Cleveland's in the house this week as
WRUW's own, Garbs Infinite is in
the mix with his bangin' new cd, "The
Conspiracy Theory (Pandemik
Records)."
Yes Garbs Infinite is also an emcee & can
hang with the best on the M.I.C.. Featured
are 20 phat tracks by Garbs with guest
appearances by artists; R. Davinchi,
Saj Supreme, Beateffeck and Vincenzo.
One of my favorite tracks on this cd has
got to be track # 14, "Mom's Cookin'." If
you loved Pac's, "Dear Mama," this
one comes close. One listen & you'll know
why.
I asked Garbs himself to give us a review
of his thoughts behind his own cd, "The
Conspiracy Theory" & which tracks are his
favorite:
1. Junky - When I found this Ester
Phillips sample I immediately had to
work with it! And I based what i wrote about
around the parts in the sample that i
chopped up. The first verse I actually wrote
in the car just listening to the beat and it
was kind of like something just clicked in
my mind. I went home and finished it. In my
eyes this song is special to me because I
know the Hip Hop heads can appreciate it as
well as the everyday music listeners because
of the subject matter and me writing it for
the streets but about the way that I push my
music and my love for Hip Hop Culture
2. Chocolate Candies - I wrote this
cut with Davinchi (another member of
the Pandemik Records Family) I
like this track because I tried to do
something that the Ladies would enjoy but at
the same time I wouldn't be reaching to far
out of my musical flavor. I wanted to give
the women something to bump that they can
listen to without hearing negative words
about them. I think we accomplished that in
this joint.
3. Moms Cookin - This one is probably
my favorite. I really put my heart into this
song. It is very personal, but I believe
that is the best music that comes
out....when it is the truth. A lot of artist
have a tough time putting my true emotions
about their past on record and they feel
that they have to keep a wall up around
their mind, but me, I think I was blessed
with a gift to relate to people who are
going through or have previously gone
through similar things. It was a very tough
song to record, but I think this encompasses
what I am about and who I make my music for
4. Corner Knowledge - This track is
just a rhyming interlude but I would call it
one of my favorites on The Conspiracy Theory
because it is a stripped down song and to me
reflects what Hip Hop is all about. No
Drums, No Ad Libs, No Nothing!!! Just some
singing and some rhyming on the corner. This
is another song that I believe helps explain
who I am as a person & as an artist.
5. The Pandemik Anthem - On this
track the listeners get to take a glimpse at
my crew. This song to me is one of my
favorites because it is a strait up
Cleveland Hip Hop track, very aggressive &
lyrical which is the original
Cleveland
sound. Many people don't know to much about
the
Cleveland
Ohio's deep roots in Hip Hop, but that is
what we were built from and what we
represent. Hitting people over the head with
some good lyrics. No hooks, no gimmicks just
5 cats on a beat going for theirs!!!!
In addition, Garbs says, "People can check
