What's
Upper?
So
far no one's thrown any tomatoes at me since my network
TV debut last Thursday night on NBC's, "ER." If
you missed it, here's the link as yours truly appears 2
min & 27 seconds into the show:
http://www.hulu.com/watch/57706/er-the-family-man...
This
years NBA ALL STAR game was all that with the
WEST winning over the EAST: 146 to 119. Both Kobe
Bryant & Shaquille O'Neal are named "2009
NBA-All Star co-MVP's"...
The
backlash against singer Chris Brown has began to
snowball not even 24 hours after he released from an LA
County jail on charges of abusing his girlfriend
Rihanna. Wrigley's Doublemint chewing gum has
announced they're suspending its campaign featuring
Brown until his current legal situation is cleared up;
Brown was released on $50,000 bail after he was
officially charged with assault following a heated
argument & may be charged on attempted murder...
If
you’ve lived in LA for any length of time, you’ve bumped
him in your ride on a Friday night. He’s worked at your
favorite radio stations - Power 106 and 100.3
The Beat and any hot club from here to Japan.
They’ve called him the “Hardest Working DJ on the West
Coast,” but we just call him DJ Hideo. If you’re
on this site, then you’re wondering if the rumors are
true. Unfortunately, they are. DJ Hideo has cancer. We
are all in prayer for Hideo, his daughter Danny
and the entire Sugano family. Please log onto his
site for more info on how you can help Hideo:

Los
Angeles based rap trio J.J. Fad (see photo above)
has reunited to mark the 20th anniversary of their
platinum-selling debut album, "Supersonic The Album/"
The 1980s girl group has a new deal with Miami-based
Uncle Louie Management and will re-release their
platinum-selling album on Feb. 19 via the Uncle Louie
Music Group. The threesome, MC J.B.,
Baby-D and Sassy C are also planning a new
studio album and tour to take place this year...
GUARDIAN ANGELS CELEBRATES 30 YEARS by: DJ 3rd
Rail:
IT'S
BEEN 30 YEARS THAT CURTIS "ROCK" SLIWA (ANGEL
ONE), ARNALDO "13" SALINAS AND THE REST OF
THE MAGNIFICENT 13 SET OUT TO TAKE BACK THE #4 TRAIN AKA
THE MUGGERS EXPRESS IN THE BOROUGH OF THE BRONX. AS MANY
OF YOU KNOW THE EARLIER YEARS OF THE GROUP WERE THE
HARDEST.
WE HAVE TO TAKE OUR BERETS OFF TO THEM. PEOPLE LIKE "TUT"
"VALENTINE" "CAT" "RAMBO" "WING
CHUNG" "BRIGHT EYE" " UNIQUE" THE
FALLEN ANGELS AND THE LIST CAN GO ON FOR DAYS.
WHAT STARTED OUT AS A SMALL VOLUNTEER FORCE HAS STOOD
THE TEST OF TIME.
MANY OF YOU LIKE MYSELF KEEP THE TORCH LIT AND KEEP
PASSING IT ON. WHEN WE HAVE CHAPTERS IN OTHER PARTS OF
THE WORLD LIKE JAPAN (KEIJI "DUKE" ODA YOUR THE
MAN) (DIANNA THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO THE
GUARDIAN ANGELS). MEXICO (VAMPIRO IS HOLDING
IT DOWN HARDCORE) PERU (WHAT CAN I SAY? YOU GUYS
AND GIRLS ARE DOING A FANTASTIC JOB). EVERY OTHER
CHAPTER OUTSIDE OF THE U.S.A. "THANK YOU"
THOSE OF YOU INSIDE THE U.S.A. "THANKS FOR DOING WHAT
YOU DO"
BE PROUD TO KNOW ALL OF YOU ARE PART OF HISTORY. A
HISTORY UNLIKE ANY OTHER. NO OTHER GROUP HAS DONE OR CAN
DO WHAT THE GUARDIAN ANGELS HAVE AND STILL DO. IT IS
WITH YOUR HELP AND DEDICATION THAT WE HAVE SURVIVED 30
YEARS. YOU KEEP THE WHEELS MOVING AND I CAN SEE THAT
FROM THE PEOPLE I TALK TO. FROM THE VIDEOS I SEE FROM
AROUND THE WORLD. FROM MY TRIPS AROUND THE WORLD. FROM
THE EMAILS SOME OF YOU SEND. ALSO FROM TALKING TO CURTIS
(ANGEL ONE). FROM SPEAKING TO THE LEGEND "ARNALDO 13
SALINAS". ALL THESE THINGS MAKE ME FEEL PROUD TO BE A
GUARDIAN ANGEL. AN ANGEL THAT WAS RECRUITED BY CURTIS
"ROCK" SLIWA HIMSELF IN 1988 ON A SUBWAY IN CHICAGO. I
HAVE HAD A WONDERFUL 20 YEARS AS AN ANGEL AND COULDN'T
ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE.
