THE 411 UP NORTH COURTESY OF DIALOG

Whaddup World!!

Hope you all had a great holiday!! It's another year and we should all be thankfull we are able to do the things we love to do in life including blessin' the listeners with some of the dopest music ever made. I decided the first column of the year would be a little rap up of some of the harder releases in 2004. Let's get started with the North!

In 2004, Canada's Indy mc's got their music out there on vinyl and cd and even touched the US market. Some of the artists that made a mark were K-OS with his BBoy Stance 12" which was also promoted by Spectre in California, The Trupaz with "For Whom The Bell Tolls" that got mad video play on much music, "Shake Ya Kaboose" a real catchy joint from Pimp Tea who finally hit the college radio circuit. A Little to the left we had releases from John Smith "Pinky's Laundry Mat" including a Peanuts and Corn tour with Shazaam of the Frek Sho & Pip Skid through Ontario in the Spring of 2004 with myself on the bill.  Big Ups to Ming for takin care of the whole crew!!!!  War Party's HellNBack formed a crew called Rez Official, made a video for one of the dopest singles this year "The Struggle" and signed a major distribution deal through Arbor/EMI Canada. Congrats on that major accomplishment homies!! Vancouver's biggest success this year was definitly Sweatshop Union. They released "Natural Progression" through BattleAxe/EMI Canada as well as recieved Full Rotation on Much Music and were on the road for numerous tours through-out Canada.

Another BIG shout out goes to Dj Brace (from Winnipeg Manitoba) who took 1st place at the National DMC's and got a chance to represent Canada at the World DMC finals in England!! Let's do it again this year man!
