Cypress Hill
is back in the studio wrapping up its first new album
since 2004, with hopes to release it in the fall on
Suburban Noize Records. "We're mixing right now,"
says B-Real, who just released his first solo
album, "Smoke N Mirrors.". He describes the group's new
music as "gritty. It's aggressive. It's like Hip-Hop
straight-up. We just felt like we needed to go back to
that raw, gritty Hip-Hop sound but try to find a way to
bridge it with what's going on now." B-Real says the
as-yet-untitled album will have input from pals
Everlast, Evidence and The Alchemist,
but he didn't anticipate many other guests. "We don't
really do a lot of collaborations in Cypress. We keep it
in house." The group members have been mostly working
on their own projects since 2004's "Til Death Do Us
Part" and a split with Columbia Records, their
longtime label home...
Congrats to this years' "Americas Best Dance Crew" on
MTV champs, "QUEST CREW!"...
Just
peeped out the dvd, "Hip-Hop Moguls - The Series" (MVD
Visuals). This documentary peeps out the rags to riches
stories of Hip-Hop moguls, Russell Simmons,
P.Diddy & Damon Dash (see photo above). These
three have put their stamp on Hip-Hop embracing both
music & fashion. This dvd follows each of their stories
on their path to becoming a success from their
beginnings. See rare footage as "Hip-Hop Moguls"
uncovers their secret truth on how they became a
"Hip-Hop Mogul!" For more info, holla at Clint Weiler

Arash's
debut album, "Transcripted Thoughts" independently
released through SoFull Entertainment, now has
two #1 singles that has charted: "Howudoin?" and "Rise."
The album is a cross of Marvin Gaye meets Mos
Def and is reminiscent of the sound of the Golden
Era of Hip-Hop. If you like quality music, then this
album is for you.
On that note, for a limited time, Arash is posting the
album on his dj website
http://www.shammydee.com for free download.
You need to register to become a member (if you haven't
already, only takes 2 minutes) and you'll find the
members link where you can download and enjoy the
album...
If
you’ve lived in LA for any length of time, you’ve bumped
him in your ride on a Friday night. He’s worked at your
favorite radio stations - Power 106 and 100.3
The Beat and any hot club from here to Japan.
They’ve called him the “Hardest Working DJ on the West
Coast,” but we just call him DJ Hideo (see photo
below). If you’re on this site, then you’re wondering if
the rumors are true. Unfortunately, they are. DJ Hideo
has cancer. We are all in prayer for Hideo, his daughter
Danny and the entire Sugano family. Please
log onto his site for more info on how you can help
Hideo:

Rap
Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:
Jason-D (RadioBoise.org): "We
blasted off a ton of new music this week. Many of these
are radio edits I made myself so dj's let me know if you
need something. I'm lovin that Raekwon "Wu Oh",
M.O.P. "Blow The Horns" and Focus "Homeage
To Premier". B-Real comes very correct on his new
cd "Smoke & Mirrors". We hit the joints with Buckshot
and Sick Jacken on the assist but there's
quite a few more I plan to spin. Finally, shouts to
Jessica @ Spectre for promoting the DJ
Premier produced Blaq Poet tracks. Street hop
at its finest. Peep my show at
www.djjasond.com/play20090304.m3u...
Philip Rei
"DJ Felipe" (WHUS-CT): "Hope everybody
enjoys the Spring Break season, I will be down in Miami,
home of the AFC East Champs, with one hand on a
Corona and the other in the sand. So I will not be able
to send out the charts as with the usual but they will
be back the weeak after. Peace out for a week yall"...
DJ
Sage (CFRO-Vancouver): "Sickness
is running through the URP crew; however, we
still brought that weekly dosage of Hip-Hop. Started
things off with a brand new radio show promo from the
homie, Rahsaan and it is fire. Definitely check
out A Fly Guy as he has a new single out now “Mr. A&R”,
which is
being pushed across the North America.

