Welcome
to RAP ATTACK our new Mixtape Reporter,
Michael "DJ Emmo" Ogunmoyin (see photo
above) a man of many trades and knows exactly what it
means to be a jack of all trades and a master of none.
He tells people he's a "professional scatter-brain" from
doing so many things at one time and how hard it is to
focus on just one.
Emmo's
mother is from
Dominica
(Virgin Islands/Carribean) & his father is from
Nigeria
(West Africa) so they settled in Brooklyn raising 6 kids
all born and raised in
Kings County's
Flatbush section.
DJ Emmo
is the founder and creative force behind brands such as
CajoCommunications.com, ThundaGround and
most recently ALLisONE, a gift & convenience shop
in Passaic, NJ (20 mins. from Time Square/42nd St),
serving as a new home to independent entrepreneurs with
a site launching on Sept. 11th, 2010. Emmo is a firm
believer of action speaking louder than words and he
showcases his actions on a monthly basis delivering
conceptual street mixtapes on and offline. He has
released & executive produced some talented underground
Hip-Hop albums/artists, most recently the digital
full-length album by Spier1200 & Oktober called
"Pirate Radio" (visit the cajo website for catalog
2002-present). DJ Emmo is also known for showcasing
legendary events and conducting interviews for TGTV
(ThundaGroundTV) featuring some of the icons
of music culture including The GodFathers of HipHop
Music & Culture, DJ Kool Herc, DJ Afrika
Bambaataa, KRS One and many more. Emmo feels
if he delivers quality over quantity things will remain
positive, which is balance, especially with so many
negative forces around us. Be on the lookout for new
releases, gifted artists, special events & projects
coming soon. DJ Emmo's mission is to help others
(especially the kids) by spreading knowledge, peace and
love through positive creative energy & expression. Read

A MESSAGE FROM DJ AARON
WADE (djaaronwade@yahoo.com):
"Been a while since you've heard from me (for a lot of
you). Since I retired my FM radio show in
Milwaukee,
I've been career and family focused.
BUT... i just can't stay away! I've been given this cool
opportunity, and I jumped on it. I'm now the Program
Director for "Underground Hip Hop" on
www.slacker.com.
Hopefully you all know what slacker is... if you don't,
in short, it's internet radio (like pandora or aol) and
it has a sweet mobile app available for all smartphones.
I recently linked up w/ the head folks in San Diego,
explained my ideas on the station, and BAM! I'm
programming this stellar station!
Please go to www.slacker.com and look under "hip hop" to
find the station. It just went live tonight. PLEASE
PLEASE send me all your new singles for consideration,
as I can add songs and change the rotation on the
station at ANY TIME on my own time and 100% at my own
discretion.
YOU KNOW HOW I DO - nothing but HEAT! I built the
station on the foundation of that classic boom-bap rap
sound... that's what it's all about.
So please make sure you send me the hot mp3's. This is
worldwide, and I spent hours and hours and hours
preparing it for the debut. The station is comprised of
the best 450 songs (not mainstream) that i could come up
with... 80's, 90's, 99-09, and current.
Thank you in advance for working with me and checking
out this dope ass new station!"...

Rap
Attack takes a "WHAT'S UPPER" look this week with:
Jason-D
(RadioBoise.org): "Shouts to Nasty Nes &
Tim @ Def Jam for sending over the new
Roots & Big Boi CD's. It's July and that's the first
cd's I've received this year. Talk about how the
industry has changed. I remember getting like 15-20
packages a week. Now it's all mp3s. I got them just
before the show but we featured new music from The Roots
on the show last night.
Shouts
also to Jess @ Co-Sign for that new Rakaa
"Crown Of Thorns" album. I liked that one so much we hit
the people off with 3 joints last night. Definitely grab
that one. Hip-Hop like it should be. Probably in my top
5 for albums this year.
Finally
shouts to Double J and Lee @ Foundation Media
for "The Stupendous Adventures Of Marco Polo"...
tons of boom bap heat on there too. We featured tracks
from Skyzoo and Grand Daddy I.U. (hell
yeah!) off that album as well. Don't sleep on that
Eternia and Moss "At Last" cd too. Eternia
can rap her ass off"...
DJ
SAGE (CFRO-Vancouver,
BC): "We are broadcasting LIVE from a sweatbox studio on
another Tuesday night! We dove right into a double shot
from Rakaa's new album, Crown Of Thorns,
available today! We had the Dilated Peoples MC on
the show a couple weeks back, and he promised a heater
of an album and did not disappoint! We've been spinning
some cuts from the album in the past month or so and the
project is solid! Definitely check this one out ASAP.
Following a short mix, we were joined by a friend of the
show, the outspoken Toronto MC by the name of D-Sisive.
D has been making some big moves in the past few years,
including collaborations with Saukrates and
releasing albums at a fast pace. We discussed his new
disc, Vaudeville, his liasons with West coast artists
such as Moka Only and The Sweatshop Union,
his unique and artistic approach to Hip-Hop and the
renewed appreciation he has received since making his
return to music. Definitely check out D-Sisive at
www.MySpace.com/DSisive and
www.Urbnet.com/artist-dsisive.asp
We were working with an abbreviated crew tonight, with
only DJ Sage and Big M in the spot. We held it
down though, and got into plenty of great tracks, no
lie. Curren$y, D-Sisive, Rick Ross, Stat Quo,
Pigeon Hole, Crooked I, Buckshot, J. Cole and plenty
more! Download the podcast real soon at
www.URPRadio.Podomatic.com and
www.URPRadio.Blogspot.com...
DJ
CHILL WILL (WCBN-MI): "What's up
people? Been a very hectic week but good. Real good in
fact and I'm gonna keep it short. But the New Big Boi
and Roots albums are dope so if you haven't
picked them up do so. And I'm feeling the DJ Jazzy
Jeff, Mick Boogie cd. Been a long time since I've
been able to listen to a whole cd. Thank you it's much
appreciated. I'm out!!!!For more information about me DJ
Chill Will go to

