Here
we go with the post Labor Day weekend news. I hope you
all had a safe holiday weekend. I'm DJ Kazzeo
back again filling in for the Nasty one as he
gets settled into his new digs... Isn’t it wild how,
despite getting older and wiser (?), guys will still do
things completely against their usual nature just to
impress a female. Damn, girls got all the power I swear…
Gotta start this week by hipping you to an upcoming show
featuring our boy Doujah Raze. On September 6th,
Doujah will be rocking at the Wall St. Outdoor
Entertainment Complex in Philadelphia along with
Kenneth Masters, Critically Acclaimed, and
Sadat X. For more info, log on to
http://numilleniumentertainment.com …
This weeks common knowledge reminder is THERE IS NO
RENEGOTIATING ONCE A DEAL IS DONE! LEARN IT… RZA’s
label, Wu-Records, will be distributed by RCA.
Look for the first release to be “The Birth Of A Prince”
by RZA himself. Look for it soon… In your hands now
should be the latest single from Baby D “It’s
Goin’ Down” featuring Bone Crusher and Dru.
If you haven’t gotten it yet, make sure and reach out to
our boy Nathan Sheard @ 212. 842.2739 and tell
him RapAttack sent you…10 years after
instructing the world to “Come Clean”, Jeru the
Damaja is back with “War” on Ashenafi
Entertainment. Once again the Dirty Rotten
Scoundrel brings the heat with his usual style. To
get your hands on it, reach out to 718.677.5999 or visit
www.thedamaja.com and get the
knowledge…Whoever is responsible for creating these damn
virus chain emails, you have nothing to be proud of… My
homie Jason D of KHDC Salinas, CA is no
longer within our 2way circle. Make sure you contact him
at
djjasond@yahoo.com
to learn how to stay in steady contact with this true
boss baller… Zion I are really keeping busy
lately. They are preparing for the release of the DVD
“Curb Servin” which will drop along with a cd of the
same name. Also, their latest single “The Drill”, will
be hitting your tables around the end of September along
with a video for the track. To help promote all of this,
the group is available to do phone in’s to your shows
throughout the month. If you’re interested in hooking
this up, you need to contact Ashok Kamal at
212.253.0884 or
kamal@raptivism.com
and while you’re at it, ask about what the Last
Emperor has planned for October. Very interesting
indeed... Remember Jonas Goldstien? You know, the
kid who used to have it locked down at Ruffhouse
a few years back. Well he’s back in the game and is
about to be hitting you up with his new artist Mr.
Unlikely. To get the advance word you can log on to
www.burblife.com or get at Jonas
directly. 484-919-9096 or
getdown@burblife.com … It’s about to be
on! September 15 up in Seattle, the Sevens Travels
tour featuring Atmosphere, The Micranots,
and Oddjobs hit the Emerald City. Now things are
about to get even better as Brother Ali has been
added to the bill. Make sure and show the groups that
Seattle is down for hip-hop by selling this show out…
Those of you who know me know I spend my leisure time
scouting out new “talent” online. I have discovered
another one. Her name is Mey Li and she’s a 19
year old import car show model from Maryland. You can
check her out by visiting
www.geocities.com/missmeyli … Here’s a
couple of hot shows hitting San Francisco and Los
Angeles next week. September 4th at Slims in
San Francisco will be Lifesavas & Ugly
Duckling. Then on September 5th in Los
Angeles at the Knitting Factory you can check out
Lifesavas, Ugly Duckling, and People Under The Stairs.
If you are interested in either of these shows, hit up
Jessica from Spectre at 213.368.1601 for
the v.i.p. treatment… I want to recap something I saw
this past week. I was at the De La Soul show this
past Wednesday night. They rocked it big time &
performed for close to 1 hour and 45 minutes. Crowd was
live and everything, but I saw something that made me
frown. One of their stage security, who used to be a
photographer for 4080 magazine in the Bay
Area went a bit overboard in my opinion. Here’s the
deal. During the performance, a fan in the front row got
on stage. This is a no no to begin with. Appropriate
thing to do at this point would be to escort him off
the stage. However, that wasn’t the case. This security
that I mentioned grabs the guy, drags him to the side of
the stage, launches him over a 4 feet wide / 4 feet deep
walk way space and into an adjacent staircase. I’m no
lawyer but to me that would appear to be unnecessary
force and be grounds for some sort of legal prosecution.
The guy was not resisting his removal in any way. The
security looked to just be on some sort of power trip
and that’s completely wrong in any situation. Especially
a hip-hop show which already is going to be under the
microscope being that the media is readily set to blame
hip-hop for any of the ills in today’s society in
relation to it’s youth. Now you see why I should be
governor?… Rhino Records is about to make a lot
of you newer dj’s happy as they release “Yo! MTV Raps -
Journey Back In Rhyme”. The initial samplers have been
serviced and they are hot to def. Included are 80’s
classics from Rob Base “It Takes Two," Slick
Rick “Children’s Story" and Boogie Down
Productions “South Bronx” as well as early 90’s
heaters such as Wu-Tang Clan “C.R.E.A.M.,"
Mobb Deep “Shook Ones Part 2” and Junior Mafia
“Players Anthem”. This is a must have if you’re rockin’
the party. There are 3 ways to get laced with this.
Contact Brian Samson @ 323.878.1100, Prince
Ice @ 818.340.6624 or the man the LA Dream Team
made the tribute record for, RockBarry @
818.238.6260. Hurry up before they run out… Gas face of
the week has to go to Bill Romanowski. C’mon man.
At your age, you should not be acting like an idiot.
Show some class… One of Canada’s finest, Saukrates,
is back and ready to bring the heat. “Coming Up” &
“Something 4 The Streets” are both headknocking tracks
that should help this veteran make some noise at radio.
To get your hands on a copy, hit up David Cox at
416.718.4239 or
david.cox@umusic.com … Here’s a message
to those dj’s who are not recognized as Rap Attack
reporters. Do you really think that im’ing me with your
complaints and then blocking me before I can respond
helps? First off, I don’t make the decisions. Second,
does this action help you get a positive referral from
me? The answer is no. Learn how to play the game before
you get on the field… Madonna, Britney,
and Christina kissing = ONE VERY HAPPY MIDGET!
Thank you MTV! If you didn’t see the MTV VMA '03
awards this past Thursday then you missed out. It was
really nice seeing the acknowledgment of Jam Master
Jay and how the crowd all held up Adidas when
Run and D came on the stage… This Tuesday
in Los Angeles, Sept. 2nd at Boardners (1652
North Cherokee in Hollwood) there will be a meet and
greet with C-Rayz Walz @ 9pm to promote his album
“Ravipops” which is in stores now. Here are some tour

when they come to your town. Lifesavas will be
rockin’ in Portland, OR (8-31), San Francisco, CA (9-4),
