Isley,
the bass backbone of his sibling band The Isley
Brothers, died today in Chicago at age 56. The cause
of death has not yet been announced, though Isley
suffered from diabetes severe enough to have caused him
to leave the band in 1997. His condition led to the
eventual amputation of both legs. (R.I.P.)...
The
Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Philadelphia
Flyers 4-3 in overtime to win the Stanley Cup.

Here is an excellent article giving props to Ricky
Leigh. He is the man who started the DJ CONF CALLs &
gave Mixshow DJ's their recognition.Ricky passed his
legacy to me at
HITS
Magazine
back in 1997 so I could do the same with College Radio
DJ's.13 years later my RAP ATTACK DJ's
have kept that legacy alive. THANK YOU RICKY (R.I.P.):

Rap
Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:
Jason-D
(RadioBoise.Org): "I know many of you are disgusted and frustrated like me about the BP
oil spill. One thing I did not learn until today is
that this pipe leaking all the oil is only 20 inches in
diameter. That's like your toilet. With all the modern
miracles of science and technology, we can't cap a
toilet?!?! Damn"...
Chill
Will (WCBN-MI):
"What's up People? Gonna be a short, trying to make
it to a record release party during rush hour. Found a
couple good things on tv, or kind of. The NBA
Finals no brainer. And The VH1 Hip Hop honors
were they honored the south on this show. Brought back
memories but!!!! And yes I had a Miami Hurricane
jacket(favorite college team)back in the day. Why did
the 2 Live Crew rhyme over there vocals and why
the Yankees hat. Wasn't a good look but you gotta
respect them for the road they paved. And no one
mentioned Outkast, Goodie Mob, Geto Boys,
8Ball MJG, Uncle Al and Pastor Troy who were
early pioneers. But okay shout to DJ Savvv who's
in town. For more information about me DJ Chill Will go

Shareef
Abdullah
(WRFL-KY): "Peace fam...this week in the mix we
add new bangers by D-Sisive dropping his new
single "West Coast" (Remix) featuring Moka Only,
a breezy ode to the coast that is undeniably the toast.
Next up is the mighty return of the first lady of the
flipmode, Rah Digga. Her dope new single, "This
Ain't No Lil' Kid Rap" is definitley relevant to the
times. Verbal Kent comes up nicely with a Illmind
beat on the solid "Examples," Canadian emcee Arabesque
drops a remarkable soul sample on the impressive
"Understand," and rounding things off is L.A.J.
with his banging new single "The Drama Way." Thanks to
all who are providing the heat!! Peace and be safe"...
Nate
Abney
(WKDU-Philly): "Another week of championships and
such. My Flyers trying to hang on hopefully we
get Game 6. The NBA Finals will probably go 7
games.Bilal and Erykah Badu's show was
nice(thanks Jess), what a relief from the
everyday grind. Out for now speak to everyone next
week"..
DJ
Sage (CFRO-Vancouver,
BC): "Back again, brightening the airwaves like only we
can! We skipped the Double Shot this week and got right
into the music! We played tons of tunes from Jadakiss,
Frank 'N Dank, Statik Selektah, Royce Da 5'9, Big Boi
and plenty more...
We were then joined one half of the Michigan duo, Frank
'N Dank, Frank Nitt. If you're up on J. Dilla
(R.I.P.), you know all about what the boys are
about. Nitt's been making big moves, collaborating with
some legendary West Coast artists such as DJ Quik
and Kurupt, on his new EP, Jewels In My Backpack.
We discussed the vibe in California in comparison to
Detroit, break dancing in Hip-Hop, and of course, the
legendary J. Dilla. Make sure you check out the EP (in
stores now) and log on to
www.FrankNitt.com
and follow the man on twitter:
www.Twitter.com/@FrankNitt !
Live music-wise, there is plenty going on in and around
the Vancouver area, so check out the podcast to hear
where all the spots to be are at! We brought the heat,
so don't sleep on this week's edition of the Urban
Renewal Project! Look for the podcast on
www.UrbanRenewalProject.net very
shortly!
Kazzeo
(KHDC-CA):
"VH1 Hip Honors sucked ass! I'm officially
done checking for that show.
I don't know about you but to me, an out of control
court rebelling alcoholism denying ankle bracelet
wearing scantily dressing Lindsay Lohan is wifey
material to me. New season of True Blood starts last
Sunday. Hell yeah!"...
Stuart
De La Rosa
(KSMT-CO): "Just dropping by with this weeks
charts. Big up to my main man Papa D for hooking
up the Rah Digga interview,
defiantly feeling it and can't wait to speak to this
legendary female MC. I am getting my interview game back
up so if there is anyone of your artist that are willing
to bang out a little conversation with this Coloradan
boy, I am down"...
Jeffrey
Oakes
(WMHB-ME): "What's up? Good news! I will be
maintaining the charts for WMHB for the rest of
the summer as Malcolm will be doing a lot of
traveling and will not always be in contact. But please
work on building a relationship with him as the summer
goes on, he will have full access to the Hip-Hop email
account for WMHB"...
Kevin
Sakoda
