What's upper? As a kid, I remembering buying &
listening to two of my favorite comedians with my
headphones on so my mom couldn't hear what I was
listening to & to avoid a serious spanking! They were,
Cheech & Chong & Richard Pryor. A couple
days ago, Richard Pryor passed away at age 65 of a heart
attack here in Los Angeles. For 19 years, Pryor suffered
from Multiple Sclerosis, a degenerative disease of the
nervous system that left the groundbreaking talent in a
wheelchair for the past several years. "He did not
suffer. He went quickly with a smile on his face," his
wife says. Thank you Richard Pryor for puttin' tons of
smiles & laughter on tons of peoples faces of all races.

Fat
Beats Records is also excited to announce their signing
of Ugly Duckling and Louis Logic to artist
deals. As two of the most unique artists in this world
we are proud to bring their music to the masses. Look
for Louis Logic’s long awaited follow up to 2003’s
critically acclaimed Sin-A-Matic and Ugly Duckling’s
newest offering Bang For The Buck Spring 2006 on Fat
Beats Records. A quote from Louis Logic:
“I’ve been looking for a good home where I could settle
down and partner with a label for a more professional
release experience. Fat Beats is the longest running
name in the indie rap business, so I’m proud to fly the
flag.” A quote from Young Einstein of Ugly
Duckling:
"We're very excited about signing with Fat Beats
Records. This is our first time signing with a label
with hip-hop credibility and we're certain that it will
take our career to a another level." Fat Beats Records
is also proud to announce the addition of Count Bass
D to its roster of signed artists. Count’s unique
musical approach to hip hop has received never failed to
draw massive critical acclaim, from his Sony/Hoppoh
debut “Pre-Life Crisis” in 1995 to his more recent
releases “Dwight Spitz” and “BegborrowSteel.” His
scene-stealing performance as producer and guest-MC on
MF Doom’s “Potholderz” in 2004 showed that
he can hang with the best, and his new album will
solidify Count Bass D’s status as one of hip-hop’s
finest producers on the mic. Look for his new album “Act
Your Waist Size” to drop in 2006. Check out Count Bass D

Grammy award winner “Ashanti”
(see photo above) is back in the studio making
beautiful music with Full Force who contributes
writing and production work to Ashanti’s brand new album
on The Inc./ Def Jam records entitled
“Collectables by Ashanti” which features hot new songs &
hot remixes. Besides Full Force, Some of the other guest
collabo’s on the album are with Paul Wall, Ja
Rule, Free, Method Man, Nas and
others. Needless to say - there was a sigh of relief
from friends and family of The Inc’s top dawgs Irv &
Chris Gotti as they both were recently acquitted in
a court of law of any criminal wrong doing. Irv Gotti is
the man responsible for discovering Ashanti and Ja Rule.
You can sample Ashanti/Full Force collabo at

click on to the jukebox song list and you’ll find it)
Tune in to the year 2006 more FULL FORCE surprises to

Rap
Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:
Chela
(WXDU-NC):
"I will be moving to NYC this March. I had always
planned to make this move and just recently decided that
2006 is the year. I have loved working here in NC for
the past three years. It's been a great environment to
get my business off the ground and I will always rep
this area, where I was born and grew up for most of my
life. There is a lot going on out here in the Hip Hop
scene; it has grown so much while I've been here and is
constantly expanding. At the same time I am really
looking forward to being based out of the city, where I
know I will be challenged, inspired, and closer to...
um, pretty much everything. My last radio show is on
January 23, and from then on I will remain on the
Rapattack Dj Panel as a Mixtape Reporter.
After almost 5 years in college radio, first at WOBC
in Ohio and then at WXDU in NC, I definitely
feel sad leaving college radio, but also feel the need
to take a break. In NYC I will focus on mixtapes, clubs,
and community organizing as I have here, as well as
Djing as needed for Immortal Technique. The
Justo's Mixtape Allstars show has been discontinued
on Music Choice (yes... it's true) but stay tuned
as we work on moving the show to another home. And there
you have it... now some of ya'll can stop harrassing me
if I don't tell you when I'm in town... lol... it's
March 1 homies!"
Nick
Huff
(KPFA
#2-CA): "A lot of you have been hitting me up for
exclusives from Rico Pabon RMX to "Jamrock,"
which is FIYA. Rico, some of yall might remember him
from his group Prophets Of Rage is currently in
the studio putting the finishing touches on his album
"Louder Than Fiction", which will hit stores in late
January. The album will feature guest appearances from
Dead Prez,
Zion
I, Kam,
Bamuthi and Crown City Rockers among
others.
If y'all need additional tracks, drops or interviews for
you shows or mixtapes hit us up. We also have exclusive
mp3's of Rico's RMXs for Diamonds F/ Kanye West and

