa' sho winner... Peep out the
new project by Big Boi (Outkast), The
Purple Ribbon Allstars with Kryptonite" (So So Def/Virgin)
featuring Big Boi, Killer Mike, Black Owned
C-Bone & Rock D Legend. This cut is da ish.
This cut is gonna make some big noise on the real...La
Bruja makes her phat debut with "Bruheria" (Ill
Tongue) by taking the classic Big Pun sample
from "100%" & flippin' it to make this joint solid! Also
peep her track Fuego" featuring B-Real from
Cypress Hill which also has some real tight flavas
to it! For more info, log onto:
www.LaBrujaMusic.com. To get laced, give our
dawg Wes a shout over at Ch'rewd: (314)
785-0171... Dwele "I Think I Love You (Virgin)
is gettin' a big early buzz on his ish. Don't sleep on
what could be a BIG record for Dwele... Yay area's own
B-Legit is making his strongest comeback this year
with his new sdingle "Guess Who's Back" featuring
E-40 (SMC Recordings/Universal)...

Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:
Brian
Gaffey
aka
DJ Bri G (Mixtapes-NY): "Now, about The
Power Summit. I sent out a press release about
the Super Radio Mixoff. You have to submit a 10
minute mix to the Baka Boyz and could win a
syndicated show on Super Radio. Also, for those who
signed up for the Producer/Remix Battle, Sony
will be contacting you about all the details. If you
have no RSVP’d to me or Radio Rahiem yet, get
that in ASAP. Space is limited and I can’t hold spots
for people. Wackest Hip Hop Line In A Long Time Award:
Bow Wow - Hold You Down “I need to work on it like a
crack addict home from rehab.” - if anybody else said a
line like this in Hip Hop, they would be banished
immediately, however, 12 year old, overweight, females
seem to love Bow Wow and keep his career alive. If you
can throw a baseball, please call Theo Epstein,
GM of the Boston Red Sox and let him know
that you are available for bullpen help. I’ve been
thinking about making the call myself, but I’m too busy.
I’m in week 3 of sobriety, healthy eating. I’m at 178
pounds after starting at 183. I actually don’t miss the
drinking as much as I thought I would. I mean, by no
means am I gonna stop forever, but its nice waking up on
a Saturday morning without a headache and being able to
get some shit done before noon. With that said, I
haven’t had my true test yet, cus I haven’t been around
my boys since I started this and I’ve been known to
succumb to peer pressure"...

