DEATH ROW RECORDS CEO LARA LAVI WINS TEMPORARY
RESTRAINING ORDER AGAINST NEW SOLUTIONS FINANCIAL CORP
IN ORDER TO PROTECT COMPANY ASSET
Deathrow Records CEO, President Lara Lavi (see
photo above) has just been granted a temporary
restraining order against the Canadian financial group,
New Solutions Financial Corp and it's CEO Ron
Ovenden by the New York Supreme Court County of New
York. The court order will keep outside interests from
attempting to act on behalf of the iconic Hip-Hop label,
Deathrow Records and help keep the company on the
road to its continued success.
"I have been very consistent in my message - I am
determined to make Death Row about the artists, their
music and their fans while staying grounded to assure
the company's future. Thus, I am taking the necessary
legal steps to ensure this outcome," explains Lavi.
Founded in 1991 Deathrow housed some of the highest
profile hip-hop acts of the 90's including Tupac
Shakur, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. Deathrow was
purchased out of bankruptcy by Lavi in January 2009.
"E-1 signed its deal with Lara Lavi, the CEO,
President and managing member of Wideawake Death Row
Entertainment LLC on the strength of her vision,
business sense and goodwill in the entertainment
industry. I look forward to our continued working
relationship," said Rob Scarcello E-1 - SVP of
Sales and Marketing. E-I distributes all
Deathrow releases for North America..

Rap
Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:
Chill
Will
(WCBN-MI): "What's up People? Had a dope night of
Hip Hop with Brother Ali and Evidence in
town at the Blind Pig. They had the crowd rocking along
with Toki Wright and BK-One who also did
there thing. It's been feeling like the 90's all over
again with all the Hip Hop shows. The artists are
rocking venues were their up close and personal with the
audience. Packed to capacity and hot as hell
inside(LOL). Those were the days. I'm usually not a
winter person (living in Michigan go figure) but, we
have some dope shows coming up. Themselves, Eyedeas
and Abilities, Capone & Noreaga, Reakwon
the Chef. December's not gonna be half bad. For more
information about me DJ Chill Will go to
www.myspace.com/djchillwill734...
Nesto
(WODU-VA):
"What's up people? Is it me or is people getting more
and more effed up? Or could it be that the access to
mass media is so much easier now that we just happen to
come across more stories like this crazy lady that sells
her little angel for sex, and she ends up dead. This
type of stuff seems to be happening way too much these
days. I just can't see how a parent, and someone who is
not a parent, could do anything to hurt a child like
that. A child! There's a special place for those people.
On the musical tip, what are your thoughts on the Jay
Electronica track produced by Just Blaze? I'm
feeling it"...
Jason-D (RadioBoise.org):"My
young daughter's take "Hip Hop Dance" classes at the
local dance studio. It's like Missy Elliot video
type stuff and they really like it. My Mom was out
visiting this weekend and was trying to talk to the kids
about their activities. She asked them if they were
still doing that "Rap Dancing". I heard "Lap Dancing".
Let's just say it was awkward for a minute. In the you
probably never heard of this dude before category, peep
out the Daniel Joseph "Pretty/Ugly" cd on
iTunes. I saw the Bricks New Jersey representative
on a playlist for DJ Premier's show. I checked
out his cd and was pleasantly surprised. My favorite is
"Understand"...
DJ
Sage (CFRO-Vancouver, Canada): "We got back
into it by featuring (and yes, this was a surprise to
me), 50 Cent's "Before I Self Destruct" in our
Double Shot. The album actually has a full-circle feel
to it, despite the few obvious bubblegum tracks. It also
comes with a tribute DVD to Jam Master Jay, so
that's gotta be worth something.
A bunch of hot music was then spun, and we got into an
interview with Krondon and Phil Da Agony
from the West Coast supergroup, Strong Arm Steady.
Phil & Kron discussed the work that's gone into
their new albums, "Arms & Hammers" and "Stoney Jackson",
both due out on the legendary Stones Throw Records.
We also discussed Madlib, clothing deals and the
various ways that SAS are connected with the Vancouver
scene. Check out the SAS gang at
www.MySpace.com/TheGangSAS for all the
latest news on the West Coast trio.
We were joined by Craig Mac who is doing big
things for Hip-Hop in the Lower Mainland in terms of
organizing shows in Vancouver and Whistler, so hit up
www.Clubzone.com
as well as anywhere fine tickets are sold!
We also got into yet another installment of "Who Flipped
It Better?", or "Flip the Tune", or "Who Used a
Particular Sample for a Song better", whatever you want
to call it. Either way, the concept is simple. We get
into two tracks that both use the same sample. This
week, the contestants were DJ Quik - "Get At Me"
from Safe + Sound and Brand Nubian - "Brand
Nubian" from One For All. Who do you think killed the
track?
Wanna know who we picked as the winner? Check the
podcast! It will be available shortly on

Vernassa Feilds (Spyn Cycal): "Spyn Cycal
will be merging with an organization that I founded
called "A Penny For Your Thoughts: Military Mental
Health Initiative... Everything will remain the same
except the website.
Spyn Cycal Raydio will still be up, and play lists will
still be coming in, but this time the music will be for
a much greater purpose.
This is a project that I have been sitting on for about
4 years out of fear, but I finally got the courage to
follow through with it.
I am planing big things for the music as it pertains to
this project. Music has been my life since I was a
child, and now I have a chance to utilize my passion for
music in such a way as to provide our servicemen and
women with what they need to continue to serve this
country long after their military service is
completed...
