CAN I GET A BUDWEISER?  Straight outta Milwaukee's WMSE are left to right: hip-hop recording artist Akrobatik & WMSE's Aaron Wade!

GETTIN' SILLY IN PHILLY! After downing 6 cheesesteak sandwiches & 6 Tums tablets, Nasty-Nes (left) & Philly's own Suspens (Suspens Recordings) are all smiles!

[[ August 25, 2003  ]]

Three strikes and you're out! That’s was Nes told me so I better come correct on this one right? Back again it’s everybody’s favorite disgruntled midget, Kazzeo! Where shall I start this week? Well how about saying that I finally had a chance to see the movie “American Wedding” and it was funny as hell. Well not as funny as “Kung Pow! Enter The Fist” but very, very, very close. I think they definitely closed the chapter on the franchise and did it in a great way. Who knew Stiffler could rock the dance floor like he did in the movie? I haven’t seen dope moves like that since Cooley used to bust wicked donkey kicks on Solid Gold!... If anyone still hasn’t gotten their hands on the new Vishiss record “Thaswhassup”, you can call Goodvibe directly at 323.650.5180 and get laced up... The Cali Agent himself, Planet Asia, is back with “Summertime In The City” on Avatar Records. Produced by J-Thrill, Asia puts it down in a big way. Check for the b-side as well called “G’s & Soldiers” featuring Kurupt. This is some straight West Coast fire. For more info, contact Aaron Mellon @ 323.692.1187 or Dionte Griffin @ 323.878.1100 and tell them you read about in the Nasty News!... When people think of Chicago, some think of the great Walter Payton. Others think of the invincible Bulls of the early 90’s. And some even think of the horrible “Superbowl Shuffle” video from 1985. But now there is something else to think about. All Natural Inc. brings to you Family Tree, who recently released the underground banger “Virgo." They just dropped the DJ Spinna remix of it and it is hot. Along with that, their album “Tree House Rock” is in stores now. And don’t sleep on label mate Iomos Marad and his single “Each 1 Teach 1” b/w “Appetite To Write” featuring J-Live. For more info on these records, call 312.850.1471 or 312.409.4754 .  Maybe with all this heat coming out Chicago, DJ 3rd Rail will ease up and admit to being an avid bowler. LOL. It’s a joke, don’t hurt me man…Who are Fat Jon and Pase Rock? Well they are Cincinnati’s own Five Deez (Fifth Dimension) and they’re back with a new single entitled “Funky” b/w “Hey Young World”. The b-side is an homage to Slick Rick well worth checkin’ out.  Their album, “Kinkynasti”, drops in September so show some love and support the independent kids. For service, reach out to 213.368.1601 and speak with everyone’s favorite toll booth clerk, Jessica at Spectre…A lot of dj’s have been inquiring to me about the single from Da Ranjahz feat. Cee-Lo called “Insp-Her-Ation” on Villa Records produced by Primo. Well here’s the lowdown. If you haven’t been laced yet, hit up our boy Marv Mack 310.289.408 or log on to www.topnotchpromo.com . And don’t forget to look for the album “M.O.S. - Money Over Sex” coming later this summer…While I may be a bit skeptical about putting my money in the Bank Of Portugal, I do know they have released some real heat with “Today Yesterday” by A.M.P. - Anger Management Program. Produced by Flipout, these guys are coming correct from Canada. For more knowledge, hit up our boy Jay Swing at 604.689.5822 or swingpromo@telus.net …A couple of events happening in Los Angeles. Sept. 2nd at Boardners (1652 North Cherokee in Hollwood) there will be a meet and greet with C-Rayz Walz @ 9pm to promote his album “Ravipops” which is in stores now. Also, the Wake Up Show will be presenting an MC Battle on August 