Just when you thought it was
safe, the dastardly dwarf returns. Yes indeed, due to
Nes finishing his big move, here I am dropping some
insight for all of you. Ya ready? Alright let’s go...
Possibly the hardest working yet down low type cat is
our boy Cleavon at SRC in New York. His
plate is full as he is ready to serve the dj’s with some
heat such as David Banner's “Cadillac On
22’s”, Akon’s “Bonanza”, Ric-A-Che’s”, and
the exclusive David Banner remix of “Like A Pimp”
featuring Twista & Busta. But wait, that’s
not all. Cleavon is also rocking the mic on “Serious”
and along side G-Dep on “Break Me Off”. For info
on any of these tracks, get at our boy:
cleavon.shuler@umusic.com or at
212.331.2627…For the past few years Tribeca has
been killing it on the underground tip. Now he’s back
with “Charlie Hustle” on Major League Entertainment.
The b-side, “Throw Heat”, features another strong up &
comer in Doujah Raze. Don’t sleep on this. Hit up
Sean at Major League, 212.840.5579, and tell’em
RapAttack sent ya…On a brief personal
note, I was very pleased to recently find out that
Jessica Alba (Dark Angel) is again single. Not like
I have a chance but it helps keep my spirits up ya
know…While it may not sound too inviting to eat,
Strange Fruit is a group you need to peep out. The
single, “All The Way” b/w “Maintain”, is a strong
offering on Kajmere Sound Recordings. For more
info, reach out to Jessica @ Spectre at
213.368.1601... Be on the look out for the new Black
Moon album entitled “Total Eclipse” on DuckDown
Records. It drops on October 7th. Thanks
to Buckshot who called into my radio show last
week. Log on to:
WWW.DUCKDOWN.COM for more info... If
you’re looking for something with a really dope message
in the music, you have to peep out The Oddjobs
“Transparent” on Third Earth. These guys break
down the theme of un-involved parents and the resulting
affects. Man this song is dope.
ThirdEarthLings@hotmail.com is who
you need to shout out for info on this heater… Back in
full effect is Concise straight outta Vancouver,
BC. His single “Bust Back” features Checkmate and
DT. It should be in burning on your tables by now
but if it’s not, give Jay Swing a shout @
604.415.9296 or online at:
doubleup@infinet.net...
My vertically challenged brother from another
mother, ID is holding it down at Hiero
Imperium. Look down and ask him about the new
Hieroglyphic record “Powers That Be." Peep
this record because Pep Love really comes correct
on this one. To get laced, call 510.444.5351... Had a
chance to see Panjabi MC rock a club in San
Francisco this weekend. Kind of hot for sure...
Admittedly there has been a fair amount of confusion
among dj’s lately with regards to Interscope. One
thing that is not confusing though is that the new
Obie Trice record is BLAZING! “When The Sh*t Hits
The Fan” featuring Dr. Dre & Eminem is a
direct hit on JA Rule's battleship. To get
your hands on it, shout out our boy Benny “I
didn’t bust at Carlito” Blanco @ 310.865.7921…
Did any of you catch the VH-1 special on Ol’
Dirty, uh I mean, Dirt McGirt? I thought this
was a real entertaining show as it chronicled his
activities in the two weeks after his parole. It was
funny watching him cavort a variety of people including
a “fresh out of high school” manager, a thugged out
promo rep, an in your face parole officer, and of course
the token stripper. Ah yes, you have to love Ol’ Dirty
don’t you? But the most entertaining part of the special
was seeing & hearing Damon Dash and RZA
resolved contract issues. And while we’re on the topic
of tv, let me just say that “Cheaters” ROCKS!!!!!… Are
you sleeping on the Lifesavas? Shame on you if
you are. They have a slammin single out now called
“Selecta” on Quannum Records featuring J-Live.
Give Jessica @ Spectre a call at the above number for
the hook up…You know I gotta give some props real quick.
Every week I see a large amount of charts from dj’s.
Many of them add a little commentary in there charts and
that’s cool. But one cat who seriously should be writing
comedy in Hollywood is Edgie Soprano from WUNH
in Durham, NC. This guy is off the chart with his
views and comments on popular issues and music. One of
my weekly highlights for real… Best wishes to Xzibit
who recently had problems with some wanna be tough
guys… Not many people in hip-hop recognize Fresno, CA as
anything but a town you pass by on your way from San
Francisco to Los Angeles but that’s about to change. You
already know that Planet Asia is reppin’ Fresno
but now there’s a new cat on the scene. Verb Stylo
is ready to show the world he can hang with best of
them. He’s already been in ciphers with the Clipse
and has been rockin’ numerous shows thoughout
Central Cali and now he’s dropping his debut album.