Interview wise we were joined live over the phone by T.
Dot MC, Cale Sampson, who just dropped his self
titled debut album. The track “’Til I Met You” is enjoy
heavy rotation on URP radio for Cale’s talent on the
rhymes and the crazy sample usage of Heart’s “Alone”.
Check for Cale Sampson’s expressively diverse themed
album on iTunes or wherever fine music is sold,
and hit him up online at

Edgie
Kokoski
(WUNH-NH):
"Being a perpetual crank, I seem to find things week in
and week out that really irritate the living hell out of
me. One thing that annoys me to no end is people who use
worn out lame pop culture jokes/phrases.
Here are some phrases that I have heard real people say
recently that made me want to punch them in mouth with a
roll of quarters:
"Houston, we have a problem."
"(He/She) got voted off the island.."
"You aren't on Facebook/Twitter?"
"Can you hear me now?" (when they are not on a
cell phone)
"Welcome to Hollywood"
These are the kind of people who need to be rounded up
immediately and sterilized. Once teir reproduction is
halterd, we can start the revolution where the
intelligent people fight back against the stupid mass
media brainwashed idiots that surround us. It's like the
plot for "Terminator: Salvation".
Here's another phrase I'm sick of hearing "(insert
song title) Remix featuring Lil Wayne". Does
this guy sleep? His salary must be structured like a
trash collector - he gets paid by the ton. And these
remixes are a ton of trash too.
At least we have positive Hip-Hop role models like the
men (ha ha) of "G's to Gents". This MTV
abortion features D-list celeb and Puff Daddy
butler Fonzworth Bentley brooding over ghetto
ruffians who are trying to clean up their images.
Fonzworth's (if that's his real name) efforts are nearly
futile as these brain donors have the in-fighting of a
1st grade class at recess and spend more time trying to
see who's the G with the bigger nuts than improving
their lives. When Fonzworth grills contestant "A-Felon"
on how many felonies he has to his credit, the
contestant replies "None, but I took that name because
people look at me and assume I'm a felon". Look? Or
assume it when you say, "Hi, my name is A-FELON". Texas
native and alien life form Riff-Raff is the crown jewel,
with rainbow braids and an even more colorful MTV logo
tattoo on his neck. Wonder why they picked him? When he
speaks, it sounds like a nursing home debate. Thanks MTV
for once again providing us with positive Hip-Hop role
models. Please bring back "Da Band". At least watching
elementary MCs Babs Bunny and Chopper
argue over whose rancid verse was the hottest was
slightly entertaining"...
Chill
Will
(WCBN-MI): "It's DJ Chill Will of the University
of Michigan's WCBN 88.3 FM. Home of the longest
running college radio Hip Hop show in the Mid-West and
maybe the country. Be sure to tune into the show weekly
on 88.3 FM. In the Ann Arbor/metro Detroit area. Or at
www.wcbn.org Saturday nights from 9pm to 12
midnight est.
Long
weekend of shows Friday and Saturday nights. Shout to
everyone I hadn't seen in a while and big up to
Paradime. Kid Rock's DJ who is nice on
the mic and killed his joint Walk. Which is one of my
favorite joints right now. Tune in for special guests
and dope interviews this week. For more information
about me DJ Chill Will go to
www.myspace.com/djchillwill734
Nate
Abney (WKDU-Philly): "Another
cold week in Philadelphia. A warm up towards the weekend
will make everyone sick as the weather is not sure what
it wants to do. The Eagles let Brian Dawkins
go and everyone is heated. The Sixers are
stinking it up and the Phillies are in spring
training. The Flyers have problems with their goalie as
usual and cats in Philly are still acting crazy though
it is cold"...
Nesto
(WODU-VA): "What's
up good people? So it appears that old man winter wasn't
done with his tricks just yet. I welcomed the snow we
just got, but then again I'm not living in the North
where they are sick of all the damn snow. It's going to
be about 15 degrees tonight, and come Friday it's
supposed to be in the high 60's. That's VA weather for
you"...