DJ
Toast (WRPI-NY): "So I survived another year
at Scribble Jam. I rolled with about 20 other
people from the 518, MC's, DJ's and even our own tattoo
artist who setup his equipment at the hotel. R.A. the
Rugged Man killed it live. Prince Paul was
so-so, and Masta Ace "represented lovely", as did
One Be Lo. DJ Spare Change was the DJ
battle winner and he deserved it by far. Skratch
Bastid felt jerked, but I don't think it was all
that close. The guys who run Scribble Jam are a joke. I
know its hard to do, but after 10 years, you would think
they'd have their shit together. Nope. The best
performance of the event was by the Finger Print
Records crew (Nobs, Eibol & DJ Gyro).
Check them out. I predict big things from these guys.
http://www.fingerprint-records.com.
Shouts to everyone I saw at Scribble this year, Icon
the Mic King (who knocked Copywrite down with
one punch), R.A., Masta Ace, Wordsworth,
Pumpkinhead, Bekay, Matt from
Coalmine Records, Ethan at Fat Beats,
Oktober Zero and everyone else. Big shows coming
to Albany area soon, including the Cappadonna,
Killah Priest, R.A the Rugged Man & Icon the Mic
King tour and a free show on Labor Day by The
Perceptionists (Mr Lif, Akrobatik, DJ Fakts One)
in the park. If you want some of your promo stuff
distributed at the event by me (for free), let me know.
(see photo above)"...
L-Precise
(KVRI-Canada):
" Hey! Who is going to the Power Summit this
year? Holla back.I may be going but need someone to room
with. Any help would be appreciated !! Hit me back with
an email to:
lprecise@hotmail.com. Thanks!"...
Edgie
Kokoski
(WUNH-NH):
"It was that time of year this past weekend when I repay
all of the friends who have let me drunkenly destroy
their homes this past weekend as my little bro and I
hosted our annual “Kokoski Brothers BBQ & Beiruit Bash”.
As you may have guessed, the staples of the event are
grilling lots of meat and playing lots of beiruit (“beer
pong” to you people that suck at life). So I spent most
of Saturday partying and then most of Sunday cleaning up
the horrendous mess that I had made of my family’s home.
I don’t mind picking up trash, but what really burns my
ass are “wounded soldiers”. If you don’t know what a
wounded soldier is, I will tell you. It’s when someone
cracks open a beer and then abandons it half consumed.
It’s easily the worst crime against humanity imaginable.
I don’t know about how the rest of you feel, but I think
that 2005 is easily shaping up to being one of the worst
years for hip hop in recent history. Each week I
painstakingly try to find new music for my radio show
that doesn’t suck. Lately, I have found that I am
spinning more new mp3s than vinyl. That’s how sad it is.
I hope that the fourth quarter is better, because the
first three have been about as dope as cane made out of
flour. That’s word to Willie D! If anybody knows
where the real Curt Schilling is, please send him
home to New England. The guy who pitched for us last
year is no where to be found. If I have to watch him
blow another save against the lowly Detroit Tigers,
I may just have to take a bath with my toaster. I want
to shout out my man DJ Addition who engaged me in
an intellectual dialogue last week regarding my comments
about NASA. So I am taking a survey this week: Is
NASA a waste of time and money, yes or no? You
decide"...
Nate
Abney
(WKDU-PA):
" Well the rain has soaked us for the last two days here
giving us relief from the heat. It's Terrell Owens
not Terrell Reid, the Phils remain the
Phils. I spent most of last week at work. Now a free man
at my house I can reflect on the week that was. I'm
starting to look forward to CMJ, the show
with Little Brother and Dwele definitely
looks like heat for sure. Those of you who don't who
Little Brother is by now shame on you. The Flight
Brothers will be performing at L Heaxgone (between
16th and 17th and Sansom) on August 28th"...
Brian
Coulombe
(WBRS-MA):
" Howdy y'all, hope all is well with you...looks like a
busy week so getting this week's chart out early. We
have the DMC's coming up in Boston as well
as Non Phixion, OC, Hiero, etc on
the same night...craaazy! As always we have a ton going
on music wise at the station and we're surrounded by
quality records. The latest Smif N Wessun (see
photo above) joint continues to grow on me, can't
wait for the album! The Cool Calm Pete material
is very, very solid as well. Keep sending us the good
ish y'all!!! Also if anyone is going to the Mixshow
Power Summit this year, please hit me up if you know of
any solid flight deals :) IMPORTANT NEWS:

"What's goin on yall? Summer's winding down but it's
still been hot hot heat out this way. The collabo mix cd,
from myself & Menace, "Street Muzik 2", hosted by
Stat Quo & Angelous has been flooding the
streets quite nicely and picking up good reviews from
the press too. HOOD DJS! If any record labels are
looking to sign the next hit maker, you need to swing
thru Philly and check out Bliss of Fire. This kid
is one of the dopest in the city right now and very
diverse with the styles he can flip. If you want more
information or wanna do the smart thing and get at him,
let me know. He has 3 songs in my Top 5 right now, you
can check about for audio links. I was notified by
Social Philly Magazine that I have made their "40
Under 40" list, it's a list of the 40 most influential
people in the Philadelphia social scene that are under
40 years old. That's definitely a good look for ya boy!
Little Brother are about to kick off their tour,
you need to check them if they're coming to your area.
"The Minstrel Show" album drops next month, September
13th. That's all for this week, swing through my site
and message board, to see what else I've been cookin up.