“Hell Or High Water” on Solid Ground Records is
packed with something for everybody. Whether it be the
club or the street, Verb Stylo has it covered. Don’t
sleep. For more info peep out:
www.solidgroundrecords.com or call
559.261.0226 … One record that's making noise with a lot
of dj’s especially our Conference Call
panel is Hezekiah feat. Bahamadia “Gypsy
Slang” on Soul Spazm Records. Solid production
with Bahamadia really spitting venom. I haven’t heard
her come this correct since she dropped “Total Wreck”
back in the mid-90’s. To get laced, contact 212.475.3812
and let’em know RapAttack sent ya….Happy Bday to
my man King Shameek out in New Jersey.
Congratulations on the success with the Miss Nana
project. Miss Nana will be the opening act on Bow Wow's
"Unleashed Tour" & will be on the road through
September. Shameek says, "I never thought that I would
be DJ'ing for a 12 year old, let alone a girl. But
that's what's up. Thanx again to you and all the DJ's
who are supporting Miss Nana. You can peep out both Bow
Wow & Miss Nana in an upcoming episode of BET's
106 & Park. And yes indeed, I will be at your party
Shameek in San Jose on the 15th… Ruff
Ryder's Kevin "Ice" Cooper has opened
up his new record label, Wildfire Ent.. His first
artist signed to his new label is Reed with
"Indian Song." Rap Attack dj's peep your email
for the MP3 & everyone else can holla at Kev online at:
KEVCOOP718@AOL.COM... Being the 80’s maniac that
I am, it was wild this past weekend as I traveled down
to Paso Robles, CA to see 80’s dance group Expose
reunite for the first time in 10 years to perform. Man
it really brought back a lot of memories of Aquanet
hairspray and turtlenecks… Record labels, please update
your files. Damian Rodriguez a.k.a. DJ Groove’s
new mailing address is KGNU / 3241 E. 103rd
Place # 1005 / Denver, CO 80229. Make sure you lace
him with all the heat... People Under The Stairs
are about to hit the scene once again with “Or Stay
Tuned” on OM Records. It drops on August 19. To
make sure you get serviced, hit up Dirk Hahl at
415.377.2219… Is it me or is it about damn time that
football season started again? Despite what Chris
“I wear Orange and Blue underroos” Hodkins from
KGNU in CO., he says, the AFC West still belongs
to the Raiders. Silver and Black run the Bay Area
and don’t forget it!!!!... Big ups to our fam over at
Platinum Queens. This week they give props on their
site to our own Nasty-Nes & Rap Attack
Mixtape Reporter DJ Yoshi reppin' New
Jersey. Here's the link:

From big butts to big d#cks! Seattle's Grammy Award
winner, Sir Mix-A-Lot will be dropping his first
new joint in over 8 years with "Big Johnson" (Rhyme
Cartel/IMusic/BMG). Hey now!... The past few weeks in
Nasty News, we've been pre-hyping the new
Phar City joints "Got Em" b/w "Throw Your Hands In
The Air" featuring Panjabi MC (Dolo Mic). Our
panel just got laced & here's what they're sayin' about
CT.'s finest; DJ Scene (KEXP-Seattle, WA):
" Dope party joint! 'Got 'Em' has that house
party feel to it and keeps the crowd moving!"
Earthquake (Live365.com): "Got Em" is
a nice track with a totally different feel to it. The
beat is blazing and the singing took a while to get used
to but I dig it. On the other hand the B side is totally
blazing. Don't know what Panjabi is saying but the beat
is blazing and he rips it. This is a club banger!!!!" DJ
Herk (Mixtape reporter/WFNM Lancaster,
PA): " I do feel the "throw your hands in the
air" the beat is tight and their hook deliveries are
alright and same with their lyrics I still play it
because of the beat & Panjabi MC. If they would redid
their vocals and ride the beat right it would be a hit
like " Beware Of The Boys." A lot of emcee's don't
attack the beat right, to me that is the diffrence
between a Jay-Z and these guys. Jay-Z, Nas, Ghostface,
Mos Def, Talib, Chopps from Planet Asia, Rasco, Ludicris,
50 Cent, Eminem & my favorite, M.O.P. all attack the
beat, they just don't spit on the track. All around it
is a good record & has potential! Chris Westbrooks
( WSYC Shippensburg, PA): "I love the
beat, the hook is tight, I got a good response when I
played it in the club. I am really feeling this track."
DJ Solo (WECI Richmond, IN): "After
droppin the needle on this, I was like aw shit!!! This
is bangin." Holla at Crisis for copies at (860)
883-1697... Planet Asia is back with "Summertime
In The City" (produced by J-Thrill) b/w "G's &
Soldiers" featuring Kurupt (Avatar). Vinyl on
it's way this week! For more info, contact Dionte
Griffin over at Avatar at (323) 878-1114 or
online at:
