NEVER
SO DEEP RECORDS
South
Carolina
April 11, 2008 -Independent Hip Hop companies have
survived predictions of their impending death more times
than any other force in popular music. With five albums
released in 2007 and two additional album releases in
the summer of 2008, Never So Deep Records continues to
defy this conjecture. On the schedule for summer 08' are
two eclectic albums "Dead Sea Scrolls"(release date
July1, 2008) by Rap veteran Insane Poetry and "The
Gospels Of Reverend Wallace"( release date TBA) by emcee
Jim Snooka (Both albums will be exclusively produced by
Multi Platinum producer DJ Bless). Lead off singles from
both of these albums have already hit the airways and
the worldwide net. Insane Poetry's "Ghetto Metal" debut
singles "There Will Be Blood" B/W "Jihad" and Jim
Snooka's "Hostel" are causing havoc on the underground
music scene. With these two summer releases, Never So
Deep Records continues to beat the odds. Keep your ears
to the streets! These albums are sure to be heat
seekers.
About Insane Poetry:
Before Gravediggaz, before Insane Clown Posse, their was
Insane Poetry. Though the underground got its first
taste of the blood-splattered lyrics of rapper Cyco and
his posse via their 1992 album Grim Reality and the lead
off single "How Ya Gonna Reason With A Psycho," Insane
Poetry actually hit wax the previous year on Rodney
O-Joe Cooley's single "Get Ready To Roll". In 1990, they
introduced themselves to the LA gangsta music scene with
an appearance at the legendary "Coolin In Compton
Festival" alongside N.W.A., Compton's Most Wanted, and
Big Daddy Kane. So Insane Poetry's street cred is rock
solid...yet this ain't no irrelevant, old school outfit
either. Like Kool G Rap and Kool Keith, Insane Poetry
has managed to stay one step ahead of the underground
rap scene and relevant as hell. Following up on the
success of the 2007 album, 'Fallen From Grace', Insane
Poetry is back with the "Ghetto Metal" production of DJ
Bless. Look for the album "Dead
Sea
Scrolls"
About Jim Snooka:
Jim Snooka was first introduced as a feature on the
highly acclaimed album "Darko Effect" (Boondocks
Saints-NSD-2005). Shortly after, he showcased his skills
on the DJ Bless production album "A Perfect Murder". The
single from that album "Blowin Up The Spot" caused an
instant buzz and was placed in rotation by numerous
commercial, college, satellite and internet radio
stations. "Blowin Up The Spot" was the top 5 added song
of the week and broke into the top ten single slot on
RapAttackLives.com (Issue# 277-April
30, 2007). Snooka's first video from that single moved
through the internet like an uncontrollable virus. Jim
Snooka showed he could be humorous and thought provoking
at the same time. The "Blowin Up The Spot" video became
an underground favorite. With the release of his new
single "Hostel" and upcoming debut album "The Gospels Of
Reverend Wallace" (NSD-08'), Jim Snooka will have an
opportunity to show his all-star status.
About DJ Bless:
DJ Bless secured his first Record label deal with MCA
/Universal in 2002 at the age of 18 years old. Since
entering the music industry, DJ Bless has showcased his
production skills with some of the music industries best
producers such as; Kanye West, Scott Storch, Sean Combs,
Swizz Beats, Sha Money, Rick Rubin, Havoc, R. Kelly and
many more. He has also produced songs on LiL Kim's Chart
busting Album Labella Mafia (Atlantic Records 2003). In
2004/2005 DJ Bless signature production was heard around
the world on several high profile remixes including,
Mystikal's "Pu**y Pop" (Jive Records), Dirt Bag
Featuring Fiend "I'll Leave You Dead" (Jive Records) and
releases from both Keith Murray and the Outlaws. In
2005/2006 DJ Bless produced and mixed several songs on a
Wendy Goldstein Project "That One Way" (Czarnok, Capital
Records) and also placed music on EA Sports Fight Night
2005. DJ Bless is presently working on several major
industry production projects including the musical score
for the docudrama "Hoop Realities" (Key Stone
Films/And1) a follow up to the award winning documentary
"Hoop Dreams". DJ Bless has also been commissioned to
direct and score his first full feature film ("Insane")
to be released in the winter of 2008/2009.

