What's upper?  Ok I'm not gonna front, but over the weekend my fiance' & I went to go see 50 Cent in  "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'." If you're waitin' on me to diss this movie, I'm not. I actually enjoyed it & props to 50 & the director...

IMPORTANT TO ALL RAP ATTACK REPORTING DJ's & RECORD LABEL REPS: The last day to report your Top 30 chart for 2005 will be on Wednesday, December 14. We will start back up on Wednesday, January 11, 2006...

ATTENTION DJ's & RECORD LABEL REPS: I just got this in my email the other day. Gordon Curvey has been hosting Seattle's longest running video show with "Music Inner City." When his first showed aired back in the late 80's, our videos from Sir Mix-A-Lot were the very first videos he aired. Please read the following & if you can help by sending Gordon videos, etc., I'd really appreciate it. PLEASE READ:

Absolulte tragedy. Gordon Curvey suffered a house fire that destroyed everything. Old shows, awards, etc. I just got off the phone with him and let him know that I'm going to give him all my old promo video reels. If people can pull together any videos, equipment, etc., to help Gordon out I know he will greatly appreciate it. This is a very difficult time for him and he is looking for a helping hand. Regardless of any ill feelings people might have towards Gordon, he brings 15 years of Music Inner City to us on a weekly basis. Let's do what we can so that he can provide another 15 years.

In case you have not seen it, the email below is from Gordon regarding the fire as well as his contact info.

Hey everyone. Gordon Curvey here of Music Inner City in Seattle. Yesterday I had a house fire and everything I had was lost. I lost everything. Video equipment, everything. I have to start all over again or jump off a bridge and give up. But as Rev Jackson says I have to "Keep Hope Alive". Some of you do not like to me to well, but any support you can give me would be great. Chris Bennett the owner of KRIZ Radio and The Medium Newspaper bought me a new computer, new dvd player, microphone, mini-dv camera and Ulead Video Editing software for editing my show. Right now I do not have a place to set it up. I am currently at my mom's but I need to have my own place. Which hopefully I will have soon. To all my video reps, please send me all your current videos and any other past videos you can via dvd or mini dv or vhs. Please send them to my current address. I am going to tell the post office to hold my mail and I will go and pick it up everyday until I get a permenent residence. Please send my videos throught the mail instead of Fed Ex or UPS or DHL for now. I need to restock all the videos I can because I lost all my videos and interviews. Now I know how the Katrina and Rina victims feel to not have nothing. Again any support you can give me it will pick me up becuse I am pretty down right now. But with God's blessings I will make it though. Thanks.

Up Above Records was livin' large last week as they threw down wit a big album release party for artist Supernatural at the Key club. This pioneering battle emcee is about to release his new album "S.P.I.T." featuring Raekwon, B-Real, DJ Muggs & Chali 2NA (J5) & more. The event was a packed house with Up Above's own LMNO, The Visionaries & Supernatural performing some real hyped sets! Much love to Up Above's Doug Kato, Key Kool & Samantha Sayan for the hospitality...

I went to peep out my dawg, DJ Creativity in the play, "J.O.B. The Hip-Hopera (see photo above)." I wasn't sure what to expect but I did know that it's been selling out since it's premiere. This play "Hip-Hopera" is very entertaining & it can be compared to watching a New York Broadway musical but with a lot of Hip-Hop influences, Hip-Hop dancing & lots of comedy added to it. A must see if you're in the Los Angeles (Stella Adler Theatre-6773 Hollywood Blvd.) area till mid December 2005. The play runs on Thursday & Fridays at 8pm and at 3pm & 8pm on Saturday & Sundays. For more info call: (323) 960-4420 or log onto: www.sableandbatalion.com. Here's what the L.A. Times had to say about, "Hip-Hopera": "Revised from Sable and Batalion's 2002 fringe festival hit, the new, through-rapped edition jams, breaks and vogues the Book of Job into sly corporate commentary. The witty, raw-language scenario concerns Job Lowe, head of artists and repertoire at Los Angeles-based gangsta label Hoover Records. He advocates "this thing called conscious rappin' / That craft of rappin's back in fashion / And the words have so much passion." Like "hip" playing against "hop," gravel-voiced company head Jonathan Hoover (think Jehovah) and fey vice president of finance Louis Saphire (guess who) toss Job out of his job into mailroom despair. Unpredictable counterpoint comes from our hosts, MC Cain and MC Abel, aspiring rappers lost in the jingle jungle. Both parables, hilarious and chilling by turns, converge in a dualistic statement. Ideally contrasted, Sable and Batalion toss off all the characters, including each other's, with prodigious verve. Co-directors Stefan Novinski - presumably responsible for the richly surreal tone - and Hassan Christopher - credited with the hair-raising choreography and staging - spin breathtaking tech and a death-defying corps around them. Inside the neon-based letters that back Donna Marquet's striking metal set pieces, DJ Creativity heroically scratches out the invigorating, multireferential score (music by Sable, Batalion and Joe Barrucco). Steven Young's color-splashed lights and the by-committee sound are astounding, and Nikkema Taylor makes a fly R&B vocalist. The few blurred lyrics and confusing transitions pale beside such innovation. Approaching the arch ingenuity of "Play Without Words" and dark frivolity of "Echo's Hammer," not to mention Savion Glover and Russell Simmons, "J.O.B." is a watershed event. Don't diss it, don't miss it"...