Struggle", in stores 12/13"...
Edgie
Kokoski
(WUNH-NH):
"Argh…it’s officially winter…it’s cold out, there is
snow on the ground that won’t melt, scraping frost off
of my windshield is a daily routine, and you can’t find
a parking space at the mall or any restaurant within 50
yards of a store. It’s not enough to stop another
installment in my random thoughts of the week:
- Is
it just me, or does Reverend Run look a little
too much like a vampire on the cover of his new solo
album “Distortion”? And why are there like 4 songs (on a
10 cut album) that are 1:30 long? Talk about phoning it
in…
- As
I was Christmas shopping this past weekend, I drove past
a Pizza Hut. The familiar sign had been revamped to now
read “Pizza Hut: Italian Bistro”. I think that calling
Pizza Hut an Italian Bistro is a little much. Pizza Hut
is McDonald’s with a salad bar. Calling Pizza Hut an
Italian Bistro is like calling Miller Genuine Draft “The
Champagne of Beers”
-
Speaking of fast food, in Manchester, New Hampshire this
past week a Wendy’s employee was arrested for robbing
his own restaurant. What was the guy’s name? Ronald
McDonald. That’s no bullshit. Look it up online:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051128/ap_on_fe_st/fast_food_theft
- I
love it when some horse’s ass at my job sends me an
email that says “Bill Gates wants people to see
how fast an email can get around the world. If you
forward this to 10 people then Bill Gates will send you
a check for $24,000”. I love the fact that I work with
college educated people that think they are going to be
mailed $24,000 for forwarding an email message. These
are the same people who think that they are going to win
Publisher’s Clearing House, sing well on “American Idol”
and find true love on the internet. If you know a person
like this, do us a favor and have them spayed or
neutered as soon as possible. At least then we can
stop the
regeneration of ignorance"...
DJ
Raw-B (KUSF-SF): " Sup peoples! We had a packed house
this past Sunday at Beatsauce. Big thanks to Sonny D
(Capital Records) and Beni B (ABB Records)
for bringing Dilated Peoples through the show.
Rakka, Evidence, and Babu re-assured everyone that
they will stick to their guns and bring us the music
that has got them to where there at. The crew also
conceited that the Warriors will sweep the Lakers this
season (jk...but likely to happen). Be on the lookout
for their new album 20/20 which drops in January.
For more info go to

We
also had the Unified School District in the
building this past Sunday. The charasmatic trio of
Super Ugly, DJ Ecto One, and DJ Saurus have been
making noise with a 12" distributed by Fat Beats and a
brand new self-released EP called Take Warning.
Take a listen at
http://www.myspace.com/unifiedschooldistrict
...it'll be well worth your time.
Finally...props to Felonious for stopping by to
promote some shows and play a couple songs off their
latest 12". This super talented crew has been dazzling
crowds for a minute here in the Bay Area. They hit you
from all angels...Beatboxing, Live Instrumentation,
Theater and concious laden lyrics. The new 12" is a must
have. Get more info at

making some changes. I'm leaving WRED. I have some
excellent other opportunities including a radio venture
available through Yahoo and Itunes which
you'll hear more about later and some label work with
Asylum Records. We did some great things at WRED

#1 rated all demos in the market. However, it is time to