Island Def Jam Music Group
(IDJ) and Procter & Gamble’s
TAG
brand
announce the formation of a new Hip-Hop record label,
TAG
Records.
The new label will be led by Hip-Hop mogul Jermaine
Dupri, who will act as president of the New
York-based venture. As president, Dupri will set the
creative vision for the label and play an integral part
in identifying and developing its musical talent.
This
is a milestone for the music industry as TAG Record’s
artists will be supported with a multi-million dollar
marketing effort that is unprecedented for any new
artist, including television, print, radio, digital and
event marketing.
“Today, we make history in the music industry with TAG
Records,” said Jermaine Dupri, President of TAG
Records. “This label is going to provide new artists
with a chance of a lifetime. New artists will receive
ten times the typical marketing support – a first in the
industry. I’m hand selecting and molding these artists
to make history in Hip-Hop.”
The
launch of TAG Records is part of the TAG brand's
initiative to cultivate relationships with the urban
community through the development of programs that
provide opportunities for aspiring Hip-Hop talent.
“We’re very excited about our partnership with IDJ and
the broad platform it provides for creating artistic
opportunities within the urban community, said Alex
Keith, General Manager P&G Deodorants. “We’re
confident the partnership will make a positive impact
and bring opportunities to undiscovered urban creativity
and vision.”
“This
partnership marks an industry first. This is a
breakthrough model that will set the stage for
innovative collaborations at Island Def Jam Music
Group,” said Jeff Straughn, Vice President
of strategic marketing for Island Def Jam Music Group.
"This is a non-traditional approach that blends our most
valuable assets: the artist and their music, with the
power of brand marketing.”
TAG
Record’s first artist will be officially announced in
May. The artist will be given a unique opportunity to
merge their music with personal brand marketing.
In
addition to an album release, the TAG Brand will
showcase TAG Record’s artist and Jermaine Dupri across
various
TAG
brand advertising and marketing initiatives throughout
2008.
The
TAG and Island Def Jam Music Group partnership was
forged and managed by New York - based
ACME
Brand Content Company,
TAG’s branded entertainment agency of record.

After
serving eight months at the Rose M. Singer facility in
New York's Rikers Island, Foxy Brown will be
released from jail this Friday, April 18, according to
her manager Chaz Williams. She did every single
minute of her bid in jail, and she did it under the most
severe conditions," Williams tells
www.Billboard.com.
"They had her on continuous lockdown just because she is
a celebrity. They were trying to break her spirit."
Williams revealed that Brown, born Inga Marchand, is in
talks with a couple of television networks for a
potential documentary and reality show on her life.
Upon her release, Brown will also prep for the release
of her oft-delayed album, "Brooklyn's Don Diva," now due
May 13 via Black Rose Entertainment/Black Hand/Koch.
"She's going to get on top of her career again. She's
ready to hit the ground running and do anything she
needs to do to get her career back on point," says
Williams...

DJ
Savvy (KSJS-San Jose): Peepout DJ Savvy as
she makes her debut on a "Balls"

DJ
Sage (CFRO-Vancouver, BC): "It
is great to be back on Canada soil. San Fran was awesome
the weather was beautiful and I love the music scene
down there so many people doing it large. Big ups to the
SF fam: Kevvy Kev, The Friendly Traveller
and Richie Cunning. Look forward to going back
again real soon.
The vacation was great for recharging my batteries and I
was hungry to be back on 1s and 2s and interview the
homie DL Incognito who just dropped his fourth
album entitled "A Captured Moment In Time" on Urbnet
Records. Go peep the podcast
www.urpradio.podomatic.com...
Edgie
Kokoski (WUNH-NH): "Not
much to report this week as I'm running behind schedule
and am short on time. But let me just say this: If
you've got time in your day to go out and protest
against the Olympic torch, you should probably go to
your town dump, find a 1950's vintage refrigerator with
the door still attached, and climb on in"...
Nesto
(WODU-VA):
"What's good everyone? Ok, so college basketball is
officially over and
Kansas
is
the champ. I have to say
Memphis
let
that one go, maybe next year!
Ok the once off the wall headlines are now appearing to
become normal headlines. Just saw that another tough guy
beats a defenseless 3 year old to death with his Xbox
or Playstation controller. What a piece of
work this guy is. I say line that bastard up and let
people beat his ass with game controllers. This shit is
getting way to common place and it's sick to keep
hearing this shit taking place. Prison will take care of
that guy.
The weather is finally starting to make a turn for the
warmer weather, and I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully
I will be able to attend some shows in the DC area this
summer, and take in some Nationals baseball games"...
Kazzeo
(KHDC-CA):
"I saw a headline this past week that read "Countdown to
Foxy Brown's release". Can I please
request to meet all those who are "counting down" and
punch them in the face? Who are these people who have
nothing better to do than to wait for her to be free? I
don't understand how Foxy Brown gets sentenced to a year
in jail for hitting her neighbor in the face with a
Blackberry and then she is released 7 months later.
Keep her ass in solitary if you ask me. And how does she
get "punished" for her crimes? She gets a reality show
on VH-1. This country is overflowing with
retards!
Jay Z & Beyonce got married. And I should
give a shit because?
So 50 Cent was on Hot 97 and publicly said
that Young Buck was no longer a member of the
G Unit although he is still signed to the label as a
solo artist. 50 also said that Young Buck is just like
The Game. Game & 50 parted ways because Game
didn't want to be part of 50's beef's with other
artists. Wait, why am I wasting energy typing this shit?
Rest In Peace to Hip Hop B-Boy pioneer Frosty Freeze
of the Rock Steady Crew who passed away. Also
R.I.P. to Santa Cruz, CA emcee Aziz who lost his
life this past weekend.
Happy b-day Anoush!"...
