probably the best season ever for "ABDC" & the ladies
kicked butt! Much props to Beat Freaks & Fly Khiks...

Arash's
debut album, "Transcripted Thoughts" independently
released through SoFull Entertainment, now has
two #1 singles that has charted: "Howudoin?" and "Rise."
The album is a cross of Marvin Gaye meets Mos
Def and is reminiscent of the sound of the Golden
Era of Hip-Hop. If you like quality music, then this
album is for you.
On that note, for a limited time, Arash is posting the
album on his dj website
http://www.shammydee.com for free download.
You need to register to become a member (if you haven't
already, only takes 2 minutes) and you'll find the

If
you’ve lived in LA for any length of time, you’ve bumped
him in your ride on a Friday night. He’s worked at your
favorite radio stations - Power 106 and 100.3
The Beat and any hot club from here to Japan.
They’ve called him the “Hardest Working DJ on the West
Coast,” but we just call him DJ Hideo (see photo
below). If you’re on this site, then you’re wondering if
the rumors are true. Unfortunately, they are. DJ Hideo
has cancer. We are all in prayer for Hideo, his daughter
Danny and the entire Sugano family. Please

Rap
Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:
Chill
Will
(WCBN-MI): "It's DJ Chill Will of the University
of Michigan's WCBN 88.3FM. Home of the longest
running college radio Hip Hop showin the Mid-West and
maybe the country. Be sure to tune into the show weekly
on 88.3FM. In the Ann Arbor/Metro Detroit area. Or at
www.wcbn.org Saturday nights from 9pm to
12 midnight est.
Another dope week in Hip Hop and a dope interview with
Perfekt & Chance. If you haven't checked them out
do so the music is dope. Shout to everyone I seen this
past weekend from back in the day at St. Andrews Hall.
When Hip Hop night was 900 strong every weekend, also
went diggin in the crates and found some classic ish.
For more information about me DJ Chill Will go to

DJ
Sage (CFRO-Vancouver): "We started the show
off with a double shot from K'Naan's new album,
“Troubador”. Fans of our show know that we have been
anticipating and riding hard for “Troubador” for a
minute now. I can honestly say after taking in this
album beginning to end, I love the diversity of sound
and flavour that K’Naan and guest such as Chubb Rock,
Mos Def, Damian Marley, Kirk Hammett
bring. Go cop the album and support some genuine
Hip-Hop!
www.myspace.com/knaanmusic
We also got into an interview with Chen Lo,
comin' outta BK. As his banging single states he is a
“Drifter” growing up all over the US. However, clearly
off the strength of his free downloadable mixtape, “The
Inkwell”, he is someone Hip-Hop fans need to follow no
matter where he roams. I personally love to hear dope
MCs who not only say something, but actually put their
words into practice. Chen Lo is a cut above in this
sense, spreading positive vibes through Hip-Hop with
his “Creative Liberation” education series and the label
“Liberation Music Group”. You want to know more check
out the podcast and “The Inkwell” mixtape.
www.chenlomusic.com
We were also joined by Hip-Hop legends, Naughty By
Nature. We talked about the legacy that they have
created musical (laid down a nice
little tribute set), being honoured by VH1,
reminisced with Treach over first meeting 2PAC,
and about a new album being mixed down right
now by Kay Gee in Jersey. It was definitely a
highlight interview for me, and I can’t wait to check
them out tonight. They are on tour right now, so you
should do the same when they hit your area.

In addition, tons of new musical treats from Cam'ron,
Big Pooh, Zion I, Chen Lo, Dr. Dre, K'Naan
and more! Hit up
www.UrbanRenewalProject.net for the
podcast!...

"I spent this past weekend celebrating my birthday
on tour. The homie San Jose Joe flew in to Boise. We
then did the road trip thing to hook up with
Kutmasta Kurt and Kool Keith in Seattle.
The following days we hit Portland and Bend, Oregon.
You can never be quite sure what to expect from a
Kool Keith show but over those few days I witnessed
him: 1) autographing porn magazines he brought to
the show with the disclaimer that they might be
sticky 2) passing out dozens of panties and bra's
that he bought at the dollar store 3) lecturing the
crowd to spend their money on porn instead of
strippers because strippers are just lying to you 4)
having a complete rant about how women text too much
then leading the crowd in a chant of "stop texting!
start sexing! 5) sharing his take on the two girls
one cup video, 6) offering to join two couples in a
fivesome with the disclaimer, "I get the two girls,
you guys can f%$k yourselves" 7) and many more
things not fit to print. All this on stage during
the show. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.
We also managed to hit up several of the
microbreweries in the Pacific Northwest. The biggest
highlight for me was being asked to do a DJ set on
my birthday for the sold out Portland show. It was
crazy fun"... |

As great as Milk & The Wrestler were, was there
any doubt that Slumdog Millionaire was gonna rule the
Academy Awards? That movie was a masterpiece. It left me
speechless after I saw it.
In the further exemplifying of how stupid people can be,
I now hear that some porn company is offoring the
Octomom a million bucks to do a porno. You gotta be
shitting me. I am so disgusted by that waste of flesh &
blood known as Octomom. I'd like to see her tased,
doused with acid, and dropped in the middle of the
Mojave Desert in the middle of August with an empty
water cantine and a tablespoon of salt in her mouth.
And what is the deal with N.O.R.E. going out of
control at a Fat Burger in Florida? Dude wigged out and
started yelling at people "Do You Know Who I Am". Not
for nothing but dude, get off your own dick. You're not
that large buddy"...
Nate
Abney
(WKDU-PA): "The weather is starting to break
hopefully. Spring is close. The new Wu record is
hot. It doesn't matter who the combination is just make
some good music. While the young bucks of the world may
say this is old school, i say the more the merrier.
Sixers and Flyers holding their ground for
now. Hoping Villanova can make me some money in
March Madness. Out"...
Edgie
Kokoski
(WUNH-NH): "My disgust for Hollywood continued
this week as I skipped the Oscars for the first
time in years. I've grown weary of the stuffy, patrician
films being nominated for everything. But Hollywood sure
would teach me a lesson about how much worse it could be
by broadcasting a commercial across my screen the next
day for "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li".
I guess they must have run out of comic book movies to
make. I think that what is awesome about "Street
Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li" is the timeliness. My
friends and I are still playing "Street Fighter II". It
hasn't left my Super Nintendo since 1993. They
definitely picked the best character to base the movie
on, too. It's a good thing that I have a dual disc
changer, so that way when "Street Fighter: The Legend of
Chun Li" comes out on DVD in two weeks after its
theatrical release, I won't have to eject my copy of "Max
Payne".
I need to find a new holy grail. If you are a vinyl
lover like me, you know the angst of searching for one
record and never being able to acquire it. My such
albatross was the 1998 single by forgotten duo
Nightbreed, which dropped on Fortress Records.
Produced by Charlemagne, it was the one 12"
single I could never swindle an extra copy of back in
the day. The sole copy that we received at my station
has silently mocked me for 10 years. I found it once on
eBay about two years ago and was outbid as the
record soared to an obscene $67.00. So you can imagine
how near I was to pooping my pants when I found a copy
on eBay this week at $0.99 with no bids. I set my alarm
for 2:25am last night so that I could wake up and watch
the auction tick down in an attempt to pounce on it. No
one was going to screw me out of Nightbreed this time!
Fate smiled down upon me. My winning bid? $0.99. And so
I sipped from the holy grail, giving me eternal vinyl
happiness. Now I'm taking suggestions on what record to
dream about at night"...
