The first music video from the new Blue Scholars' EP OOF! debuts on MTVU and MTVU.com
( http://www.mtvu.com/music/video-premiere/blue-scholars_hi-808/ )

The video, created for the track Hi-808, received the on air premier video for the day starting at 6AM and will run in heavy rotation throughout the day on MTVU's broadcast TV channel and will also be featured on the front page of MTVU.com
Blue Scholars partnered with painter, vinyl toy & skate deck artist,  Angry Woebots (www.armyofsnipers.com ) who crafted a painting to go along with the lsong “HI-808” which will be turned into a limited edition print and t-shirt. The painting was created at the influential Hawaii based surf & skate boutique brand IN4MATION (www.in4mants.com ). The cover for OOF! was designed by one of Hawaii's premier photographers and historian of all things dope, Aaron Yoshino (Honozooloo / 5 to Life - www.honozooloo.com) whose photos have documented Hawaii’s subculture for several years. The video for Hi-808 was handled by The Island's premiere video production crew, Kai Media, who shot in and around Oahu (edited by Zia Mohajerjasbi). All these groups have come together to create the OOF! project.

The song "HI-808" documents the differences between the Hawaii Blue Scholars MC Geologic grew up in and the one he would later return to,
laid over an 808-drum-dominated masterpiece from Blue Scholars DJ/ Producer Sabzi...

WHAT'S BLAZIN' WITH BLAZE WONG? by: BLAZE WONG:

Greetings all! Hope everyone had a great weekend and a good productive week coming! I am trying to avoid loosing my sanity right now as this week will be a very busy week with Rakim's event coming up this Thursday night in New York City. This will be a meet and greet and performance night at the Highline Ballroom! I anticipate total chaos but need to make sure all my DJs get in! Hit me if you are in town and want to check this out....

After that, I need to figure out what to pack  for my first trip to Japan ever! This is considered my vacation....I am rather excited since it is my first vacation in 8+ years! I will be visiting my relatives in Osaka for the first ever too! I am trying to scrap up enough loot right now to get myself a little flip cam so I can document this journey for you guys. I am going to also try to get a sneak of the nightlife there with some of my contacts in Osaka.

Well, let's serve it up for you guys, the "Triple Freshness" for this week! Be sure to check them out on our mp3 site 1200squad.com! Enjoy!

1. Pac Div "Mayor" (Universal Motown) - Be sure to look out for another cut called "Pac Div" on 1200squad.com soon!
2. Ester Dean "Drop It Low" (Interscope)
3. Rakim "Holy Are You" Ra Records / Tuscan Villa / SMC Records
You can find all of this on www.1200squad.com, thank you for all your support and feel free to reach! Have a great one and don't ever forget that "The DJ is the Cornerstone of Hip-Hop"®

WE'VE GOT SOME OF THE WORLD'S BEST DJ's! THE RAP ATTACK DJ'S! GET TO KNOW OUR DJ's BY LOGGING ONTO:

AND PEEP OUR UPDATED PHOTO PAGE...

Rap Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:

DJ Chill Will (WCBN-MI): "What's good people? Been on the normal grind and reppin to the fullest. Shout to all the people hit me up at the show. Can't say all the names cause I know I'll forget somebody. I don't know about you but I'm feeling Slaughterhouse. And Royce's join One is catchy and some fire. Hope the Wu thing gets deaded and they continue to rock stages together. Also looking forward to the new Rakim single about to drop soon and it should be ridiculous. Hearing a lot of good things about the album and it's been a long time coming. So for more information about me DJ Chill Will go to www.myspace.com/djchillwill734"...

DJ Sage (CFRO-Vancouver, BC): "Another short show this week, but there was no shortage of hot tracks and mixed with a little too much yappin' as was pointed out by one of our callers.

We were joined by Vancity's own Emotionz, who let us know what was good with this past weekend's Shambhala festival. We also got a look into the crystal ball regarding upcoming Monday Night Live shows that go on Monday Nights at The Modern in the Gastown section of downtown Vancouver. Check out Emotionz at www.MySpace.com/Emotionz for more information!

