Rap Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:

Kiz-One (KKFI-MO): "I’m going on tour with Big Daddy Kane from 21st of February to the 28th. I’ll be in Atlanta, New Orleans, Huston, and Austin supporting MC Reach. Reach won the Scion next up competition and he gets to open up for big daddy kane, and I’ll be spin’n for it So if you happen to be in the area hit a brother up so we can network. For more info you can hit up http://www.scion.com/livemetro You have to RSVP these events. If anybody can be so nice to maybe hook up some interviews while we are there please hit me up at KIZONE@gmail.com and get’er done"...

Damian Rodriguez (KGNU-CO): "Good Superbowl game til the 3rd quarter. I’m glad the game was a real element game, with rain to spice it up. Got some dope tracks this week, feelin the new j.dilla track.

Ghetto highlight of the week: Well, this one goes back to memorial day last year southbeach. I crept up behind someone & snapped the photo. Its self explanatory. Yes I really took the picture, if anyone wants the bigger version and all its nastieness, holla.

Moral: Your ghetto when u have no shame, nasty booty, fake louis vuitton and much much more"...

Kazzeo (KHDC-CA): "So the Superbowl is over & done with. I thought the game was really good. With all the rain and the turnovers, it was thoroughly entertaining. And then Prince came on at halftime and killed it. Say what you want, seeing him sing "Purple Rain" in the rain was amazing! If you've never seen him perform live, you're truly missing out. Congratulations to the Colts.

Between Nas' "Where Are They Now" tracks and VH1's "White Rapper Show", a lot of forgotten mc's are getting some shine again. I laughed my ass off seeing Bushwick Bill on the VH1 show. I wonder who would win in a fight between him and Beetlejuice.

Speaking of VH1, one of my favorite comedians has a show starting on there soon. Andrew "Dice" Clay will be doing some sort of reality show soon. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Now for a day, despite her being a few pounds too late, I am amped to see Mariah Carey in Playboy. Then I find out she's not even doing it correctly. Who the hell want's to see her in a bikini? Or should I say "who hasn't already seen it"? I mean all you have to do is watch her videos or look at her album covers for that. Show some skin or just go way.
I finally got around to seeing "The Pursuit Of Happiness". Man, talk about a depressing movie. Sure, it turns around in the last 10 minutes. But the rest of the movie is like one kick to the face after the other.
Finally, if you live in LA and see a Range Rover pulling up behind you, you better hope that Brandy isn't behind the wheel. I think she succeeding in her quest of "wanting to be down" since she's about to be "sitting up in her room" because when it comes to hitting the breaks, "almost doesn't count""...

Anilast aka Stuart de la Rosa (KSMT-CO): "Whats up fam. Just hitting you off with the update of the father daughter dance. Things went well untill I play blackeye peas, lets get retarded in here. One of the fathers came up to me and told me that this was not the streets of Detroit but the father daughter dance, he explained that Hip-Hop music was very offence and that I needed to turn it off and turn the volume down. I laughed and said out of 210 people you are the only one not dancing or having a good time, so shut up and go dance with your daughter. The rest of the night he sat in the corner starring at me, so the good dj I am I played outkast The way you move and another black eye peas yea mama. Other then one grumpy ass old man the dance went well. Enogh about that on to the charts. Hope everyone has a great rest of the week............D.I.T.C For Life"...

Edgie Kokoski (WUNH-NH): "Whoa…did everyone hear that 50 Cent/Cam’ron exchange from Angie Martinez’ radio show? Get ready for the G-Unit/Diplomats war…I give it another 3 days before the ultra-violent diss songs start popping up. I guess it begs an interesting question though: Is it better to be signed to a major and sell 300,000 records or be signed to an indy and sell 300,000 records? I guess if fame is your goal, 300K on a major is better. If you are after dollars and nothing else, 300K on an indy is the place to be. In these days of downloads, I think anybody is lucky to sell 300,000 period…

Most ridiculous Hip-Hop line of the week:

“After we hit the club, baby I'm gonna hit them draws/Yeah, I'm gonna break you off/And that’s all/Every freak should have a picture of my dick on they walls”  - Polow Da Don from Rich Boy’s smash hit “Throw Some D’s

I don’t think I even need to explain what makes this so ridiculous, but I do watch the video for this song and wonder if I could successfully land an airplane on Rich Boy’s forehead.

I finally took in an episode of “The White Rapper Show” this week.  In the episode, the contestants battled it out to see who could make a better club banger over a Just Blaze beat.  Although I found the sessions in Baseline with Just Blaze to be very interesting and informative, I couldn’t help but feel saddened by how the microcosm of this show really highlighted what is wrong with Hip-Hop.  One team of contestants wanted to make a song about smoking weed in the club (real original), but one cat on the team who was politically conscious refused to endorse the drug use in the record because of his work with youth.  After being mocked and badgered, he finally tried to flip something metaphoric and was met with disdain by his teammates.  Granted, the kid was a starry eyed backpacker, but I respected him trying to say something original and positive on his record.  I wish VH1 would make a game show where artists competed to see who is the best MC, and not the best rapper.  We’ve got too many rappers as it is"...

John "DJ DePen" McCarthy (WUSR-PA): "My name is Dj DePen, and I’m a DJ and the Urban Director at WUSR Scranton, the college radio station for the University of Scranton. I’ve had a passion for Underground Hip Hop for just under a decade. This is only my first year as the Urban Director, and I’m putting the “dire” back in the title because we are in dire need of more music. The station used spin monthly promo’s from any flavor of the month mainstream artist. I helped initiate a station-wide policy to eliminate a wide majority of top 40 mainstream artists. But since I dropped the guillotine on years of tracks, I’m in a need of music. Artists underground and independent that support a positive movement for Hip-Hop I want to play; I need to play. WUSR Scranton holds the main listening audience for the
Scranton area, and I would love nothing more but to give the airwaves to the new artists.
