THE 411 UP NORTH
COURTESY OF DIALOG
DEDICATED.
After 3 long month’s of waiting, our Voice for
College Radio and long time friend Nasty Nes has
finally been free’d! One of the reason’s you
haven’t seen this section updated as often is the
fact that during tough times it’s really difficult
to get motivated but now that things are a little
closer to “normal” it’s time to get the ball
rolling again and show that our Rap Attack panel
is stronger than ever and is ready to take over
the music industry! Big shout outs to Kazzeo who
held things down this past while (you did a great
job homie & congrats on the new title). I’m glad
you’re back with us Nes!
With all the world’s TV’s and radio’s set on War
mode, it’s really hard to search the country for
hiphop when you have all these other things on
your mind but I really believe that hiphop music
is a way for ALL of us to get our opinions heard
one way or another. That’s why we all must
continue to do our jobs as hosts and DJ’s on
college and community radio to broadcast open
minded programs without government propaganda.
Let’s be heard!!!
As
mentioned in previous “What’s Upper North’s” Dig
Your Root’s has officially started broadcasting
it’s live to air feeds across Canadian radio
stations. I strongly suggest everybody taking some
time in their busy week to listen to some of these
show’s and hear some of Canada’s finest in
independent hip-hop. Here are the next few dates
to look out for:
March 26th live in Montreal @ 8pm CST -
Featuring: Les Architekts, Wyzah, Josh Martinez,
and Half Life
March
29th live in Halifax @ 8pm CST -
Featuring: Classified, First Words, and The Goods
You can
find a list of stations that will be broadcasting
these event’s online at:
www.digyourroots.ca.
Click
at Universal has sent me some information about a
Canadian organization by the name of “DSU”. Down
Side Up Network is “Canada’s Underground Hiphop
Connection” run by Matt The Hiphop Bear. Their
mission statement is to do everything they can to
connect Canada's underground or independent hip
hop scenes and to bring artists and group’s
together using an interactive Network. The webpage
features a message board, store, street team
information as well as a province to province
directory of Canadian emcee’s. If you like to
search out the independent of independent hiphop
this is a great place to start. Hit up
www.dsunetwork.ca
or

for more info!!
Rochester aka Juice has recently been making noise
in Toronto. Not only has he won Flow 93.5 FM’s
First Annual Soul Search competition, Universal
Music Canada’s “My Block Remix” and being the
voice of Basketball City on Sportsnet but has also
locked down a national add campaign with Athlete’s
World (now that’s putting in work!!). My man
Jahmal put me on to Rochester by saying “he spit’s
fire like a dragon” and is definitely right about
that. You can check out 3 of his joints “Young
Love, Don’t Stop and Too long featuring Mhedikc
and Jarod at

It’s
worth the listen!
I Hope
this provides you with some new music to dig for
over the next few weeks. If you have any new’s or
comments please feel free to reach out at

.
Thank’s for all the support! Stay safe!
Peace,