As always, dope music was on the menu! Tracks from Common, Rakim, Jeff Spec, Snoop Dogg, Mos Def & Slick Rick, Skyzoo and plenty more! Check out the podcast in a couple sleeps at: www.UrbanRenewalProject.net!"...

Kazzeo (KHDC-CA): "If you haven't already went to see G.I. Joe, then don't. It's a waste of time & money and you'll regret it.  I think it's pretty safe to say that flying over the Hudson River in NYC isn't exactly the best thing to do. 2 crashes in one year. Not good. Shout to Fashawn who called into the show last week. Look for his album in October. Hell yes!!!!!!!! Football is back and my Raiders take on the Cowgirls uh I mean Cowboys in pre-season action. Can't wait"...

Edgie Kokoski (WUNH-NH): "I don't know who invented Koala Bear Care Changing Tables, but that dude must be sitting on a fortune. I've never seen any other brand in a Men's room. Then again, I've never seen a man using one either. But it must be pretty sweet to be rich from inventing a slab of plastic that hinges to a wall. It beats the hell out of engineering an electric car.

I don't know what happened during Michael Jackson's autopsy, but I'm guess it was like playing a game of "Operation". You know, dissecting a white guy full of plastic parts.

You can't help but feel bad for Big Pun's widow Lisa Rios. She publicly complained this week that evil miser Fat Joe only gave her $256,000.00 in royalties from Pun's posthumous album "Endangered Species". How can a person live on such table scraps? I don't buy her sob story because after Pun's death, you know that they saved a ton of money on food at the Rios house.

Former "Da Band" songstress and P. Diddy stooge Sara Stokes was arrested for domestic violence after a brawl with her husband. At least her career won't suffer. Because her career was over when she walked to Brooklyn to get Diddy cheesecake. But jettisoned self respect aside, at least Sara can take comfort in the fact that she isn't Babs Bunny. Because that chick looked like an alien"...

Nate Abney (WKDU-Philly): "The summer is slowly starting to draw to a close. There are some back to school sales I'm seeing. The Phillies are trying to work out the kinks I guess and Donovan and the boys need to avoid injuries. A week of nice weather and hopefully more good music coming my way"...

DJ FUSION: "Just wanted to hit folks up to let you know that Sonny Bonoho's song is on the latest official mixtape folks around the way mixed & hosted by yours truly, DJ Fusion of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast and BlackRadioIsBack.com, called Coast 2 Coast DJs Present: Return of Real Black Radio, Hip-Hop & R&B Vol. 2.

This mixtape has totally clean/radio friendly songs (so folks can blast it at the 9 to 5, parental figure types, etc. due to the lack of blatant curses and whatnot) of mainstream & independent Hip-Hop & Soul Music.

PLEASE feel free to pass along this e-mail, share the download & streaming links on any social network that you belong to, make copies of the mixtape to distribute (the zip file has the hi-res cover art & mp3 tracks in there) - whatever is good!
Thanks as always for the support of folks over here and let folks know how you feel about the Coast 2 Coast DJs Present: Return of Real Black Radio, Hip-Hop & R&B Vol. 12 release - hope you enjoy it! Reach out at anytime! :)

SHOUT OUT TIZIME: Happy Birthday this week to Lisa "L.A." Nevins celebrating this Tuesday, August 18 and a Happy belated "Aug 2nd" B'day to Erika "PRINCESS" Walken (sorry I'm late)... (R.I.P.) to both Eunice Kennedy Shriver (sister of President John F. Kennedy and Sens. Robert F. Kennedy and Edward M. Kennedy), 88, a member of a political dynasty who devoted her life to improving the welfare of mentally disabled people and founded the Special Olympics to showcase their abilities and to Les Paul, the guitarist and inventor who changed the course of music with the electric guitar and multitrack recording and had a string of hits...