30 at the Henry Ford Theater. The address is 6126 Hollywood Blvd at the corner of Hollywood and Gower. It starts at 7pm and in addition to the battle, there will be performances from Gang Starr, Tha Liks, Defari, EL-P and C-Rayz Walz, Rahzel, Planet Asia. For more info, call 323.464.0808... Here are some tour dates of some quality hip-hop shows you should support when they come to your town. Lifesavas will be rockin’ in Portland, OR (8-31), San Francisco, CA (9-4), Los Angeles, CA (9-5), and San Diego, CA (9-6)... Atmosphere, Mr. Dibbs, Micranots, and Oddjobs will be hitting Calgary Sept. 12, Vancouver Sept. 14, Seattle Sept. 15, Reno Sept. 18, San Francisco Sept. 20, Santa Cruz Sept. 21, Los Angeles Sept. 22 & 23, Las Vegas Sept. 28, Denver Sept. 30, and Iowa City Oct. 7…Remember we told you about C-Rayz Walz and Raekwon touring? Here’s some of the dates.  NYC Sept. 23, Chicago Sept. 28, Minneapolis Sept. 29, Fort Collins, CO Oct. 4, Seattle Oct. 6, Santa Cruz, CA Oct.11, San Francisco Oct. 12, Los Angeles Oct. 13 & 15, El Paso Oct. 17, Houston Oct. 19, Atlanta Oct. 21, Baltimore Oct. 25, Philadelphia Oct. 26, and Cleveland Nov. 2…Mr Lif, Aesop Rock, Murs, and DJ Fakts 1 are also on the road. Princeton, NJ Oct. 15, Burlington, VT Oct. 17, Montreal Oct. 19, Ann Arbor, MI Oct. 21, Columbus, OH Oct. 25, and Philadelphia Oct. 29… Always entertaining, High & Mighty return October 7 with the new album called “The Highlight Zone." Notable as a guest on the album is actor Michael Rappaport who, among numerous roles, really rocked in the movie “Cop Land” with Sylvester Stallone… Only in Oakland. Irv Gotti busted with Viagra? This is where you add your own commentary…Whatever happened to Tony Curtis, formerly of MCA? If anyone knows the werabouts of this guy, let me know. He still owes me $15 for a bootleg Motley Crue import cd…My posse’s in Monterey! That’s what Sir Mix-A-Lot be heard saying this past Saturday night as he hit the stage at Club Octane in Monterey, CA. Plenty of “Buttermilk Biscuits” were passed around as Mix rocked his “Square Dance Rap."  I saw one honey in the crowd and when I tried to prove to her that “I Got Game” by whispering in her ear that “Baby Got Back," she shocked me by taking me to the side of the club asked me if I wanted her to “Put’em On The Glass”. Hell Yeah! Unfortunately I didn’t realize she was Attitude Adjuster’s girl. Out of nowhere I got clocked in the dome by a massive four finger ring. I guess I should have just went and hung with Maharaji instead. Coming soon from Mix-A-Lot, "Big Johnson!" (Rhyme Carter/IMusic/BMG)... Talk about a tough break (literally) for the Atlanta Falcons. Hopefully Michael Vick will not rush his rehab and come back when he’s naturally ready and not commercially ready… Think about how hilarious TV would have been presented had Chris Farley lived and the guys from “Queer Eye For The Straight Guy” got a hold of him. That would have been so funny… Before I bounce this week, let me get in a shameless plug (like it would be any other way right?). September 17 will be my 10 year anniversary at KHDC in Salinas, CA and if any label reps or artists would like to be part of the show via phone in’s, please get at me in advance so I can get you the number to call. dj_kazzeo@yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing from you… If you're into the r&b meets hip-hop tip (i.e. LL meets R Kelly vibe), then look out for the debut indy joint from Stress & Magyver "Your Body's Like" (Crimson INK). This cut has a nice catchy hook & flow to it that I'm feeling. For more info on getting laced contact Jo Jo over at Bryan Farrish Promotions online at: JOJO@RADIO-MEDIA.COM or at 818. 905.8038...