I think my boy Bubba Sparxxx is about to repeat the success he had with "Ugly" with his brand new release "Ms. New Booty" (Purple Ribbon / Virgin). Featured on the track are the Ying Yang Twins & Mr ColliPark. It's got lots of HIT potential & I'm predicting this joint to be Bubba's BIG comeback!...

Ok I just got the long awaited Ice Cube vinyl in my mail! Big problem is that there's no label that lists the title tracks! Both sides are phat & I'm still a die hard Cube fan. Both Snoop Dogg & WC are featured & it is TIGHT! Peep it...

Busta Rhymes "Touch It" (AM / Interscope) is da ish. Produced by Swizz Beats, this is gonna be another huge record for Busta. Don't sleep on this...

If you are into Neo Soul than you've got to peep out the debut single from artist D'Nell "Lace" (BBE). I don't know much at all about this new artist but her music speaks for itself. She's got great vocals & musically, it's a nice laid back soulful beat that I think every true dj will groove their needles to...

Yay Area's B-Legit makin' a good buzz nationally with his latest single "Guess Who's Back?" featuring E-40 (SMC). His new single "Block 4 Life" is even hotter & about to drop in a couple weeks. Show our west coast O.G. lots of love with "Block 4 Life" coming soon...

The long awaited A-Alikes joints are finally bout to drop in a couple weeks on Nervous Records.  The A side features: "What's Your Politic?," produced by DR Period and the B side features, "They Wanna Murder Me," produced by Madsol. Their album "I Eat U Eat" drops next Spring...

Comin' outta Kentucky, get ready for artist Slaughterhouse with his debut 12", "Yaw Don't Know" b/w "That's Gonna Be A Problem" (Slaughterhouse Music). You heard about it first right here at the Rap Attack! Stay tuned...

Rap Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:

DJ Spider (www.TheBassMent.com): "Just wanted to let you know about this new project/ mixtape I've been working on. I'm going to Atlanta to do a release party for it.. We just put the website up for it and this press release. Check it out: http://www.heavyammunition.com/

Raw-B (KUSF-CA): "What up Peoples!? I recently started helping out these folks who've created a new way to listen to music. It's basically your personal jukebox that's connected to a network. Think Myspace meets Itunes...yet completely unique...if that makes sense. Although they're still in their infancy stages, Chuck D's Rap Station label and Duck Down Records have signed on to contribute content to the network. This is an EXCELLENT way for you and your label to spread your music free of charge and completely legal. One of the advantages of using this format is that you get detailed feedback from the listener i.e. what songs they like, how many times they listen, their location, and many more demographic data. Anyway...the best way to get a grasp about what I'm babbling about is to download the player and check it out for yourself. If you or your label is interested in submitting content to this exclusive network then feel free to hit me back. Thanks for your time. Here are the links:
To download the player and start listening to new tunes, you'll need to
register for the music service. Click this link:
http://www.tastyaudio.com/register/92ade93e1fb8
We look forward to your feedback as we roll out this new way to connect
with independent music. Your comments are extremely useful for us to
incorporate new ideas into future versions of the product"...

Edgie Kokoski (WUNH-NH): "Another week slips by as we hurtle towards the holidays. I’m already starting to feel that “pre-Christmas” shopping anxiety where it suddenly dawns on you that you have to find new and creative gift ideas for everyone you know that have to top what you did last year. It usually goes hand-in-hand with making the credit card bill look even more daunting than last year as well. So you know what that means: trap or die! (And what’s up with every rapper being a trapper these days? My Dad was a trapper years ago, but all he did was catch wild animals. How times have changed… Checked out “Saw II” this past weekend, and it was easily one of the better sequels I’ve seen in recent memory. If you like Necro’s music, “Faces of Death” films, and Donnie Wahlberg, this is the film for you. Hats off to Donnie for turning around a career that most people would have ended by slipping into a warm bath with their toaster… Not many new releases keeping me interested lately…where is all of the 4th quarter firepower? Is anybody besides 50 Cent putting out any new media? The new release selection is so slim that I actually listened to commercial radio the other day!"...
