What's upper! I want to
thank the thousands of hip-hop heads for attending this
years 9th Annual BBoy Summit. I was on the
"Business & Hip-Hop" panel last Saturday afternoon.
Sharing the mic with me were Sway (MTV/Wake Up
Show), Tech & Carmelita Sanchez (Wake Up
Show), Hen Gee, Violet Brown (Wherehouse
Music) & even Large Professor got on the mic &
dropped some knowledge. The turn out was excellent & a
lot of knowledge & years of hip-hop experience was
shared by all of us. It's great to see thousands of
bboys & bgirls still representin' this artform more than
15 years later... Did you peep out the "3rd
Annual BET Awards?" That tribute to Jam
Master Jay was off the hook with dj's Premier,
Grandmaster Flash, Kid Capri & Jazzy
Jeff all on the wheels cuttin' up the classic Run
DMC joints. Off tha hook!... KRS-One won an
injunction against In The Paint/Koch Records,
barring the label from selling his "Kristyle" album due
to contractual breaches with the production & marketing
of his album. According to KRS, he urges his fans to
call (866)HIPHOP9 to order an original & autographed
copy for $10.00... Following the continued success of
his self titled mixtape, "The Story" Def Jam's
recording artist, Jinx Da Juvy will be
releasing his white label club single, "Back It Up" this
week. He has been featured on Kool G. Rap's
album "Roots Of All Evil," DMX's "From The
Cradle To The Grave" and Talib Kweli's
"Hi-Teknology." Jinx Da Juvy will begin his promo tour
this fall to promote his first album "From A G's
Perspective" due out in 2004. Philly's own DJ
Meddafore says, "I think Jinx is real dope. He
hosted my "Vendetta" mix cd about 3 months ago & I'm
always in touch with his manager, Romeo." You can
contact Romeo to get laced at (212) 714-3567 or online
at:
ROMEO@TEFLONMUZIK.COM... With the success of the

878-1100... Swollen Members featuring Nelly
Furtado "Breath" (Battle Axe) recently picked up the
Canadian Much Music Video Award for that single.
Congrats!... On the video tip, Oakland's hip-hop duo,
Zion I needs your support now. MTV2 in
conjunction with Mountain Dew's Amp Energy drink
are holding a contest titled, "Amp Bands Video Brwal"
with 12 of the countries hottest independent, break
through music groups for a prize package & exposure on
MTV/MTV2. Zion I is the only hip-hop group
selected among the 12 bands participating. Log on to:
WWW.AMP.MTV2.COM to watch & vote for your
favorite Video 6 Pack (of course Zion I!). The group
with the most votes will win a production budget for a
video to air on MTV2, a chance to host their video
release on MTV2 & a chance to open for an act on MTV's
"$2 Bill" concert series. Vote now for Zion I... Tech

Damian Rodriguez
from
KGNU in CO. says, "I've been to a riduculous
amount of shows. Seen everybody from wack ass Wu-Tang
(Ghostface specifically & Drunk ass ODB who forgot
his lyrics on stage & said "Yyyyyyaaaaall know my
shit"). Seen Eminem w/ Pyrotechnics w/
Limp Bizkit. Seen Pharcyde w/ 2 members & a
band, but, of all the shows I have ever been to, THIS
WAS THE BEST, Tech N9NE. Tech N9NE performed here in
Denver & he didn't have any stage effects, and didn't
need to, but I can only imagine if he did. He was on
point like no other, his backups were perfect, not
constantly screaming on the mic (like
Wu-Tang.........sup sun.......naw mean..........ya ya
yeeeeaah....all those kinds of words). His opening act
guys weren't the best, but on point. The crowd was
younger & I felt old as hell when they started singing
the lyrics to the opening act, let alone damn near every
song from Tech N9NE. This show was pure hip hop energy
that everyone in the crowd was feeling........like a hip
hop version of (sorry to say) B2K when girls
scream & put their hands up.......only this show was
with real hip hop heads. Wha Wha What. So Nice to see
someone not talking about 24'' spinners and not once
talking about anything negative during his show. Didn't
diss no one on stage, no need to. Someone needs to put
him in the spotlight instead of penny roll "50 CENT."
Tech's
coming back on July 4th & I can't wait to see him again.
He's performing next door to my dj spot on Friday nights
in Boulder, CO."...
"This past Sunday's edition of Beatsauce was
another doozy. First off we spoke with the two men
responsible for the hip hop classic "Style Wars." Props
to director/producer Tony Silver and
co-producer/photographer Henry Chalfant for
dropping by to drop science about their documentation of
the culture. Very informative and if you haven't checked
the DVD of "Style Wars" do so immediately. The bonus
footage is well worth it," says DJ Raw B from
KUSF in SF"... Attention Rap Attack
dj's, if you have not received the latest joint by
Critically Acclaimed "Wallflower," our boy Peter
Rosenberg from WMUC in Chevy Chase, MD will
send you the new commercial versions. Hit him up online
& send him your 411 at:

That is his new way 2 way address... Have you peeped the

"Plug Tunin'," Noreaga "Superthug," Pete
Rock & C.L. Smooth "They Reminisce Over You" &
Digital Underground "Same Song." Holla at Jessica
over at SPECTRE MUSIC to get laced at (213)
368-1601 or online at:
JESSICA@SPECTREMUSIC.COM... The remix by 50 Cent
