What's upper? By the time you read this I'll be somewhere hopefully not lost in Idaho!  SCION has flown both me & DJ Chill Will (WCBN-MI) to be a part of their "A River Rides Through It" promotions & meeting with some of their top execs. SCION continues to be a big part of the Hip-Hop lifestyle. While we are in Idaho, we will be peepin' out their new line of whips, their XB & XD rides, discussing how RAP ATTACK & our DJ's can be more involved with SCION events like we have been in the past with their "Mixtape DJ" & "Beat DJ/Producer" events. The highlight of this trip will be seeing two, 200 lb plus men river rafting on the Idaho river. Guess who the 2 fellas are? I gotta thank Ian & Dana for recognizing us for their events.

RICHMOND’S FIRST HIP HOP SUMMIT

Urban youth culture stands at a crossroads. Behind them lies the civil rights/ black power movement; to their sides the AIDS epidemic, globalization, Katrina, the War on Terror, the prison industrial complex and more; while in front of them looms a questionable future. What does that future hold? How will this generation manifest a brighter future? What role will Hip Hop play in developing a better world for all people?

In an effort to answer these questions, Richmond’s First Hip Hop Summit will convene at 1 o’clock; Sunday August 26th, 2007 @ Virginia Commonwealth University’s Student Commons (907 Floyd Ave, Richmond Virginia) in Richmond Salons III & IV. Veteran hip hop pioneers will feature on a panel to discuss the present state of hip hop and how the culture can be used as a tool for social change.

In recognition of the 2^nd year anniversary of the Hurricane Katrina the program will also feature a film screening of "Finding Common Ground in New Orleans" by independent filmmaker Walidah Imarisha.

Richmond’s First Hip Hop Summit is a part of Black Freedom Weekend, a series of events from August 23-26^th. Black Freedom Weekend also includes:

·          Black August Film Series: “Eyes on the Rainbow” & “500 Years Later” In Honor of Political Prisoners & Freedom Fighters @ 7pm at Elegba Folklore Society located at 1^st & Broad St. Richmond Virginia on Thursday August 23rd

Attention Martial Art Heads & Bruce Lee fans: Bruce Lee's classic 1973 film, "Enter the Dragon," will be remade by Warner Bros. The remake, to be titled "Awaken the Dragon," will be written and directed by Kurt Sutter, producer of "The Shield" TV series. It will be released by Warner Independent Pictures. Warner Bros. publicist Laura Kim said the movie will tell the story of an FBI agent who investigates a Shaolin monk and underground kung fu fight clubs. China's Shaolin Temple is renowned for its martial-arts tradition. Kim declined to reveal the casting choices, budget or shooting schedule. Lee played a Kung-Fu fighter who infiltrates an island occupied by a rogue martial arts artist in "Enter the Dragon." He died in 1973, at 32, from swelling of the brain.
