Rhode
Island
/ Massachusetts MC ANIME takes the Hip Hop world by
storm
In an
age of orange alerts, crumbling economic systems, and
marshal law under the guise of homeland security the
people are spoon fed entertainment deemed "safe" by
major corporations and the government. Citizens are
bombarded with biased media coverage of an unpopular war
by big business news stations posing as fair and
balanced, as well as mindless "reality" television which
is far more scripted than the primetime dramas they have
replaced. Indeed, we the people have become conditioned
to accept what is given to us. Everyone seems to be
aware of this, except the public.
Nowhere has this policy of "eat it until you like it"
become more evident than in todays music. What was once
the lone voice of the people has become nothing more
than hollow images of commercialism and violence. It is
now designed to take the peoples minds off of what is
really going on, and desensitize them to the real life
violence taking place all over the world everyday. What
was once our parents spirit of revolution has become a
symbol of exactly how corrupted and apathetic our
generation has become.
All is not lost however, since the late 1990's a
movement has been brewing. In basements and on street
corners the essence of freedom remains strong, ready to
bubble to the surface and give the people their voice
back. Among this guerrilla movement stands Anime. An
emcee as unpredictable and gritty as the animated films
that he draws his name from. Inspired by the pioneers of
the Hip-Hop culture as well as revolutionary artists
from all genres. He has spent over 10 years in the
underground perfecting his craft. This time spent paying
dues allowed Anime to develop a well balanced style that
is as full of classic hiphop braggadocio as it is full
of story telling and social commentary.
Possessing the swagger of an east coast b-boy; combined
with an aggressive delivery, and superior wordplay -
Anime stands out from the pack. Always pushing the
limits of what he is capable of as an emcee, and what
hiphop music is capable of being; Anime is set to strike
the industry with a laser guided dose of reality. All in
an effort to give a voice back to the people.

ILL
BILL – New Album The Hour of Reprisal Delayed Until
Early ‘08 - 39 City U.S. Tour with Twiztid Begins
September 25th
ILL BILL regretfully announces that his
forthcoming sophomore effort, The Hour of Reprisal,
has been pushed back until early 2008. The hour-long
album, which is to be accompanied by a full-length DVD
of ILL BILL live at the legendary (and tragically
shuttered) CBGB, features guest appearances by the likes
of Raekwon the Chef, B-Real, Immortal
Technique, Tech N9ne and Necro, as
well as members of the Bad Brains, Killswitch
Engage, La Coka Nostra, Jedi Mind Tricks,
HERO and Sepultura/Soulfly. Tracks for the
set were composed by Muggs, DJ Premier,
Lethal, Necro, T-Ray, Cynic, and
Sicknature, with a majority of the production coming
courtesy of ILL BILL himself. Bill offers “I am
extremely proud of this album…it is the most personal
music I’ve ever made.” He adds “this record is an
uncompromising snapshot of my entire life and the world
around me at this very moment.”
Originally scheduled for release on September 11th
via Bill’s own Uncle Howie Records in cooperation
with Perfect Game Recording Co./Warner Music Group,
The Hour of Reprisal did not hit the stores as
scheduled due to WMG’s decision to discontinue the
Perfect Game label. However, ILL BILL and former Perfect
Game general manager Howie Abrams have joined
forces to find an appropriate home for the album. They
are currently in discussions with a number of interested
parties and plan to announce a new release date within
the next few weeks.
In
the meantime, ILL BILL remains busy with a number of
exciting projects, not to mention his upcoming 39 city
tour supporting Twiztid. The trek begins in
Cleveland, Ohio on September 25th and comes
to an end on November 10th in Columbus, Ohio.
Bill is also putting the finishing touches on the debut
album by La Coka Nostra, the new group featuring all 3
original members of House of Pain, ILL BILL,
Boston’s Slaine and native New Yorker Big Left.
Additionally, Bill is working on collaborations with
the likes of Boot Camp Clik’s Sean Price, Jeru
the Damaja and west coast heavyweight Crooked I.
He has also contributed production work to the upcoming
Army of the Pharaohs and Special Teamz
albums.

RAP
VETERAN TOO SHORT AND THE UP ALL NITE CREW SETS UP NEW
ALBUM "SET UP SHOP" ON OCTOBER 16, 2007
"SET UP SHOP" WILL BE RELEASED AS A DIGITAL RELEASE
Veteran west coast rap superstar Too Short is set
to release his team The UP All Nite Crew's new
digital release Set Up Shop on October 16, 2007.
A follow up to 2006’s Gangsters & Strippers
compilation, Set Up Shop will introduce the world
to artists that $hort feels has what it takes to have
long careers of their own. The difference here is that
unlike its predecessor, Set Up Shop features
artists who are self-made, only needing the proper push
to get noticed. Being that Set Up
Shop was recorded in $hort’s second home, Atlanta,
it was only right that he showcased artists like Lil
Red and Young Bay who hail from the Southern
Rap capital. Lil Red, signed to Up All Nite through the
group Murda Mob is the lone female rapper on the
compilation, but her song “You Know What It Iz,” lets it
be know that she can hang with the fellas. 21-year old
Young Bay, formerly known as Baby D from $hort’s
Dangerous Crew days, comes in as a baby-faced
10-year veteran and it shows on his track, “Ride With Ya
Boy,”and midwest rappers Ice Mizzle and Lay It
Down
Hip-Hop has become the voice of youth in America and
the world, and Set Up Shop represents the musical
movement that influences the current crop of today's
hottest Hip-Hop chart toppers. Too Short hit the music
scene in the early 80's with his unique style of rap,
Too Short was instrumental in exposing the raw sounds of
West Coast rap with songs that set the standard for
Hip-Hop to the masses...

