CUNG LE BEATS FRANK
SHAMROCK!
(read the round by round updates below) |

[[ March 31, 2008 ]] |
|
What's
Upper? Last Thursday's season finale of MTV's "America's
Best Dance Crew" was off da hook as the Jabawackeez
WIN!
Speaking of WINNING, last Saturday night in San
Jose, my homie Cung Le defeated Frank Shamrock
(see photo above) and is the
NEW
StrikeForce Middleweight Champion. Here's a round
by round account of what went on in the ring by my
Sensei Morgan Carey:
Round
1
Le landed a kick to the body and shook off a takedown
attempt from Shamrock. Frank landed a kick to the
midsection that was answered by a left hand from Le.
Cung opened up with his hands and connected with a
right. Le kicked Shamrock in the face with his left foot
as Frank bent over. Shamrok kicked lightly at the inside
of Le's lead leg. Le went for a wild spinning back kick
to the head and slipped. Shamrock rushed in and landed a
knee that caused Le's lip to bleed. Shamrock finished
strong with a punching flurry as time expired.
Tony Loiseleur scored the round 10-9 Cung Le
TJ De Santis scored the round 10-9 Cung Le
Mike Fridley scored the round 10-9 Cung Le
Round 2
Le ejected Shamrock's mouthpiece was a grazing kick.
A lead left hand landed for Le, which was countered by a
kick to the body. Frank taunted Cung as bruising started
to show on the right side of his own face. The pace
slowed as both fighters exchanged a few low kicks. Le
pushed Shamrock backward with a kick to the body and a
right hook that blasted Frank. Le is keeping Shamrock at
bay with kicks to the midsection when he tries to get
within trading range.
Tony Loiseleur scored the round 10-9 Cung Le
TJ De Santis scored the round 10-9 Cung Le
Mike
Fridley
scored the round 10-9 Cung Le
Round 3
Stiff kick to the liver scored for Le early in the
third frame. A left straight, right hook combo found its
target from Cung Le. Body kick, left, right scored for
Cung. A hard kick to the body backed Shamrock up.
Spinning back fist cracked Frank. Shamrock falls after a
low kick. Le is dominating midway through the third.
Shamrock picked up the piece but Le's awareness and
footwork is keeping him out of harm's way. Shamrock
landed his best punch of the fight. Shamrock is rallying
with hard punches. Le is hurt with a right hand against
the fencing. Shamrock is teeing off now with well-timed
counter punches. An amazing round ends with Le peppering
Shamrock against the fencing with a body kick and hook
punches.
Tony Loiseleur scored the round 10-9 Cung Le
TJ De Santis scored the round 10-9 Cung Le
Mike
Fridley
scored the round 10-9 Cung Le
NO
Round 4
The fight is over. Shamrock is unable to continue due
to what is being called an arm injury. Cung Le is the
new Strikeforce middleweight champion! USH...

Remembering a Hip Hop Icon: Eazy-E
The Hip-Hop community has experienced many losses over
the years, loosing such icons of the culture as Tupac
Shakur (2Pac), Notorious BIG, Jam
Master Jay and a host of others.
The tragic loss of Eric ‘Eazy-E’ Wright,
before his time; is often over shadowed, possibly by the
passing of Tupac (2Pac), another well loved HipHop icon
from the west coast. It seems Eric does not get the full
credit and admiration he deserves nor is he remembered
for his accomplishments in the music and entertainment
fields.
From the streets of
Compton
to NWA to Ruthless Records,, Eric ‘Eazy–E’
Wright made his mark. And it is sad that he is not
remembered in the way that some other artist we have
lost are remembered.
Ruthless Records brought us many gangsta rap tracks.
Eazy paved the way for the gangsta rap movement. He had
Dr. Dre, he discovered and brought us the Bone
Thugs. He added so much to the ‘rap’ game with his
street savvy and business skillz.
March 26, 1995 at the aged of 31, Eric ‘Eazy-E’ Wright
passed from this world, , ten days after being admitted
into LA's Cedars-Sinai hospital on 24 February. He went
for a lung problem. When he was diagnosed as having
full-blown AIDS, Wright made no bones about it. He was
the first rapper ever to admit such status. Eric
‘Eazy-E’ Wright passed away of AIDS
Eric Lynn Wright (September 7, 1963–March 26, 1995),
better known by the stage name Eazy-E, was an American
Hip Hop Icon, a rapper, producer, and record executive
from Anoush Street in Compton.
He was a Kelly Park Compton Crip (although he was
connected to many other Crip gangs) from the early
teenage years, and until his death. He is widely
regarded as the founder of the gangsta rap sub-genre and
initially rose to fame as a member of the group N.W.A,
but later achieved critical and commercial success as a
solo artist. Eazy-E's vocal style was marked by his
youthful, high-pitched voice and his lyrics focusing on
the elements of urban street life such as guns, drugs,
relations between residents and the police, and deviant
sexual activity. He had also for some time hosted a
Hip-Hop radio show on Los Angeles-based radio station
KKBT.
Eric ‘Eazy-E’ Wright is buried at Rose Hills Memorial
Park in Whittier, California.
Just never forget; always remember and appreciate where
the roots of rap and Hip-Hop came from. Rest in Peace
– Eric ‘Eazy E’ Wright...
While