www.twitter.com/chillwill734 "...
Shareef
Abdullah
(WRFL-KY): "Respect due...back in full gear mode
after a few days in the unbearable Florida sun. First of
all shoutout to CT emcee Blacastan for being on
the show two weeks ago, this guy represents everything I
miss about hip hop these days. His album, "Blac Sabbath"
is easily one of my fave's of the year, so don't sleep
and go cop that! This week we got some more heat from
the Canadian outfit Sweatshop Union, in the form
of a the duo The Trillionaire$. Their new single,
"By Hook or By Crook" is vintage b-boy flava featuring
some nice contributions from fellow northerners Mos
Eisely & Josh Martinez. Fel Sweetenberg
continues his brutal onslaught on eardrums with his new
blazing single, "Code of Silence" featuring some insane
kuts by DJ Jay-Ski!!! Next up we have the head
banging single from the likely duo of DJ Muggs & Ill
Bill. Their debut single, "Cult Assassin" is what
you expect from these two heavyweights! Coming in next
we have some soul supreme Hip-Hop from Mazzi &
S.O.U.L. Purpose as they breakdown the power of LOVE
on the nice "Love Iz Love." The dope femcee Likwuid,
score major points on her 2 Hungry Bros assisted
single, "Go L." She is definitely a fresh breath air
from the plastic model of the current crop of mainstream
female artists...go ahead my sista...be safe y'all"...
Kazzeo
(KHDC-CA):
"I know I've been quiet for a couple weeks. Just been
enjoying solitude. Anyway looking forward to returning
to NYC in October for the CMJ. At least
that's the excuse I use. You all know it's just an
excuse to go on a strip club tour and sight seeing. LMAO.
Here's a recap of the last 3 weeks. Mel Gibson
went mental. Lindsay Lohan went to jail.
Lawrence Taylor plead innocent to rape. Paris
Hilton got busted for weed twice. Smallville returns
for its 10th & final season on September 24. And my
upper torso is sunburned. Isn't life great? Lucky for me
I'm still taller than Kevin Sakoda. LMAO"...
Savvy
(KDON-CA):
"Peace everyone, hope you are all enjoying the summer
sun. I know all my folks out in NYC have been dealing
with some real heat waves, was crazy to see they have
opened up 'cooling centers' out there! Whoa. This past
week was a very emotional for many residents of the
Bay Area as we watched the verdict for the Oscar
Grant trial come down. Johannes Mehserle was
found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, a verdict that
many people do not feel was just. Later, more details
emerged as we learned about the jury, it did not include
ANY African Americans. Needless to say, this was very
tough to witness because of all the aftermath too.
Although rioting was expected, come to find out - many
of the rioters were not even residents of Oakland. It's
times like this where we can use the power of music to
communicate important messages to our communities and
fans: violence is not a solution.
I had
the great opportunity to catch up with The Jacka
on the evening of the verdict, as he shared his thoughts
on the trial. In addition, we also got to touch on some
of the upcoming projects he has coming out with Andre
Nikatina, Freeway, and Paul Wall. One
of the things I admire the most about Jacka is his
humility, and great sense of humbleness. You can peep
the interview in the second hour of hour show below. And
also don't forget to come out and support if you are in
the Central Coast on Sunday July 18th, The Mobb
Figgaz and Strong Arm Steady will be
performing at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz"...
Kevin
Sakoda
