| DJs From Across the Globe Unite To Strategically Impact the Music Industry Union Results in the Formation of the International DJ Trade Association |
| Atlanta, GA (2008) - The International Disc Jockey Trade Association (IDJTA) is an association of DJs, DJ Coalitions, and DJ affiliates from around the world. Formed in July 2008 as International Disc Jockey, LLC, the IDJTA serves as an advocacy group on a range of public policy and rights issues. The association is especially committed to improving the understanding of, respect, and compensation for the role of the DJ in the entertainment industry and being a powerful unified voice on behalf of DJ's interests.
Founder, Edwin "Crazy Eddie" Myles, and Co-Founder Dj Judge Mental shared a common passion for the DJ industry and have come together to help manifest a united voice for DJs and industry professionals in a power move to create a more stable and profitable industry. Additional seasoned industry professionals have been brought together as the Executive Board including Angela Nash (Up Top Enterprises, LLC), Missy B (VP Marketing, SWURV Radio), Calvin Matthews (The Industry Connect), DJ Scorpio (mixer WQKI/SwurvRadio.com), Edwina Warder (eBiz Marketing), and Jacqueline Taylor-Adams (Master Griot Publishing). Advisory Board members serving the IDJTA include, Africa Bambataa (Zulu Nation), TJ Chapman (TJs DJs), Brian Paiz (Clear Channel Communications), Charlotte "Beach Bunny" O'Laughlin (Promotions), DJ Jazzy J, Mix Master Ice, DJ Dolla Bill (Major Movez Germany), DJ Jiji Sweet (Sweet Factory), and DJ Aaries (Hood Hard DJs). The profession of the Disc Jockey (DJ) has grown to a level of public awareness like never before in the history of the entertainment industry. Yet, as a profession, the DJ industry has fallen short in recognition, respect, compensation, unity, and education. Also, the strategic role of the DJ in the music industry has been overlooked. The IDJTA has launched a fully interactive website and online community that exceeds 350 members. The association has already begun securing exclusive benefits of true value for its membership including broker discounts on printing, special car rental rates with free upgrades and car rental service for members ages 21-24, corporate air travel with free business class upgrades, priority seating, refundable fares, and no additional charges on name changes and same-day, same city pair standby, plus many other benefits. Insurance brokers are also evaluating the growing membership in order to provide affordable health benefit options within the next six to nine months. IDJTA serves to unify, educate, and elevate the DJ. The Association mission statement clearly states that it is NOT a "DJ Crew" or DJ Coalition and purposefully will not provide any competition to such entities. It is the intention of the IDJTA to form strategic alliances in an effort to provide its members with innovative outstanding programming and benefits from insurances and education to raised industry standards and creation of economic opportunities. The trade association is operated by the DJs for the DJs. |

Steelo is the perfect balance of Hip-Hop and r&b. A.Uno and Bobby K. blend pure r&b, slick rhymes and progressive beats to create a sound that is outright undeniable. Lyricist A.Uno brings thought-provoking rhymes and a smooth delivery, captivating audiences in English, Spanish, and Farsi. Bobby K is simply known as "the voice." This singer/songwriter's melodies and harmonies come to life through his charismatic performances and exquisite vocal range. Together, they are dynamic and creating a sound that can only be called Steelo.
The duo's new single, "Make Up My Mind," is a bouncy club track with searing r&b vocals and a party feel. It was released to radio summer of 2008 and was the #2 added record on college radio its first week, second only to NAS.
They released their debut single, "Let It Roll," in June 2007. The smooth, feel-good, summer cruising track is produced by hit-maker Fingazz of Streetlight Music (Lean Like a Cholo, Summer Nights) and the freshman single was dubbed "a sure-fire summer hit" by Wild 96.1 in Riverside, California.
Steelo has opened for Pitbull, Sean Kingston, Rich Boy, Lloyd Banks, Baby Bash, Mobb Deep, Digital Underground and Lil Rob. They have also appeared on the Lowrider Car Show Tour and at a number of Washington State Universities.
In addition to music, Steelo also conducts a student empowerment program, an in-school workshop that encourages students to realize aspirations, strategize a path to success and measure the results. Steelo reflects on their experience in the music industry as an example of achieving both personal and professional goals. They have appeared at many Seattle-area high schools, at the CASHE Conference at Washington State University and at the MEChA Conference at Western Washington University...