When asked about the motivation leading to the launch of

It definitely forced me to pay closer attention to the
world of Digital downloading. We plan to work hard to
stay extremely innovative with our releases."
With the help of partners Kirk Webber and
Michael Robinson, J.R. plans to do well in the
digital world with some exclusive releases from a host

truly be a reflection of the independent music movement.
"I am definitely excited about this new venture, digital

Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:
Will J (KSUB-Seattle): "Whats up
everybody? KSUB had some technical difficulties
this summer but we are back on the air...and just in
time for classes to start. I went through all the mail
from this summer and added most of it into either our
library or rotation and submitted some adds to CMJ
this week - so if you got records your pushin
now is the time to get us back on your mailing list!"...
Raw-B
(KUSF-SF): "Sup Folks! Big thanks goes out to the
Crown City Rockers for dropping by BeatSauce
this past Sunday. They were in studio promoting an
upcoming show here in S.F. They also talked about their
upcoming album and proceeded to rip our mics to shreds.

Kazzeo
(KHDC-CA):
"So last week I celebrated 14 years on the air at
KHDC. I want to thank Nutrageous & Cuban,
El Gant, and Azure for all calling in to
the show. Also, thanks to O.C. for the shout. Now
it's the countdown to number 15. Yeah baby.
I can't even begin to describe the fury I had this
weekend over the bullshit timeout call made by the
Bronco's against my Raiders. I hate Denver
with a passion. If I could have 5 minutes to take a bat
to Coach Shannahan's face I would.
Even with all the evidence, the audio tape specifically,
I predict OJ will get off once again. Our courts
and jury's are retarded & blind.
Okay so Kanye sold more than 50. Now what?
50 is not retiring. It was all a publicity stunt"...
EarthQuake
(Live365.com):
"What a crap sports weekend for the Huskies and
Seahawks. I went to the 11th annual
Gros and Gas-athon this past Friday and it was a lot of
fun and they raised a lot of money for local charities
that help out children. Well I put up my 160th
show this last Sunday. Can you believe I have done that
many shows?"...
Nesto
(WODU-VA):
"What's good wit ya people? Let me say that I agree with
Jessica from Spectre that Fall is one of
my favorite seasons. Don't get me wrong, I love the
summer and the heat, but there's something about Fall
that's AWESOME. The perfect weather, temperature wise,
and low humidity that usually comes with it.
Aight, I have a question for everyone. At what point in
your life did you decide that music was the thing for
you? Was there a day, a defining moment, a show, a
video, a movie, etc. What was the defining moment that
made you say you wanted to pursue a career in the
entertainment industry? I've been thinking about this
and it's been hard for me to pinpoint, but I would have
to say back in the early 80s was the time I decided that
I wanted to be part of this whole industry. Over the
years, what part I wanted to play has changed many
times, but one has stayed the same and that has been a
college DJ, but I will admit that sometimes it's hard to
keep the fire burning when things have changed so much
over the years.
Aight people keep the hits coming, holla back and send
all MP3s to
inthecrates@gmail.com...
D-Tragic
(805HipHop.com):
"It’s been a long week for me already! Man Anyone
hiring at any big labels? You know I put in work!
Thought Id throw that in at yalls!! LOL!!
I
just got back from New York and Had a great time out
there! Has a chance to checkout some dope Cyphers in
Brooklyn and Check out the Legendary Apollo Theater in
Harlem amongst the many things poppin! I gotta say that
the streets are hittin hard with that New Hell Rell CD
Coming up! Props to the street teams out there putting
in the work to break that record! Also the ongoing
battle vs 50 and Kanye is real big out
there right now. Im gonna just sleep on those since they
have already been out on the streets for a good 3 weeks
now…They’ll both sell big! There are a lot of cats out
there right now with DOPE music that will be
foreshadowed by the 50/Kanye stuff in the news, so I’m
gonna be sleepin on putting these in the charts! They
both got DOPE albums though!
I
heard of a artist by the name of Puff One or
something like that from Detroit. I didn’t get his info
but would like to find out more about him! If anyone
knows anything bout him holla @ Ya Boy!! I just picked
up some new heaters from Jessica over at
Spectre: G&D (Georgia Anne Muldrow and
Dudley Perkins) “TIME”! That is a super DOPE
record! All DJ’s are encouraged to add that to their
charts and get it out to everyone they know! Were
supporting that album 100 Percent! Big ups to our peeps
at Jaded for getting us that new Board Bangers
Cut “Cuz the Beats Hott” Were getting requests for that
one on our station, so be sure to spin that track like
its 1999! You definitely feel that one!