SO AS WE DO IN CHICAGO EVERY FEB 13TH, WELL JUST ABOUT
EVERY NIGHT ALSO. WE ARE GONNA GO OUT AND PATROL. MAYBE
GO OVER THE HISTORY WITH SOME OF THE GUYS HERE. FIRST I
HAVE TO GO TO MILWAUKEE AND PATROL AND RECRUIT WITH
THEM. I WILL GO OVER THE HISTORY WITH THEM ALSO.
TO ALL MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS BE SAFE AND CONTINUE THE
TRADITION. FOR SOME OF YOU IT MIGHT BE TOUGH, BUT TRUST
ME I KNOW ABOUT TOUGH AND HARD TIMES.
I AM SENDING THE FAMOUS GUARDIAN ANGELS YOUTUBE
LINK:

TAKE CARE AND I HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE FOR THE 30TH
ANNIVERSARY CONFERENCE AND PUERTO RICAN DAY PARADE IN
NEW YORK CITY THE WEEKEND OF JUNE THE 11TH (THURSDAY)-
14 (SUNDAY NIGHT AFTER THE PARADE). WE WILL KEEP YOU
POSTED ON THE FINAL DETAILS. I WANT EVERY CHAPTER TO
MAKE AN HONEST EFFORT TO ATTEND. DON'T WAIT TILL THE END
OF MAY TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS. BRING DOWN PEOPLE WHO ARE
GONNA HELP YOUR CHAPTER. THIS IS NOT A VACATION. IF WE
WANT TO BE AROUND FOR ANOTHER 30 YEARS WE HAVE TO PLANT
FOUNDATIONS ALL OVER...

A
MESSAGE FROM DIDDY TO THE DJ
SEAN COMBS has blamed a current lack of
creativity in the global DJ scene for stifling Hip-Hop
music. The rap mogul is adamant that the genre is in the
midst of a "recession" because there are so few talented
beatmakers around to help create interesting tracks.
He tells MTV.com, "People have figured out the
formula when they make records for radio, and DJs ain't
DJs no more. DJs don't break records no more. DJs don't
play album cuts. DJs play what is going to move the
crowd. DJs, they don't expose you to the newness. That
was the DJs' thing. Hip-Hop is in a recession also."
But Combs is convinced that there is enough fresh, young
talent in the music industry at the moment to make sure
that rap artists will continue to sell records.
He adds, "(Hip-Hop) is not dead, it's definitely way
better than where it was at, as far as with 'Ye, T.I.
and with Jeezy. It's so much great stuff out
there, the responsibility has to come with the DJs"...
OBAMA
INSPIRED, FATBOYS REUNITE FOR CHANGE, AFTER 20 YEAR
HIATUS!!!
Pioneering Platinum Rap group, The Fat Boys have
joined together again, to launch a full-time comeback to
music, movies, and television. With the help of Philly
MC/Producer Elijah, The Fat Boys have recorded
their first track together in 20 years! The song,
“Unity”, is a remix of a song originally produced by
Elijah and whose main concept is about bringing all
different types of people together, to strive toward
positive goals and change.
The
surviving members of the Fat Boys launched
www.OriginalFatBoys.com
their first official homepage on November 5,
2008. The Original Fat Boys are both managed by Uncle
Louie Management and Uncle Louie Music Group,
Louis L. Gregory, where they are embarking
on a comeback album and tour. Amoung many other
ventures, the Fat Boys also have plans of doing a
reality TV show in search of a new member, along with a
daytime childrens cartoon.
With
a pivotal role in the early development of Hip-Hop, the
Fat Boys have a unique perspective on how far the genre
has come, how it has continued to influence the world,
and where it may be heading. The Fat Boys are currently
looking to do interviews and features, to tell about why
they decided to reunite after so long, what they are
currently working on, and what their future plans are.