hometown of Seattle back on the Hip-Hop map, get ready

Universal" (Beacon Skillz) is an album not to be
slept on. Orbitron spits the real Hip-Hop flavor & sound

"What's good everyone? Keep the hits coming. My MP3
email is below. Big up to the homie Aaron Wade (WMSE-Milwaukee)
for keeping his show running over the years. I know
it wasn't an easy decision to hang up the headphones and
step away.
I know most fans of March Madness do not really
check for the ladies on the court, but I have to give it
up to the ladies for putting it down in the games. My
school did the damn thing last night defeating UVA
in OT at the
Ted
Center right here in Norfolk. I have to agree with
Double J that March is indeed one of the best times
of the year. On the mens sides I think UCLA is
looking strong, but this is the NCAA tournament
and upsets are always going to happen.

Edgie
Kokoski
(WUNH-NH):
"It's Opening Day for us Red Sox fans, but it
sure doesn't feel like baseball season as the calendar
still reads "March", the ground still supports piles of
snow, and the BoSox are in Japan. Their first
official game of the season aired today at 6am, so most
of us were sleeping or getting ready to go to work while
the Sox battled to a 10 inning victory. I'm thrilled
that the management for our team decided that it was
more important to give Japanese fans with their own
league a first look at the 2007 World Champs rather than
us loyal fans back at home. Then again, with the cost of
tickets at Fenway Park these days, a trip to Japan
probably would have been cheaper for me. The screwed up
thing is that the Sox have to come back to the U.S. and
play more exhibition games before they continue their
"regular" season.
Speaking of
Japan,
did anyone else cop the long awaited "Jay Love Japan"
from the late J. Dilla? What a great little EP.
Nice that there's some material left in the vaults,
although the tracks on the disc do sound like they were
dubbed off a cassette tape. Dilla always has that gritty
sound to his work though, so it's not really
objectionable. Points off though to all of the hip hop
outlets who are selling this 30 minute, 9 track album
for the price of a full LP. For $12.99 out of my
entertainment budget, I expect a full 15 tracks, or 80
minutes of Comcast "On Demand" adult cinema.
Anyone see the trailer for the new Suge Knight
reality show? Looks like Suge is at it again trying to
recruit new unknown rappers for an upstart label. I
imagine the contestants don't win the show by releasing
an album, but rather by making it the longest without
getting an ass-whupping from Suge & Co. Maybe the winner
gets Vanilla Ice's publishing?
The one TV show I can't figure out is this show on
Fox called "New Amsterdam". It's about this cop who
is 400 years old. He's able to defy death because he has
some curse where he can't age/die until he falls in
love. The odd thing is that he looks 30-something.
Shouldn't he be a toddler then? Not to mention, if you
knew you could stay youthful and in the prime of your
sex life for eternity, why would you want to fall in
love and age? I'll take the 400 years of playing the
field thank you very much. But I'm pretty sure you could
find someone to fall in love within in 400 years unless
you are a total failure. Like Suge Knight"...

(WKDU-PA):
"It's April. Time seems to be flying. After what seemed
like the longest week of the year I'm back at it.
Villanova is doing a great Rocky imitation in
the tournament. The Sixers beat the Celtics.
If you are old school like me and not a Sixers fan from
the Iverson era you know what the Sixers vs.
Celtics means. Not to diss A.I. but the its been a while
since both have been good at the same time. I'll have
alot to hopefully cheer for throughout the Spring. I
love KRS on the Fat Joe album. I still
think Rakim is the greatest of all time but KRS
is a percentage point behind if you know what I mean.
Out for now. Till next week"...
