What's upper & HAPPY FATHERS DAY!... Dayum,
another major label bites the dust this week. MCA
Records are closing their doors. A lot of good
people will be losing their jobs & some of the MCA
employees will be merging with Geffen &
Interscope Records. What's up with Interscope? Lots
of rumors flying around about more shake ups about to
happen. MCA is one label that's been close to my heart
for many years. After Nastymix Records closed
their doors back in 1992, I decided to stay in the game
by opening up Crazy Pinoy Promotions which
enabled me to promote hip-hop music to radio & be able
to promote material that wasn't on Nastymix. MCA was one
of my very first radio accounts as an indy promoter & a
label that believed in me. I'll never forget workin' the
Crooklyn Dodgers "Crooklyn" joint from the motion
picture & it was also my first non-Nastymix record that
I worked that went NUMBER ONE on the Gavin
Rap chart! I worked under the guidance of
Brute Bailey who was a very intimidating type of
person but this guy got the job done & put MCA on the
hip-hop map back in the days! I wish my peeps over at
MCA the very best including a couple of close homies of
mine, Latin Prince & Ty Campbell...

Yo,
Chill Will outta WCBN in Ann Arbor, MI is
screamin' about the new KRS-One b-side joint, "Ya
Feel Dat" (Koch). "This sh#t is on fire," says Chill
Will! After one peep you'll know what I'm talkin' about
& Nelly's gonna start sweatin' once again as the
legendary KRS-One breaks it down just like he did back
in the mid 80's... Fans of Roscoe should peep
their mail this week for his three song dj sampler
"Young Roscoe Philaphornia" (Priority/Capitol). With the
success of Chingy, I feel strong that Roscoe will
keep business booming over at Capitol Records
with the release of his new album. It is HOT! The three
song vinyl sampler features three joints "Smooth Sailin',"
"Trouble" & "Get Flipped." Show some love & peep it...
Landspeed has got more fiya for your turntables.
Lookout for the new Black Moon "Rush" (produced
by Da Beatminerz), 1st Infantry (Alchemist,
Mobb Deep, Twin & Evidence) "The
Midnight Creep" featuring Havoc & Twin (already
gettin' out the box support from Austin' DJ Nick Nack!!!)
and Mathematics "Respect Mine" featuring the
Wu-Tang Clan... Don't sleep on Brooklyn's 24K
"Skully" (Madd Records). " I threw this joint on not
expecting a whole lot. But, from jump the Just Blaze
track hit me, made me want to grab a drink and head
to the club. 24K reminds me a lot of Angie Martinez.
The remix isn't anything new, just Terror Squad &
Triple Seis spits some nice lyrics. Good 12" for
the club and it will be a banger for radio," says
Darin Gloe from KDRU in Springfield, MO!...
Speakin' of Angie Martinez, she gave birth last week to
a healthy baby boy, Niko Ruffin weighing in at 9
pounds. Congratulations mama!... The 9th Annual B-Boy
Summit is coming to Los Angeles this June 26-29th!
Asia One is back this year as the B-Boy Summit
promises to be bigger & better than ever! Some of the
guest dj's, artists & crews scheduled to appear are:
Icy-Ice, Truly OdD, Choc, Ron G,
Incredible Breakers, Full Circle,