With the world calling for change, the Fat Boys have
come back with the answer. UNITE! THE FAT BOYS ARE BACK,

Rap
Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:
Chill
Will
(WCBN-MI):
"It's DJ Chill Will of the University of
Michigan's WCBN 88.3 FM. Home of the longest
running college radio Hip Hop show in the Mid-West and
maybe the country. Be sure to tune into the show weekly
on 88.3 FM. In the Ann Arbor/Metro Detroit area. Or at
www.wcbn.org Saturday nights from 9 to 12 midnight est.
Hip Hop was in full effect this past weekend and it felt
like old times. Nas and Green Lantern rock
the stage with special guests Royce Da 5'9" and
Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, Black Milk,
Fat Killaz and D-12. One of the dopest
shows I've seen in a while and a standing room only
crowd. And down the street Little Brother did
there thing to a packed house. I wish we could go back
to that when Hip Hop shows was a weekly thing. For more
information about me DJ Chill Will go to
www.myspace.com/djchillwill734...
DJ
SAGE (CFRO-Vancouver): "Started our latest
show off with a double shot from an album, "The Spirit
of Apollo", crafted by two friends/talented DJs
Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon. Three weeks
ago, I had never heard of this project or these DJs, but
I was blown away by the track "The Mayor" featuring
Ghostface, Cool Kids & DJ AM on one
track. Then when I heard "N.A.S.A. Music" where they
thought you know what would be nice to put two original
stylistic spitters, E40 and Method Man
together, I knew that I had to cop this album. It is
unfortunate that a lot of people will likely never hear
about this ambitious project that has a wide gamut of
superstar artists on it such as Kanye West, Chuck D,
KRS-ONE, Tom Waits, Santogold, ODB, David Byrne (a
O-Dog favourite), and many more. Consider yourselves
lucky that the URP family has got your musical
backs:
www.myspace.com/nasa
We also celebrated some of that Canadian home grown
talent last night. We aired an interview I did with The
Dusty Foot Philosopher himself, K'Naan. We talked
about the importance of being honest as an artist.
K'Naan is no longer struggling and I know "Troubadour"
is going to blow up with guests such as Mos Def, Kirk
Hammont, Damian Marley, and of course Chubb Rock
on the smash single "ABCs" all helping spread the
good word:
www.knaanmusic.com
www.myspace.com/knaanmusic
We were also joined in the studio by Vancouver Hip-Hop
staple, Emotionz. We chopped it up about the
Vancity scene and the need to unite the divide that
exist, as well as Monday Night Live with upcoming big
events such as the $1000 Rent Money MC battle (Feb 16th)
and J-Live (Feb 23rd). Emotionz is also working on doing
it big musically too with his upcoming Summer album
"Kush" and you know we premiered an exclusive track "Now
or Never" last night.

It seems like, all of a sudden, the shithead meter is
off the charts. You have this talentless punk ass bitch
Chris Brown beating up his girlfriend Rhianna.
The more I read the details, the more disgusted I get.
What the fuck is this idiot thinking? I even heard that
Jay Z already has made a comment, through an
associate, that this dumbass Brown is a "deadman for
messing with the crew". Great another high level
industry beef. Usually I'd say that this sort of beef is
unnecessary. However, I find domestic violence to be the
most deplorable crime aside from child abuse and should
be dealt with in kind. In other words, I say give Jay Z
a pass and let him "handle" Chris Brown. Not only will
he be defending his artist Rhianna, but he'll also be
saving us from more crap music from a subpar artist.
Now another shitstain on America is this stupid bitch
who had the octuplets. Let's look at this idiots
history. Some years back she went through invetro and
had 6 children. 3 of those kids ended up with medical
issues including autism. Now she again goes through
invetro and gives birth to 8 more kids, bringing the
total up to 14 kids. The first 6 kids are cared for by
her parents. She has no job, she has no house, and she
provides for the kids through government assistance. In
other words she's on welfare which means the American
taxpayers are supporting these kids. We are in a
horrendus economic state and now we have to pay for this
boneheads mistakes? You gotta be shitting me. This idiot
wants the government and America to pay for these kids?
Well then we should go all the way and take all the kids
away from her and put her away in a mental asylum
because this bitch is crazy.
DMX must be the smartest guy ever. He's in prison
/ jail where any luxuries he may get are in the hands of
guards and he's threatening to kick thier ass. Boy this
guy is a genius. You deserve to wear a pink jailsuit
Mr. Simmons.
Who is this moron M.I.A. and why is she running
around the stage at the Grammy's on the night
she's expected to give birth? Are these people insane.