Nate Abney (WKDU-Philly): "The fall is official now and the playoffs are approaching and the Phils look like they will make a run. Apologies to Big Ben for taking the beating of a middleweight boxer last Sunday( that what happens when you live on that side of the state). Shouts to my man NYC, who got on the same bill as KRS-ONE, RAKIM, BOBBY BROWN, and KEITH SWEAT. The best part is it all at Madison Square Garden on Oct 2nd. Can I hold a bag or something? Now take off Bobby Brown and Keith Sweat and add Michael Jackson and that is the last concert I'll ever attend. Anyhow keeping it rather metropolitan this week. Talk everyone later"...
Edgie Kokoski (WUNH-NH): "I'm actually sad to say that I'm writing this from my desk in NH after spending an awesome weekend in Manhattan. I have to shout out industry legends The Double J (Foundation Media/Trilogy Records) and Jessica (Spectre) for showing me a great time out on the town. New York City is always a wild place to spend a few days, and this past weekend was no exception.
My trip started in predictable fashion with a U.S. Airways trying to jux me. 'That will be $15.00 to check your bag,' the lady at the counter stated blandly. 'Is there an extra fee for my oxygen mask and flotation device?' I replied as I handed over my MasterCard. Lesson #1: Don't fly anywhere that is within driving distance these days. Because the airlines will charge you for taking a leak in the bathroom or reclining your seat.
I next encountered the geniuses in the air traffic control tower at LaGuardia who kept us on the Tarmac for 60 minutes before my 55 minute flight even began. 'This is the third time this week that LaGuardia has done this to us' said the pilot over the P.A. I appreciate that tidbit Captain. I would have appreciated it more at the gate so that I could have retired to the airport lounge for an extra 60 minutes to swig down a couple of $9 beers while admiring 'Lord of the Rings' chess sets in the Skymall catalog. Lesson #2: no matter how simple the trip seems, it will get screwed up in some manner.
One of the best things about New York is the subway crazies. The first one that encountered was ironically an aspiring hip hop artist who felt that the best way to promote himself was by shouting his life story loudly to the empty subway tracks that stretched before him. 'I ain't Big. I ain't Pac. I ain't 50. I'm like Big L when he came out, son' he lauded gesturing wildly into the stale, rancid air. After outlining his plan for 'stacking that paper', he proceeded to break down his personal relationship with our lord and savior. '(racial expletive)'s ain't know Jesus. I know Jesus. Jesus took my son. Jesus took my man. So I know Jesus'. I hoped he did know Jesus, as that is who I was silently asking to protect me in case this lunatic moved towards me. Lesson #3: Jesus saves.
Probably the highlight of the trip was visiting my personal mecca: Giants Stadium. The G-Men won a barn burner in OT that had me comtemplating whether or not I would crap my pants before my heart exploded. Giants Stadium was a fantastic place to spend a day, as it was teeming with my big blue brethern who were surprisingly well behaved and unified. Aside from the lousy food and lackluster team store, the trip was everything I dreamed of. I had to chuckle though as throughout the game they gave away cheesy prizes like free hot dogs. They're charging $7.75 for a beer and $4.50 for bottled water and the best they can give away is a free hot dog? Lesson #4: Nothing in the greater NYC area is free. At least in Vegas they give you a complimentary drink while they rob the sh!t out of you.
Nothing proved this more than when I encountered a famous recording artist on the streets of Times Square. He's sold more records than most hip hop artists you know. But if you look carefully at the attached photo, you will see that even he is holding a shakedown bag to fleece unsuspecting tourists out of a tip. I gave him a tip: you have to get up pretty early in the morning to squeeze a buck out of me. Unless you are checking my suitcase"...
Nesto (WODU-VA): "Ok is anyone else not so sure about this whole government bail out with this banking, and mortgage disaster? All of us will all be the ones paying for this. My question is how the hell did it get to this point? I mean if you are making 50 thousand a year, and buy a house that cost 350000 thousand a year, and have a car payment, and cell phone, and all the other bills most people do; don't you think you are getting in over your head just a little. And these shiesty ass banks and lending companies giving out loans to folks who have no way to afford all of this. I say the blame goes both ways, but people really need to take responsibility for what they do and the choices they make. Enough of the soapbox.
Wednesday night is the Washington DC round of the RedBull Beat Battle, and the homie J Wheels from Norfolk VA is going to be in the competition. And another Norfolk monsta by the name of Nottz is the headlining producer of the night. Should be a good time, and hopefully I'll hear some sick ass beats from all the competitors.
Oh yeah, the boy Murs is on his hustle for real. He's got commercials all over MTV, and I just heard a song he did with Snoop. WOW. I never thought I'd hear Snoop on a track with Murs"...
