KRS-ONE found dead in Atlanta apartment.
After
a long battle with depression, Randy Hubbard Parker,
son of Simone G. Parker was found dead in his

Simone G. Parker, wife of Rap legend KRS-One
cites "severe depression" as the motivating cause for
Randy's sudden death. He was 23. Randy Parker was born
at
Elmhurst
hospital on July 18th, 1983 in Queens New York. Randy, a
graphic designer and fashion entrepreneur, was seeking
employment in the

BUMSQUAD DJ'S PREPARE FOR 2ND ANNUAL BUM SQUAD DJ'S
FAMILY REUNION (JULY 26-28) IN LOS ANGELES:
As DJ collectives become an ever present force behind
establishing the careers of the hottest artists on the
charts, the Bum Squad DJ's plan to turn up the
volume on the summer music scene as they take over the
Los Angeles Marriott, July 26-28, for the 2nd Annual Bum
Squad DJ's Family Reunion. The DJ collective, founded 5
years ago, by Latin Prince (Universal Motown
Director of National Mixshow Promotions) will
convene for a weekend of fun to celebrate the hottest
new music, fashion, gadgets, gaming and technology the
entertainment industry has to offer.
The Bum Squad DJ's Annual Family Reunion was created as
an opportunity for the DJ's, tastemakers, artists and
corporate America to gather in an intimate atmosphere,
and share what each has to offer by showcasing new
music, products and creating new endeavors which develop
ground-breaking co-branding opportunities.
The First Annual Bum Squad DJ's Family Reunion played
host to over 200 of the worlds best DJ's who came
together to catch up on what's hot in music's
ever-growing backyard. Black Wall Street
recording artist, The Game made a special
surprise appearance to personally deliver his new single
to the DJ's while Interscope Records hosted a
mansion party which featured the newly signed Bone
Thugs & Harmony and Snoop Dogg as well as
introducing a fresh young Jibbs to the DJ's. The
DJ's were also treated to workshops on everything from
finance to how to operate the latest DJ technology in
the midst of all the fun.
This year, the invitation only event, promises to be
even bigger and better with Interscope Records hosting
an exclusive yacht party with surprise special
performances, a luxurious gifting suite featuring the
hottest new gear and gaming products, and a host of
other exciting events and previews. "The Bum Squad is
focused on expanding our brand and this year our
corporate participation shows that companies understand
the importance of the DJ in getting to the consumer
utilizing our resources in innovative ways. We have DJ's
with shoe deal's, head phones, turntable's all types of
exciting co-branding situations, so although we
specialize in breaking artists, we also help companies
take their message to the masses in style with our mass
audiences." explains Latin Prince. The Bum Squad DJ's
are made up of DJ's, as well as industry professionals
and artists including: DJ Skee, DJ Clark Kent,
DJ Eque, Paul Wall, Lupe Fiasco,
Trey Songz and
many more. For more info check out the complete roster

Ghetto Highlight Of the Week:
At a
grocery store & I see a 6yr old with something on his
arm. Nope, it wasn't a Transformers, Sponge
Bob tattoo, it was an actual tribal tattoo, like his
daddy had on who was with him. How young is too young
for real looking temp tatoos? I only say this now cuz
I'm finally a dad. It would be a lil different if they
were 16+.
Moral:
You're ghetto when you encourage (at 6yrs old!) your son
to look like a rockstar w/ tattoos that look real
instead of Sponge Bob tattoos"...
Edgie
Kokoski
(WUNH-NH):
"People's superstitions make me laugh. I just shook my
head this past week at all of the couples scrambling to
get married on 7-7-07 thinking that it would be good
luck for their marriage. I'll bet that 50% of the
couples married on
7-7-07
will get divorced, just like people who are married on
every other day of the year. If the 777 crowd really
wanted to enhance their luck, they should have signed
pre-nups.
I
didn't realize that the Major League Baseball
All-Star game had turned into the Oscars.
What's up with the "Entertainment Tonight" pre-game show
with red carpet interviews? If I wanted to watch
nauseating celebrity worship, I would turn on E!.
On top of that, I love all the players praising Barry
Bonds and saying how great he is. Talk about
circling the wagons. Bump that. The best way Barry could
earn respect now would be to hit #754 and retire. Or
wash down a bottle of aspirin with a bottle of whiskey.
Here’s an image of Barry’s 1987 Topps Rookie Card. Damn,
he’s hardly changed a bit!
I've
decided that the album is now a defunct form of music
marketing. I sat down and tried to think of how many
good albums came out in 2007 so far, and I couldn't even
think of five that were really solid stem to stern. In
this day of pre-albums, mixtapes, and prequels rocking
slimline cases, it's become impossible to discern the
"real" album from the glut of hype material. In fact, I
think that many artists are now using their "mixtape
albums" as "do-overs". If the material on them doesn't
cause a stir, it gives them an out to discount the
collection as a preview or warm up despite the fact that
the disc dons shrink wrap and bar code in the Best
Buy and FYE racks. Sadly, the "real" album
rarely measures up as it suffers from attrition as its
potential back bone is stripped away a track at a time
for these slipshod releases. I find myself spending a
decreasing amount of time in the record store and an
increasing amount of time on iTunes cherry
picking these releases. So as primitive as the jukebox
full of 45s may seem now, it may have been the best idea
all along"...
Nesto
(WODU-VA):
"Hot damnnnnnn.. It's blazing down here. We getting that
heat from the west coast now. Not a good mix with the
humidity.
Aight I just upgraded my cable to digital cable (I know,
I'm late as hell), and I'm geeked right now with VH1
Soul. If you catch it right you'll be treated to
videos from back in the day and whole shows of the same
artist. A couple of days ago it was Common for a
straight hour. Shit was dope watching all his old videos
and new ones. That's one artist that can really say he
stayed true to his craft and music. I'm definitely
feeling his new tracks too.
Oh yeah, some of them videos that come on VH1 Soul
should not be played though. They played one of the old
Guy videos and that shit had me rolling. Teddy
and the crew had on them small ass spandex biker shorts,
and at one point in the video they have on some damn
speedo/slangshot bathing suits.. HAHAHAHAHA.. what the
hell were they thinking. Keep it moving family and enjoy
the HEAT"...