It's more important to be on stage at an awards show
that is hideously political rather than take every
precaution to assure the safety of you child. Stupid
stupid stupid.
And then there's A-Rod, or should say A-Roid?
What a total tool this guy is. Highst paid baseball and
he cheats his way to the top. I saw a newspaper headline
that summed it up perfectly. It was his picture with the
headline "A-HOLE"...
Nate
Abney
(WKDU-Philly): "Warm weather hits us in Philly.
People are catching the flu left and right. The
Eagles have to decide if they want Houshmanzadeh
or Boldin. The Phillies locked up
Ryan Howard. The Sixers lose Elton Brand.
I'm tired of meaningless beef. Who really cares that
Rick Ross and 50 Cent are beefing. I just
hope that 2009 is a better year music wise, because the
headline stories are not what I had in mind. Chris
Brown beating up Rihanna is just what the
youth of America need to see from one of their heroes.
Until my rebate check arrives I'm out"...
Jason-D
(RadioBoise.org):
"So last our very own Nasty Nes from
RapAttackLives.com takes over television
with an appearance on NBC's ER. This is big shit
and it's good to see the homie making moves like that.
He's not saying what his role is but from the picture we
can guess that he's a patient. Perhaps he brought his
unlicensed firearm into the VIP section of the club and
shot himself in the leg? Perhaps he was shot in a drive
by shooting during an escalating East Coast - West Coast
rap beef? Whatever the story line is, this is a big move
for him so congratulations! Nes, I got an extra $20 on
it if you say, "Whasssssupper?" to the Doctor"...
Edgie
Kokoski
(WUNH-NH):
1. I
never really wanted A-Rod on our team, but now I'm even
more glad that the Red Sox did not trade Manny Ramirez
for him in 2003.
2. How long will it take for A-Rod to admit that he has
been tagging 50 year old Madonna too?
3. Doesn't it seem like Madonna was hot one day and then
looked old and busted the next?
4. How glad is Michael Phelps about A-Rod's headlines?
5. Although I'm not excusing Michael Phelps' lack of
judgement, let's not forget that he's a 23 year old kid
whose spent the last 10 years of his life swimming 16
hours a day and he now has nothing to do and more money
than he can spend.
6. Fresh shots were fired this week in the 50 Cent /
Rick Ross beef and I'm still trying to find someone who
gives a $h!t.
7. Yes, I know that by mentioning the 50 Cent / Rick
Ross beef in consecutive weeks that it makes it look
like I give a $h!t. I can assure you that it is not the
case.
8. Speaking of $h!t, its what I'd like to beat out of
Chris Brown if those allegations are true about him and
Rihanna.
9. DMX even gets into trouble in prison. He is in
solitary now and receiving only bread and water. I think
that the Sheriff should give him Purina and water. Maybe
a bone too.
10. If you are standing next to me in the Greeting Card
store, please do not read the cards aloud. They are
retarded enough when I read them silently to myself.
11. Why does every greeting card play a song now? If I
wanted to hear overplayed pop trash, I'd spend $0.99 on
iTunes rather than buying it in a phone book sized $4.99
greeting card that takes five stamps to mail.
12. If you aren't ready for DTV yet, too friggin bad.
I'm sorry that Mabel still has the same rabbit ears that
she watched the Moon landing on, but its not like cable
TV is a new thing. I say pull the plug on analog. They
already did it to us vinyl heads.
13. Tune into www.wunh.org from 8PM-11PM EST Wednesday
2/11/09 as I transform my show "The Mothership
Connection" into "The Mothership Love Connection". It's
the dopest Valentine's Day hip hop show that you will
ever hear. You won't even need a DTV converter...
Nesto
(WODU-VA):
"Weather is supposed to stay cool for the next 6 weeks
right, but in Norfolk this weekend it was in the high
60's and felt good. I am looking forward to the warm
weather so I don't have to fork out all this damn money
for insane heating bills.. Think of that commercial
where the wallet just stays open and money flies out of
it.. that's how I feel right now with the damn heating
bill.. DAMN. Looks like the wonder boy Chris Brown
is about to go through the ringer on this one. Is he
going to be the current day Ike Turner??? Waiting
for all the facts to come out on this one. Tired of
hearing how he attacked Rhianna because she burnt
him with the herpes.. let's get the facts before full
judgement is passed. One guy I would have liked to meet
would be 64 years old, and that would be the late, great
Bob Marley. Dude was ahead of his time, and his
music is definitely timeless.
